This team has a chance to go 7-9 or 8-8. Maybe I'm going overboard but I think the players are starting to believe and walk with a little swagger! These early preseasons wins do mean something. They mean that the players have reason to really buy in to what Sparano is teaching. Am I going overboard? There is a new beGINNing!

I would think the best would be 7-9 and that's little more than the 6 games we were within 3 points of winning last season plus the one we did since this seasons team looks far superior to last.
That being said having Ricky, Ronnie, Pennington, Ginn & the new OLine on their game I coule see the flip of that to 9-7.

Beyond that, anything is possible when you line up your team on the field.

They have already suprised me on the field. I have no clue what to honestly think their record will be, but i do know one thing, without a question, it will be better than it was last year. This team is just way better.

I dont think you're going overboard. Any win total from 5 to 10 is in the realms of possibility. Anyone who thinks we'll win more than 10 is ridiculously optimistic and anyone who thinks we're going to win less than 5 is ridiculously pessimistic. But anywhere in between makes sense. You never know how the ball will bounce or how injuries will effect the season

its awesome....but we can't get too excited....we've yet to see the first team D make big stops in the 4th.......or this first team in general finish in the 4th quater......having the lead at the half is fine.....but till that clock gets to 0:00 in the 4th quater......then I'm not gunna get over-excited......

but they did kick butt last night, and this new era will breed winning sooner than later!!!!

Well I haven't seen the game, in fact all I've seen is the box scores and what little I read here, but either way, we all have to keep in mind this is just preseason...when the real games begin then we'll see if they've started the long trek back to respectability.

But, it does sound exciting, doesn't it ???

in this league...anything can (and sometimes does) happen.

While I expect us to only win 4-5 games, a bounce here, a bounce there, a break here and a break there, if we stay healthy, a few unexpected rookies exceed our expectations, could this team win 10 games?

    Yeah, it could.

I agree completley. I've been saying since last year that we could have easily won more games if we had better luck, didn't make stupid coaching/ playing decisions, etc. 6 games by 3 points or less is huge. It shows we were in the game. So yes, I think we can win 7 games this year. I think we could have done it last year too. But will it actually happen? Thats the real question.

There ia a new atmosphere in Miami and a new attitude. This team will be playing to win games and not just playing not to lose.
I guess the bottom line is this team is playing as a team and is aggressive and young. We have a new staff that seem to know how to bring out the best in players and are willing to make the tough decisions that will make improvements to the team.
One thing is for sure, this team will be competitive and wont be a door mat to the league this year. I think we have a lot to be excited about and win or lose we will enjoy this season and can look forward to the future.

The possibilities are there but it involves every player staying healthy which isn't likely. That said when we have a draft or two of more depth we could be knocking on the playoffs door.

I see a team that is going to dominate the line on both sides of the ball. Sure, Long will miss some assignments but I think with that veteran QB back there and with Henne watching/learning this is a 7 - 8 win team. I'm in no way saying super bowl or playoffs but we will scare the hell out of some teams i.e. Pats and Chargers. I 'm going on record right now saying on Sept 7th, Dolphins 19 - Jets 13!! We are going to run the rock about 30 - 35 times (Ricky, Ronnie, and Cobb combined). Penne is sick with the play action. We are going to have some quick games this year with all the running they will do.

Yes, there does seem to be many reasons to be excited. Of course all the failures of past years temper our enthusiasm. I will continue to contain my enthusiasm a little longer. But I like a lot of things I see alot. I have been waiting for this for years. A total rebuild and purge of the roster and coaching staff. The culture of losing had to be removed like a disease or you do enemy in battle totally excised and annihilated.

They looked good last night, but this is a team playing on emotion. What they're able to muster when they're down in a game is the tell of how good they'll be. We don't know that yet. They can probably win 3-5 games against really bad teams, if we play that many bad teams, on emotion. What happens when competent teams start gameplanning for our D and O? How do we react and counter that? THAT's when we'll learn how good this team is.

That said, this is probably a 6-10 to 9-7 team

Well...we should, this is not a one year development league, we should expect to win games, and see the change in culture implemented out on the field.

I won't predict wins, I will say that we are going to be a team no one wants to play, our physicality coupled with the South Florida heat will make us a joy to watch play at home this year.

Until we are put under real game time pressure though, until all of the changes have been put under pressure, we really can't say what we have for a team this year.

That's a very negative and pessimistic outlook. And unfortunately, accurate. The Chiefs arent good and played even worse last night. I think we will be better but will be surprised if we win more than 6.

