Schefter said neither pick will be a 1st or 2nd, so starting from there our best scenario would have been getting two 3s. But that's not happening now that we know about Taylor. Next best haul? A 4th and a 3rd? Maybe, but I want to put this in perspective.

Remember when we traded for B.Marshall? It was for two 2s. It didn't work out so we got rid of him for two 3s. Both Marshall transactions are better than what we will receive for Landry. And for those who say Landry is "just" a slot WR and Marshall was a superior player, look closely at their numbers:

    Marshall(4yrs w/DEN)
    Games - 61
    Catches - 327
    Targets - 544
    Yards - 4019
    Long - 75
    TD - 25
    Fumbles - 7

    Landry
    Games - 64
    Catches - 400
    Targets - 567
    Yards - 4038
    Long - 71
    TD - 22
    Fumbles - 5

I still ddon’t by see what we got but I’ll tell you this Buffalo has a massive selection of choices pretty low now. I can see where they trade up to get a QB now.

Well aint this freakin sweet. The Bills get a 3rd rounder for a no mark QB and we get two also-ran picks for a marquee wide out??!!?!

I don't think our FO could negotiate their way out of coffee shop. Guess I'll put my excitement back in the bag where it usually lives.

There's all you could ever need on Youtube. I have access to NFL Network as well, which ran the combine live last weekend. Also BT Sport show about 3 live college games a week during the season.

Get yourself an Enigma box and an IPTV sub. :wink2:

A lot of hand wringing and whining about a "low return" for a guy we clearly weren't keeping. I'll happily pocket an extra fourth and spend that money elsewhere. Dudes replaceable, he's not a gamebreaker.

Well, maybe if a QB slips to #11, we can trade with the Bills for two firsts and a third rounder? Would that make you feel better?

Landry was/is due big money, so not many teams wanted to trade an early pick AND give up a big contract. Get what you can and get out from under that $16 million he was owed this year. I wish Jarvis was willing to take a long term deal for $12 million per year, but he is willing to go to the Browns to get the biggest payday. Not so much about winning, as it is about money for him. Do we want players like that around?

I'd try and get Amendola for $5-6 million per year on a two year deal, and draft a pass catching TE in the second round. Spread the ball around more and the offense will be okay without Landry.

So we now have three fourth round selections this year. Let's look on the bright side Landry is gone.

    While I don't mind Landry leaving ......

Why in the hell did we tag him if we could'e let him walk on his own and gotten a compensatory 3rd rounder? TBaum lost that poker game hardcore.

Two isn't it? Thought we had 2 last week, used one in the Rams deal and gained one now from the Browns.

Several reasons. It could have been a miscalculation. The hater crowd will jump on that. However, it gives us a pick this year, and opens up potential FA spending more. That's assuming - likely correct - that he would get a third.

The compensation is poor but expected. His contract demands are too high for most teams, and the alternative was to pay him 16 mill this year and lose him for essentially nothing next yeart. Just a **** situation. At least we can move on.

The problem is if he let him walk this dummy would sign some bum to equal value and we would get no pick for him.

I would have thought at least a fifth rounder in 2019, maybe with us sending our seventh rounder to the Browns too.

We could have waited and gotten a third round comp pick in 2019 if we just let Landry walk, so giving him the tag was a panic move I guess. Seems like the front office thought they could get a third THIS YEAR. If they use the salary cap space wisely and actually hit with that fourth round pick, then not such a bad deal.

    We'll see.......

Because we aren't guaranteed a 3rd. Free agency signings by us will factor into the compensatory "formula". Those picks are awarded on overall gains vs losses in free agency. So it's likely we may have only gotten a 4th because you just know Tannenbaum will sign someone somewhere along the line here. he can't help himself.

Plus, you wouldn't get that compensatory pick until next year's draft. We have the 4th this year and 7th next year right now.

In no way am I justifying it, just clarifying. I think whoever spearheaded the Landry related decisions needs to be unemployed. Greir. Tannenbaum. Both. I don't really care. It's a joke. Maybe they have a grand plan still... but seems his plan us always just putting teams into cap hell.

Well with the 2 trades considered
So...essntially in exchange for Landry..we got Robert Quinn and moved our old 4th up to a higher (browns style) 4th...I guess if u include the late pick fodder we also moved our 6th back further and got the browns 7th next year.

We only get the third if we stay out of FA market. We also get a pick this year instead of next.

Honestly, I think this is mostly a Gase decision.

Much like what happened with Ajayi last year, I think Gase soured on Landry by the end of the season.
They offered what they thought he was worth considering both his strengths and weaknesses both on and off the field and it wasn't enough for him, not much else you can do.

All in all, Landry is a great slot receiver who brings a lot of passion to the game, but I feel like the coaching staff didn't believe he was a consumate pro and that he didn't deserve to be paid what he thought he was worth.

When Gase is asked who is a role model for the receivers his first answer is Kenny Stills, not Landry. We saw Landry last season screw up his assignments more than once, not knowing where to line up. At what point is it not more detrimental to the team having a guy who doesn't take his time to study the intricacies of the offense, setting a poor example for the younger guys. Besides that, he is a hothead on the field and commits stupid (avoidable) penalties.

After you factor all of that, and consider that he was reportedly still offered 13 million which was turned down I don't see the trade as a big deal.

I personally think our offense will work just fine next season if we get a nice TE and a couple of good guards in there.

Man, a 4th and 7th is a tough pill to swallow. I know he wants a mega contract but damn, that's not a lot of compensation for a pro bowl receiver, money aside.

Add WR to the list of needs on our draft board.

To the Dolphins front office....are you out of your Mother Effing minds? I am sure next years 1st round draft choice will be a long snapper based on the intelligence of Miami's front orifice.
GD Buffalo got a 3rd for Tyrod Taylor, Tyrod Taylor for God's sake! We got a 4th this year and an open your mouth I have to take a dump 7th round next year! Stop using the effing Magic 8 Ball to run this team!
