http://www.miamiherald.com/sports/nfl/miami-dolphins/article210499144.html Nice guy. I wish him the best of luck.
He sure didnt get it done with the Jets. Perhaps better coaching will help him out. The Jets don't seem to do a very good job developing qb's. Hey, camp arm if nothing else.
Funny, I just got home from work and saw this. I actually liked him a bit coming out of college. He was terrible with the NJ Jerko--s, but who knows? Couldn't hurt. It would be cool if they let Bridgewater go, but doubtful.
I've already got his picture in my Avatar so if he does good I'm one step ahead of the game. Just hope he goes thru a thorough decontamination process before he enters the facility. Once that jest stink gets in it will be hard to get it out.
I want to be careful here, but considering our draft and our recent moves like signing Spence and now Petty our front office seems... umm...how do I put it...logical? We seemed to be more prepared than in years past. Petty may have bombed out in New York, but he's got a jump on his development over any QB we could have taken on day 3, IMO.
It still seems ludicrous that the Dolphins didn’t draft a QB in the first round. Tannehill has never been more than a mediocre QB at best and that was before he suffered a serious knee injury. With him as the starter next season, the Dolphins will probably win 5-6 games. If they have to rely on any of the other QB’s now on the roster to take over if Tannehill goes down again, a 1 or 2 win season is most likely. My expectation is that the Dolphins will be drafting a QB in the first round of the 2019 draft, whether Tannehill plays the entire 2018 season or not. I just wish they had drafted their future QB in this years draft, so at least he would have had a year to learn and adjust to the NFL before taking over for Tannehill. All not drafting a QB this year has done is prolong the rebuilding process.
I'm cool with this. We could do a lot worse for a third string QB....He should beat out Fales and possibly even Brock if he plays well enough in preseason.
That is interesting as the Dolphins never won less than 7 games with Tannehill as quarterback. You also say that the Dolphins do not have good talent. So without Tannehill Miami is a 1 or 2 win team. With Tannehill they are at least a 7 or 8 win team (if you actually go by history and not hysteria), then by your logic Tannehill is worth 6 or 7 games. Which is better than mediocre.
He wasnt broken, he just looked that way because his head was literally rammed up his *** by Suh and Wake. Having ones head lodged up ones *** tends to produce an optical illusion. They have some good doctors in NYC.
From what I recall of that hit, 1) Petty completed the pass downfield and 2) wasn't injured enough to miss a play.
I don't know about the completion but if you're talking about the Wake/Suh sandwich I think Fitzpatrick came in after that. I remember thinking the Jets chances went from absolute zero with Bryce Petty up a notch or 2 (but still not very high) when Fitz replaced him. I seriously think Osweiler is better. I've never seen anything remotely good to latch onto for Bryce Petty, camp arm at best.
The Panthers won the Oikos Triple Greek Yogurt challenge when they drafted Cam Newton. Does that count?
Yep. I forgot about him. I thought Wentz was going to be the first. edit. Panthers didn't trade up for Newton. They already had the 1st pick
Truthfully, I don't know. It would be interesting to see where all 32 starters were selected and how many picks they cost each team to acquire that final pick. Edit...1st round QB picks. Those with at least 1 playoff win with 3+ years of league exp are bolded....so only RT and Bortles don't have one yet.- Tannehill Flacco Big Ben Luck Bortles E. Manning Alex Smith Rivers Sanchez RG III Stafford Ryan Newton Goff Wentz Lynch Trubisky Mahomes Watson Also interesting, for 2017, here are the top QB's that weren't taken in the 1st round- Brady Wilson Cousins Brees Carr Dalton Prescott Keenum Kizer Brissett Mariota Taylor McCown Siemian Hundley Palmer Rodgers Garappolo 18 of the 32 starters were not 1st rounders. Cutler was a 1st/Moore was not...so you may add 1 more to that list as well. Also, 4 of the top 10 overall QB's were taken outside the 1st round.