If you guys want to see calls for the total demise of a franchise, take a stroll over to chiefsplanet.com. Most of them are standing on the ledge.
Better put on your think skin, though. Most are disgraced because they were beaten by the lowest of the lowest--the 1-15 Dolphins. And that board goes nearly unmonitored so the posters can be brutal. I would recommend a little respect and some humility. But it is great to see another team in total dispair.

I don't think he's suggesting not wanting us to win...hes suggesting not to judge this team based soley on the win/loss record.

We can win 5 games this year and still be on the road to winning our division next season.

yes but it isn't as thought anybody is talking this way after squeaking out a 7-6 victory of the chiefs. That game was a pretty complete game, penalties aside.

This is why the NFL is so great. Anything can happen. To be optimistic about a playoff berth isn't crazy talk. It happens. We've seen a 1-15 team go to the playoffs the next year-- shhh our current VP was the HC/GM for that team.

This is the best time of year. Yo have the MLB playoff races forming, the beginning of a new NFL and CFB season. It's wonderful.

If this team has a positive TO ratio, displays a good redzone offense, and limits bonehead penalties/plays that push them back, I think we've got a good chance. We will compete. That's the real testament of a Parcells backed team--they always compete.

I see 5-11 or 6-10 at best. That's a 4 to 5 win improvement which is great and the fact that last year there were a lot of close games helps even more as others have said. Another positive is that everyone knows the third preseason game is as close to the regular season as the preseason gets. Saying that its still the preseason and wins and losses don't mean a whole lot but wins help.

I hope for the best as it is possible and I want the Fins to be AFC East, AFC, and NFL Champs but the realistic record would be 5 or 6 wins. I'm hoping for more though.

BTW I loved watching the game today on the NFL Network and listening to the KC announcers. At the start of the 3rd quarter they were saying it was terrible that the Chiefs were losing to a 1-15 team (basically insulting the Fins and giving them no credit). By the 4th quarter there was actually some complimenting of the Fins which was good to see. The best thing the Fins have going for them is that no one respects them and that can lead to a few surprising wins.

My expectations for this year is how they develope their identity, i want to see how tough they really are, i want to see who has the heart to play in this town for the future, as long as they play hard and tough i will not worry about a number, why give this young roster a number, lets just enjoy the new attitude and understand that its probably going to take some time to learn how to win a few of these games.

If yall think were gonna walk all over Brett Farve and the jets...i dont know, iam scared as hell of that guy on that team with that chip.

By putting expectations on a team before we really know is how we get negative around here, its what we've always done, and its how this horrible identity of a fanbase we have evolved.

Predict if you wish, but i will stick to the appreciation of the new culture and trust that we are going in the direction we all want and once we prove in big games that we have the talent, then we can have predictions on how many wins were gonna have.

I say this biting my tongue because iam so freakin excited about my team i must nit pick.

Glad to see some of you guys are comming around.

No way in hell was I going into a season thinking we'll just win a few games.

I see us winning 9 or 10 games this season and at worst only 8.

What this team needed to Win those 6 games last season was a culture change and a coaching change and we got'em.

Put in that win against the Ravens and we have 7 wins. Big difference in 1-15 to 7-9 no? You go from worst to mediocre and people start talking this year about how we'll do better blah blah blah.

Believe my friends, believe. We do have a decent team. We will win games this year.

I don't want to put some sort of hippie beatnik spin on last season but remember the 90's where Miami won a lot of games but just didn't do well in the playoffs? Remember how bad we had it then when winning 10-11 games and losing in the first round was a curse? Trust me, I for one have a whole new perspective on how bad "bad" is.

It certainly changed the way I look at the game and how much I appreciate wins.

I'm upgrading my previous predictions of 5-6 wins to 7-8 wins based on the physical play I saw these three games so far. I am excited and pumped, what we have not even seen yet is how the new regime's conditioning program will make us stronger and more capable of finishing games in the 4th quarter.

With the moves we have made to improve our front and the soft schedule, I expect no less than 7-8 wins. Adding Pennington will also really help put us much farther ahead on schedule to reach the playoffs.

I think this team is going to be fun to watch this year...:knucks:

I found it comical how the commentators for the Chiefs broadcast was giving Miami no credit for the way they were playing. The play by play guy was starting to give Miami credit and even a little impressed with the way Miami was playing in the 4th quarter but the color guy would shoot him down and blame KC for everything that happened.

Hopefully that will be the first of many reactions this coming season for the opposing team.
