PFT has confirmed that the veteran running back is visiting the Dolphins today, returning to the scene of his college stardom. Gore left the University of Miami after the 2004 season, and has racked up 14,026 yards in the NFL since. That means he’s both accomplished and old, as he turns 35 in May. But the Dolphins could use some ballast, both in terms of the offense and the locker room. And adding a player so widely respected could only be a good thing for a team that’s been in constant flux.
typical Miami signing, Arian foster #2. even cheap what's he bringing to the table? I could also be over reacting as well
For a cheap, team friendly deal, he would be a good get actually. He's finished as a primary runner, but he's not terrible overall, and he's actually still pretty solid with short yardage work. Also good vet leadership. Again though, needs to be cheap and team friendly.
I think gase is trying to add a veteran presence to the youth we have at RB however gore is pretty old now 35 for a RB is long in the tooth.
Like this signing, he'll be motivated to play in his home town... guy's got some mileage but is still going strong and is a good locker room presence. He'll be the thunder to Drake's lightning and we can still take a RB in the later rounds of the draft.
I think Trav is right, as long as Thill is healed up, our offense is going to catch a lot of people off guard.
lol....You're confusing Gore with someone else. He's not missed a game in something like 7 seasons with 7612 yards rushing and 42 rushing TD's. He rushed for 960 yards last year alone. And he's a great blocker and receiver.
Well let hope we get a full 16 out of him and he can improve these youngsters! Next year we will look for someone else I suppose! At least he’s a vet and a good one
'..part of one of the greatest college football teams in NFL history...' Surely that should be 'NCAA history'..?
This is interesting and a bit reassuring: "he is only player with at least 900 yds rushing each of last 3yrs"
I don't know. I don't find this very exciting. Hopefully we get some usefulness out of him, but if we find someone talented in rookie free agency, Gore's carries are likely to be in the single digits per game.
I hope this is a win, win. I know he has to help us in some way, but thinking of him finishing his career, in his home area, with his friends and family makes me smile. It’s a nice way to finish your career ( I am assuming this will be it).
We can use all the old ( as in continuing good performance over their entire career) guys like him we can get!
He may be old but he's always been a pro,a good locker room addition and will bring another offensive weapon to the arsenal.
https://www.phinsnews.com/miami-dolphins-news-gore-film-study-tank-sure-aint-empty/ Nice little article about Gore with some 2017 highlights. It is a fine pick up.
I think this is a great signing, a real win win for both parties. Yes he is old but he has still been very productive. He is not signed as our feature back but as a locker room leader for a bunch if guys that need some good leadership. Welcome home to Miami!
Yeah, I missed that Canes side by a couple of years. Got into college football about 2004 when they started showing games in the UK and I've followed it ever since. It seemed only natural to throw my weight behind the Canes, keep it in the family and all that. I've got those ESPN 'The U' documentaries which really captures the atmosphere of the time. Must have been great to have been there.
Hopefully we get some usefulness out of him????? I am not saying he is going to be great but to say you hope we find SOME usefulness is like you dont think he will do anything and this is from a RB that had 300 more yards last year then our best RB who only had around 644 not to mention he also had more yards receiving then our highest RB too..Last year he did better then any RB Miami had with a worse O-Line then the Dolphins had,,.Drake is our main RB and I believe he will do great this year but Gore will be better then just hope he is useful and should do good..Better then Williams did last year.
