I wasn't getting my hopes up, but it looks like the higher ups at Disney are twisting ABC's arm again! I realized that something might be up when they released a list of all shows that were either renewed or cancelled, but left Shield out. I was thinking that it might get picked up on another platform, but I'm grateful for the return on ABC, even if its again just a partial season in the Spring. Easily, easily, my favorite show on TV right now. I was excited to see that FOX not only renewed The Orville, but also will have another season of Cosmos coming too, both in the Spring like I expect Shield to be. The only show that I'm likely to watch in the Autumn is The Good Place, but that leaves more room for football I guess.
My favorite sci-fi show of the moment, The Expanse, was dropped by the SyFy channel after it's 3rd season. It's been critically acclaimed, but because SyFy only had first run rights, it hasn't made them enough money to continue making what must be an expensive show to film. Luckily, Amazon's CEO Jeff Bezos is a fan, and as Amazon already had the streaming rights, it looks like they're going to pick it up. Fingers crossed. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/expanse-revived-season-4-at-amazon-1113803
I don't know about The Last Kingdom but Animal Kingdom has been much more gratifying than I imagined it would be. It's been binge worthy for me. If you haven't gotten into Billions yet, that needs to be your first priority, no question.
Think I mentioned Animal Kingdom last year. I watched the first 2 seasons of it and really enjoyed it. Sort of a Point Break meets Ma Barker mash-up... lol... Will look into Billions.
The 3rd season of Humans started a few weeks ago here in the UK. I've just caught up with the first couple of episodes yesterday, and it's still a quality show. The story picks up a year after the big event at the end of the last season and shows the aftermath of it and the impact on both humans and synths. Great acting and an engrossing storyline.
I'm pretty sure I've seen it but I don't remember any of it. I'll wait until the series is over to rewatch it.
season 5 of Agents of Shield finally hit Netflix. Even though I mocked the first 2 seasons of AOS, it picked up in season 4 and season 5 w/Kree has been a big improvement so far. glad I went back to it after giving up on it.
I enjoyed every single season, but they do get better as they go on, for the most part. Four is probably the best.
I think season 4 is the blueprint for full season super hero shows. I hope the Arrowverse can look back and learn because other than Legends, this season has been terrible. Which is very disappointing because I thought the first half of Supergirl was very entertaining. The last 5 episodes were painfully bad.
that's too bad, was just about to catch up on Supergirl. I gave up on Arrow before end of season 2, too much melodrama. haven't watched Legends yet. Even though it's cheesy at times, I have watched all of Flash
I've just about got my wife on board with getting a Netflix account when we move into our new house and get our internet set up. I'm interested to watch the Marvel Shows, Black Mirror, Kimmy Schmidt, Lost in Space, Altered Carbon, and Marco Polo. Plus some of the kids shows and movies.
Stranger Things? House of Cards? Narcos? Ozark? Dark? Mindhunters? Making a Murderer? Santa Clarita Diet? Peaky Blinders? You're in serious need of a taste makeover!
I have absolutely no interest in horror or gore or anything to do with zombies, so the Santa Clara one is way out. House of Cards just looks boring to me, and I'm not sure how interested I am in Stranger Things. I might check it out and give it an episode or two. The others either seem dull to me or I haven't heard of them.
Narcos and Ozark are seriously good TV, not horror or gore at all (although they have their fair share of violence), so I'd say give them a couple of episodes and see if you like. They're addictive as hell once you start. Narcos does have a lot of Spanish dialogue so, if you don't like subtitles, that might put you off. Good thing about Netflix is you can dip your toes into a show and see if you like, and if you do then there's a lot to then binge watch on.
They're just not the type of things that interest me, or I get into. I totally get that a lot of people love that kind of thing these days and its become very popular, but crime drama just isn't for me.
I used to love crime drama, but my free time to watch TV has shrunk by at least half over the years. eliminating crime drama was easy. not willing to give up superhero or scifi.
Yellowstone is outstanding. Reminds me of an upscale familial version of Banshee. Condor is a good fun drama-thriller.
Recommend me docuseries. I've seen The Jinx, Making of a Murderer, Evil Genius, Confession Tapes, Wild Country, the one about the nun who was murdered and they never found the murderer, The Staircase, etc. etc. I'm dying for another, they're easily my favorite type of TV show.
What about stuff like Narcos, Waco, Mindhunter, Manhunt: Unabomber, American Crime Story, Trust, or Unsolved: the Murders of Tupac & Notorious B.I.G that aren't docuseries per say but are based on real people/events?
Watched Mindhunter and loved it, can't wait for the next season. Tried all of the others, and they just don't capture me like the real docuseries do. I don't know why Mindhunter was the exception. I watched the documentaries on the Oklahoma City Bomber and the Ruby Ridge incident, also very enthralling. I also enjoyed Spotlight (not a documentary), but that's a year or two old now. Todd, have you ever watched "The Lost Tapes"? I caught an episode on the Smithsonian channel or something. It's a show where all archival news footage explains the story of an episode in history. I caught the Son of Sam episode and it was fantastic, I could not peel away. Maybe I'll revisit that one to satisfy my jones.
RE: Yellowstone...its ok but its definitely no Banshee. Banshee was one of the top 10 tv series of the last decade imo. They really need to bring that show back
Looks like we arent getting season 2 of the punisher til early 2019. But we may get season 4 of Narcos in a month or 2. Money Heist season 3 looks to be early 2019 as well and is now the most watched non english speaking show on Netflix passing Narcos. Looks like Luke Cage and Jessica Jones reruns for another month.
Who Is America? This is the best show out right now...this isn't up for debate, lol. Yes, this idiot from the House of Representatives had to resign after this interview, lmao.
