I see some of these guys base their knowledge on what they perceive the fan base's to be, as long as it lines up with their opinion. Notice that he repeatedly stated that Gase is going to do it his way, no mater what the out come. He never once addressed why Gase would take that approach but implies a head strong selfishness. Apparently his depth of knowledge didn't include Gases' interview with the press after he had lunch with Don Shula, shortly after becoming Miami's new coach. When the press asked Gase if coach Shula had any advice for him, he responded with something to the effect that he (Gase) should do things and coach his way. Since this is the season for scoring things like the draft, I'll score the presenters information sources to mine . Press = C-, If he used the most indirect reference there is (a fan base, assuming he is telling the truth), for his source. Press = D-, If he made up the part about using the fan base as a source to justify what was just his own opinion. Irishman = A-, I used a less indirect source, the press coverage of someone who participated in the conversation being asked about. I win, but there really was not much competition.
In his defense, we aren't most Dolphin fans. For instance, you won't find many here asking why Gase cut their best overall RB in Ajayi...we know why. We won't ask why Cutler isn't back or why Gase didn't move up to grab a QB...we know that too (not that some of you like it, but you know exactly why he did what he did). We also know why we cut ties with Landry, Suh, Pouncey and others- it was the only way to fill some massive holes in our roster and stay within the cap. To the casual fan, we look like the Miami Marlins who traded away all our players to tank the season on purpose. That's clearly not what's happening here and we know that because we're not average fans.
Maybe I’m getting old and grumpy, but I just have no desire to watch or read “hype” about this team or X player these day’s. Getting to the point where I want to be showed not told.
I must be old and grumpy too. I am not interested in hype or getting excited for the season. They have to show me, not talk about it.
