It's set up perfectly for us. I don't think the teams ahead of us have wants/needs like we do with their 4th round picks. If he is there for our first pick PLEASE OH PLEASE pick this young MAN!!!
A little tid bit that most don't know about Shaquem Griffin. His brother, twin brother, Shaquil was offered a full football scholarship from UCF and told then coach George O'Leary words to the effect, "If you want me, you have to take my brother too". The rest as they say is history. I'd love to have Griffin. This kid has had to face adversity his entire life, always having to prove himself. It's the kind of self determination and self motivation that makes good players great, and great players superstars.
Shaquill actually turned down a lot of offers from big programs like Miami, FSU, etc b/c they wouldn't offer his brother too. Shaquill sacrificed a lot. If he had played at a bigger program, he would have got more recognition, been drafted higher, etc. But he turned down many offers just to make sure Shaquem got a chance somewhere. Shaquem got that chance... as you said... the rest was history.
Honestly, I am watching to see if we go up and get Hurst. Absolutely incredible value in the 4th round and it fills another need. If we get him, I feel like he can be the run stuffer this D needs. Along with our speed now, he would be ideal in my opinion. The war room has a plan, let's see if he is part of it.
a lot of nfl FO's think hurst is undraftable with his heart condition... it's kinda bad press if someone dies on your practice field
I've heard 15 teams took him off their boards. Roughly half if true, that means the other half have not. Sounds like a 50/50 coin toss, not a he's gonna die for sure thing. Besides, if we are interested, I am sure Mr. Ross can call some alumni and ask what the real scoop is on him.
Mayock said of the 15 teams he talked to about Hurst, 14 of them took them off the board. I highly doubt the other half of the league all have him on their board still. I feel for the kid. Terrible situation. If doctors say no. There is absolutely 0% chance you take with that type of medical issue.
Would havebeen a better pick than either of the 4ths we picked. But no one else has picked him yet either so... Maybe he falls to our 5th
Flippin Shehacks! Good for him though. He'll be great here in the NW, I'll still get to watch him play every week at least. And he gets to keep playing with his brother, which is way cool.
If you did not just see the "I am Shaqem Griffin" piece on NFL network, you should look it up. Children are amazing. Make a grown man cry.
If he didnt have that missing hand he wouldve easily been a day 2 pick. Happy for him tho and the seahawks is the best fit for him, his brother knows his training more than anyone else does. So he will get plenty of help to start his career and then eventually he will go his own path.
