Why did the lions restructure his contract yesterday then lol anyways this guy is way too average to matter..
Anyone want to guess the round? Doesn't hurt to have some DT experience around for a cheap amount either way.
CK has been saying that he was a bad fit in Tamp and played poorly at first in the wide-9 in Detroit and then became a top 10 DT in regards to pressures in the last 6-7 games last season. Now that Patricia is going to revamp the Lions defense it makes sense to either cut his pay or trade him. His old Detroit position coach is now Miami's position coach. So I'm sure he knows him well.
" Spence had thrived in the Lions' 4-3 system that allowed him to push into backfields, but it's not clear what his role would have been under new coach Matt Patricia. Add to that the free agent signing of Sylvester Williams and the drafting of Da'Shawn Hand on the defensive line and it made Spence, who was slated to be a possible starter this year, more expendable. " (espn) Age 26 6'1' / 307 Little inside info: Reuniting with defensive line coach Kris Kocurek who held the same position with the Lions... Cost to us .....nothing 7th rdr 2019.... acquired by Miami in the Jarvis Landry deal.
Seems like a decent trade, for DT depth if nothing else. I hope the front office is ready to pounce after June 1st if a good vet DT gets cut (minus some serious reason like beating wife/girlfriend).
Rotational dt add on the dirt cheap. Conditional 7th Not much not to like here. We needed a one year rental piece and we got it dirt cheap money and compensation wise. Plus his old dline coach is ours now endorsing it.
Patricia will be utilizing hybrid 2 gap DT's which made Spence expendable as a non-scheme fit. Nice, cheap pickup with his former DL coach to vouch for him.
Ian Rapoport ✔ @RapSheet Veteran DT Terrell McClain is visiting the #Dolphins today, source says. McClain was released post-draft by the Redskins. 11:16 AM - May 4, 2018

I think it was a 7th we got from another trade....may have been a 6th I cant remember i read it last night and I was drinking
"Continuing the theme of adding high-character players, the Dolphins also acquired an interior rush threat and serious snap-eater in an area that was lacking in both departments." He looks to be a low cost good fit guy.
