I love this time of year because we as fans have all the hope in the world that our team is going to build a roster through free agency and the upcoming Draft that will carry us through to a super bowl.

So let's say you get to be the GM and you can make one move to help this team. What would you like it to be? Let's not be too crazy and say trade for 5 players for one kind of nutty, but something that could realistically happen! What would yours be?

I'll start it off with a Major shakeup to this offense.

Ryan Tannehill is traded to the New York Jets for their #6 Pick and their first number 2 in 2019.

The Jets would immediately have a starting QB for the next few years, Miami would be able to draft a Rookie QB for the future. While the moves made this offseason seems to indicate the team is rebuilding as much as they don't want to admit that. I for one don't see Ryan elevating this team to Super Bowl contenders.

We would be screwed with a Starting QB so this would require us to get a good backup and start the rookie right away which I'm ok with if we're rebuilding in GASES image.

Somewhat realistic? Fine about Tyrann Mathieu on a 2 year 16 million dollar contract.

People on this site say Tannehill sucks. Then they propose trades with him that nets Miami a ridiculous return and say that team is getting a good starting QB for the next 3 years.

Brady has worst year of his life. Seems like every week he is getting into a fender bender. Strange noises in the night. Plumbing disaster after appliance failure after jury duty summons and speeding and parking tickets and somebody used his card for a 200k party in SoBeach and crabs that he shares with Gizzy and bedbugs in the hotel and fiberglass dust in his jock and every kind of small misery there is upon him from training camp on.
    All funded by Ross.

Easy resign Brian Hartline. 10 years 200 million dollar contract.
I'd probably sign Jeremy Hill to a very low 2 year contract.

Give up this year's 11th and next year's 1st to move up to 4th this year and draft Mayfield.

If RT doesn't look like he's progressed, try and get a 2nd for him next year.

I like your trade idea but if tannehill doesn't look good I don't see getting a second rounder for him.

Sign Andrew Norwell instead of Sitton and Wilson. Draft Nelson, have a dominant guard duo for 6-8 years. Fire Gase and tell him he doesn't fit the culture and just wasn't smart enough.

If he plays the same as he always has, in this QB starved league, I'd think he'd fetch a 2nd rounder.

I mean, Sam Bradford got a first and fourth. I wouldn't really have said Bradford was head and shoulder's above Tannehill. The problem I see is if Tannehill comes back and flat out sucks.

That was ridiculous- we should get their 2nd rounders in 2020 through 2029 as well....and a Gatorade machine for our locker room. Then it's close to being fair. =)

    Heck, I'll play the game.

Since I know next to nothing about college prospects, I trade our 2018 1st round, 3rd round and 4th round pick for JJ Watt. Then I trade this year's 2nd rounder and next year's 1st and 3rd for Von Miller. Then I try to take all the remaining picks and swap them for Khalil Mack, but that trade falls through and I actually have to draft some people. Drat!

But then it occurs to me that if I bring in Russel Wilson, that solves six positions in one since he really doesn't need an offensive line. So I trade Tannehill, our 4th round pick and next year's 2nd for Wilson- problem solved. I use my 6th rounder (we don't have a 5th) to draft the best kicker in college and then I grab two corners with my 7th round picks. Draft is done- bam!

Finally, I need to address the running back position and I should probably unload Kiko Alonso. I hear Denver is looking for a linebacker so I swap Kiko for CJ Anderson straight up...but then I throw in next year's 4th and 5th round picks for Brock Osweiler as well. The guy will never play on our team but he does make finding the water boys much easier, so his job is to stand next to Gase and point whenever a coach gets thirsty. Note- I do save our 6th rounder in case we need another kicker in 2020.

The next day, Ross fires me and I leave the office in a fit of rage. Wait until you see our freaking defense, I yell, as security escorts me off the premises and orders me never to come back. And once the Dolphins win the Super Bowl thanks to my genius, I am awarded GM of the Year by the league and given a new 10-year contract extension. From that point forward, I never draft anyone ever again....except for the best kicker or punter in the nation in the 5th or 6th rounds.

Kickers actually lead the league in scoring every season so I obviously want the best possible. My greed leads to a new trend of drafting kickers earlier, so I eventually have to save my 2nd round picks for the best kickers around. That makes me swap strategies and I start trading journeymen pro bowlers for the best kickers in the league- I end up with 14 of them on my roster and 6 more on my practice squad. That makes the value of kickers skyrocket and then I get in the business of trading kickers for rookie contract Pro-Bowl defenders. I continually outsmart the league by staying two years ahead of this trend- they nickname me the Kick Nazi.

