I know the Dolphins were 6-10 this year and wasted a ton of opportunities by starting slow and not playing consistent. We don't have to get into that- 2017 was a bad one.

However, I think about our home game against New England and how thoroughly we thrashed them in all phases of the game. We slaughtered Brady. We smothered their receivers. We completely shut down the run. On defense, we dominated....didn't they have less than 10 yards offense in the 1st quarter?

While our offense wasn't amazing by any means, we moved the ball pretty much at ease through Drake and Landry. New England simply had no answers and we dominated the time of possession so badly that they never really had a chance of competing against us.

Here's what bugs me...really, really bugs me. No team in the league has been more successful shutting down New England, and we whipped their asses worse this season than any team has in the past decade. If we could magically somehow appear in the Super Bowl against them, I think we'd beat the brakes off that team in spectacular fashion.

Yet we're 6-10 and couldn't dominate anyone else like we dominated the Pats- it's very frustrating to say the least.

Eagles will take care of business next Sunday.... BB best ability is taking away the best offensive player (and cheating)... in Philly, that’s anonymous, could be any player on the offense any week and it’s very spread out with absolutely FANTASTIC playcalling... Philly is gonna be a handful for NE. Have hope.

If the refs aren’t clearly favoring NE, the defense is really sound and should be able to smack Brady up a few times. Again, that’s if the refs allow it. Big IF.

Pats understand the process and know when they need max effort...I don’t think we got their best.

Well, that's always been the key....smack him around a little and his accuracy drops off significantly. So it's just a matter of getting him uncomfortable and taking advantage. I think the big thing with Philly is that they have the ability to score lots of points really fast, so their path is basically the same as Atlanta's last year (minus the complete defensive collapse part in the 2nd half). As long as the Eagles can keep moving the ball and scoring though (the Falcons went conservative), I'd think they have a pretty good chance of taking the win.

As you said though- never underestimate the power of trashy officiating.

I remember a stretch in the early 2000’s late 90’s where we had beaten the AFac champion like 5 straight seasons

We've beaten Brady more times than any other team (10) but that's only because we play NE a lot. Our record against Brady is 10-21 which is pathetic! Among teams that have played Brady 10+ times, the best regular season record is Denver's with a 6-7 against Brady (this link lists regular season only):
    https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/B/BradTo00/splits/

Also.. Brady's had losses that were embarrassing AND important where he got trounced when it mattered. 2009 playoffs Baltimore goes to NE and trounces them 33-14 for a rare one-and-done for Brady (49.1 rating lol). Then in 2012 they do it again in the AFC championship game (again at NE) winning with a 28-13 score (a bit better 62.3 rating lol). Brady's got to hate that team like we do. In any case, I think those losses trump our whipping of him this year.

    That win was completely irrelevant!
Everybody forgets Joe Philbin beat them 3 times and those teams like.this one had no chance of competing for superbowl.

So if the Patriots had blown us out, you would have felt exactly the same way as you do now? Any win is relevant. Any win against the Patriots is very relevant.

Besides, those Philbin teams didn't stomp New England by any means. They had the one good win when we debuted the WildCat- everything else was a close game. Nobody has beaten NE in recent years like we did this season- to me that's very relevant.

Yeah, that year we were 1 and 15 we beat the Jets...that was awesome! I mean, it definitely sucked for the season, but that win was awesome!

Was it? I could have swore it was the Jets.....and we won it on a Jason Taylor pick-6 (that had an early whistle and got called back).

We only beat them by 7 points
KC beat them by 15 pts...first game of the season

In 2016 Buffalo shut out New England 16-0

In 2014 KC beat New England by 27 pts...41-14