Meanwhile, my entire offense is undrafted free agents or guys that wash out of the league. I explain to Wilson that his ONLY job is to get us into field goal range once...which happens to be the 50 yard line since we can kick that darn pigskin a country mile. Meanwhile, our receivers suck, our running backs can't even put their helmets on straight...but you should really see our defense! They score an average of 14 a game all by themselves.

By 2024, the entire AFC Pro Bowl team on defense is Miami Dolphins....including Kahlil Mack (who we got from trading our 2021 kicker draft pick) and several other household names. I just keep trading all our picks for top defenders and by 2027, we become the first team in league history to never give up a single point in an entire season. We win the Super Bowl that year 3-0...which is the same darn score from the past three years. I retire in 2028 and receive my Hall of Fame jacket in 2033.

However, because my kicking and defensive trend has caught on so beautifully across the league, the average score of football contests is 6 to 3. The fans hate it because offensive players aren't even drafted in the first five rounds anymore, save for quarterbacks that could be "the next Russell Wilson." Yet none of them are.

So by 2035, the entire NFL collapses and college football fills that void. It does become a year-round sport though since the playoff brackets last a total of seven months, and the fans absolutely love it. The raging popularity finally leads to college players being paid, which in turn opens the doors for division II and III schools to compete on a national level. In turn, Monmoth University brings in Russell Wilson as he pursues his Masters Degree in psychology and yet another trend is born- ex-pro athletes flock back to college to relive their glory days through the lower tiered schools.

From what I hear, Ritchie Incognito is pursuing his 3rd doctorate degree at age 57 just to stay in the locker room with all his boys. Just sayin...

That's my plan folks....you can thank me in 2035. I'm taking down the whole freaking league just by being GM for a single day!

If he plays as well as you hypothesize why would you get rid of him...then what do you do with an unproven rookie you gave up so much to get?

If you make a drastic move such as that you have to do so knowing that everything else is in place and THAT is the final piece to complete the puzzle.

We’ve been sucking wind so much on defense the past couple of seasons that’s where I would put my focus, that an OL

Stay put on free agency unless a surprise cut happens, we did very well as is, dont need to add a cap casualty. If a star right guard happens to get cut, go after him.

Draft BPA, no matter the position.

Re-sign Donkey-Kong to a 3 year 45 mill GTed contract. Ross throws in a 7 story Ft Lauderdale condo on the side. Plus an extra 500k for everytime he puts Marcia on her back and makes her cry.

PS-conract$$$ aside. Sucks losing the player, and from all accounts the man.

Last time I checked Norwell signed 5 years 66 million contract with 30 million guaranteed.66 divided by 5 is 13.2 million a year. We are paying 2 slot WR's 8 million for mediocrity and 6 million for leadership.

Yay lets spend 14 million on 2 slot WR's, super bowl baby!! I added an extra exclamation...i just raised the stakes.

The number 11 pick in the draft last year signed a 4 year 15 million dollars contract. 15+66=81.

Last time I checked having a dominant OL is actually better than having 2 decent slots. I think the phrase is it all starts up front, or is it...it all starts in the slot? I forget.

Exactly and no team in their right mind should draft a guard in the beginning of the 1st especially after you just signed the top free agent guard to a $66 million dollar contract.

If having the best oline in the league was the path to the chip, we would’ve seen the cowboys take it home already. What’s more important than having the best line on paper is having a cohesive line. Pouncey not practicing all year did not allow them to build any sort of chemistry. If Kilgore stays healthy, he’s going to be a huge pickup for us and we just signed a veteran pro bowl guard like all of us wanted. We also have good depth now.

Not saying having a great OL=SuperBowl, rather having a great OL is more is more important for than slot r's. The Cowboys have had a winning season 3 of the last 4 years which can be largely attributed to their great OL. The Eagles just won a SuperBowl with 2 all pro players and 1 pro bowl player on their offensive line. A line so good losing MVP caliber Carson Wentz, was a little easier due to their OL being one of the best, they made Nick Foles look like someone who might fetch them a 1st or 2nd round pick. This is a guy no-one wanted as a starter and was contemplating retirement.

The eagles are stacked on both sides of the ball and that still doesn’t mean you should spend $66 mil on a guard then draft one with your #11 pick...

Uh huh. It's easy for you to make that comment now ("stacked with talent") b/c they won the SB, but this was the thought process about them the same time last year, and no one had them as SB favorites (60-1, only 9 other teams had worse odds). The Eagles' line was absolutely a main catalyst for their championship. You can't spin it any other way.

I’m not saying the line wasn’t one of the main reasons they won a super bowl. My point was to spend that type of money on a guard then go ahead and select another with an early first round pick is too much of an investment for a team with other holes.

That depends on your time table...Retooling for at a chance at a playoff yes.

Having actual rebuilding plan with a 2-3 year schedule taking care of the OL that way was the architecture of many of the great coaches through he years.
    Don't think its ours though....
