I'm just antagonizing Prw. At least this means they're blaming the opposing team instead of the refs now.

Draft wise hearing that ATL is going after Doncic not a big, Sacramento wants a big (Bagley would be the wise choice imo, best player in the draft).

The media keeps pushing a narrative that the NYK are going Pg...SI is the latest. They’re going to be surprised when it’s Porter or Knox imo.

Rumors out there the Celtics are going to offer futures for Kawhi along with Smart and Rozier. They own a future 1st from Sac next year, Memphis and one other team I can’t remember but you don’t have to be a Celtics fan to appreciate the way Danny Ainge is passing around Cosby pills to half the GM’s in the NBA.

Yeah, I read that the only player they're discussing is Doncic. Ayton is basically a lock at 1, but I'm not convinced Bagley goes second. I think he's smaller than advertised. Ayton towers over everyone on the court and Bagley is down low banging with wings who look the same height. He and Stojakovic even seem to be the same height:

I wouldn't be surprised if they do something Kings-esque and draft Porter instead. As for Bagley, he better learn how to guard the perimeter and shoot or grow 3-4 inches. He's going to have a hard time with someone like Embiid or Anthony Davis. They're going to abuse him in the paint.

    Hmmm....just heard some interesting rumors.

    1. A source says that Chris Paul is willing to take less than max. (Opens up possibly $5 mil)
    2. Rockets are exploring a trade involving Eric Gordon for a mid-first round pick. *I was wondering why they have been interviewing first rounders* (Opens up $13.5 mil)
    3. Add in the waive-&-stretch of Ryan Anderson. (Opens up $12 mil)

Morey warned the media about his "new math". That's an extra $30.5 mil to pick up a superstar player in free agency. Interesting.

Bagley reclassified last year, he should have been a HS senior last year and a college freshman this year. He just turned 19 in March. He skipped the combine measurements but by all accounts is a legit 6'11. People forget Peja is 6'9/6'10 depending where you look. He wasnt some some 6'6 wing. Bagley is going to be a PF to start and may grow in to being a C. Hes 6'11 234 as best i can find.

Bagleys D is the most questioned part of his game. That should tell you something because he can really be a dominant shotblocker. There are moments that really stand out to me with him. He just dominated Virginia....there were teams that struggled to score 30 vs them. He dominated Texas, FSU (normally good defensively), Florida, Wake, NC State etc as a true freshman. There wasnt a time i watched him last year where i didnt sit there and say hes not the best player out there. I dont know if he comes in and dominates right away but i like him more as a player then Ayton and Jaren Jackson though i think Jackson is ahead of him defensively. I like Jackson too fwiw. But Bagley could be an AD type where Jackson reminds me of Al Horford (good at everything).

I mentioned a few posts up that 14 and 15 are in play as both Washington and Denver are looking for ways to improve by moving expirings and stay away from the tax/increase flexibility. Dont be surprised if either team is involved as both have some sizeable expirings. Gortat clashed with Wall last year and the Nuggets have been looking forever to move Faried and Wilson Chandler.

The Knicks need to get involved there imo. Theres flexibility and draft picks to be had and the Nets move earlier opens 2 max slots for them depending on what they decide to do with Russell and RHJ.

Yeah, I am really intrigued by this. Things just got a lot more interesting. If Morey moves Gordon, that means he definitely knows a star is coming in.

I honestly think its PG. The Lebron and George stuff goes back to last summer. Melo was supposed to be dealt to Cleveland on draft night as well as PG but everything got cancelled when PG wouldnt commit so it goes. The Lakers have cap space for both Lebron and PG but theyd gut their team to finish 3rd or 4th in the west which doesnt seem a very Laker thing to do. I could see Houston wanting another guy who could score in isolation and George would fit that.

I would be fine with George, but I don't think he's coming. I agree that he would fit perfectly though.

On another note, I really feel bad for Melo...he really wants to be a Rocket. Still hanging around Rockets players, lol.

I just find it funny that San Francisco thinks they can show us how bbq is done. I’ll just go to cheap *** Rudy’s if I’m craving bbq over this place.

Memphis and ATL taking calls on 3 and 4. Memphis wants someone to take Parsons contract (I’d probably do it if I’m te Knicks and I don’t have to give up 9). ATL supposedly feels Young will be there if they trade down. I’d have no problem giving them Lee, THJr or Kanters expiring as long as the contracts i take back are expiring or moveable for additional assets.

If I were Miami, and Doncic were there, I'd take Parsons to get him at 4. I don't think they will, though. But they're at the point where if they don't land a true all-star, they should just hit the reset button. Trade your veteran assets, go with the young guys for the next couple of years, collect a couple of decent draft picks, and try again in a few years when you have cap space.

With regards to this draft, I feel like people are sleeping on Trae Young. He is a special offensive player, and could have people kicking themselves for passing on him much like people are with Steph.

This version of Chris Paul isn’t worth max money. Unless max money means something cheaper to the rockets.

I’d give away smart and rozier and futures for kawhi in a nanosecond. So would ainge. Sacramento pick ok it’s yours.

For me it’s ayton and bagley top 2 bpa picks. Don’t know much about doncic. Don’t overthink it take those 2 at the top. I do agree that bagley needs to get stronger. Ayton and Phoenix is a no brainer

I like the other duke big as value and bamba has too much upside to last long. Very raw but the nba loves upside with length and size

If I’m the knicks I’m trying to move up from 9.

I feel the opposite. He is very weak defensively. He’s trying to add weight, 11lbs since the combine up to 185 from 174. He’s a really weak defender right now. Maybe he can improve but it’s an effort thing and that’s usually character related. I don’t know what it is but I just don’t see a superstar there. Maybe a significantly lesser version of Curry...like Dell Curry.

This is an amazing draft if you need a big c, a 4 or a stretch 4 with Alton, Bagley, Jackson, Bamba (7’10” wingspan!!, Carter or Porter. Then you have guys like Knox and Doncic who both may not done growing and Walker who may yet be a true 2 with ideal size.

Ayton and Phoenix is probably gonna happen but people are sleeping on the fact Doncics Coach was just hired by Phoenix as HC. I’m guessing that McDonaugh is making this pick though and he’s going Ayton. I’d prefer Bagley or Doncic personally if I were a Suns fan.

I come from the school of you don’t pass up a legit big when it’s staring you in the face.

So for me ayton would be the guy. But I haven’t much paid attention to his footwork which for me is the meal ticket with bigs.

He just looked like the obvious #1 to me when I saw him in the ncaa tournament.

What’s the thought on bagley 4? I don’t think I see 5 there. I think his perimeter shooting will get better in the pros.

I imagine it will be ayton bagley and doncic some order of in the top 3

Trae Young’s shot selection is a flag for me.

I agree on not passing a great big as size is always a winner in this league if they’re good players who are long...I just see Bagley as that big more then Ayton. Ayton is very lazy defensively though he was played at PF last year much of the time and he doesn’t strike me as the smartest dude in the room. Bagley imo just needs to continue to develop on D. To me you can coin flip Bagley and Doncic as the drafts best player.

  28. CaribPhin

    CaribPhin Guest

Ayton's footwork is really good. Bagley might need to figure out how to be Kevin Love and play stretch 4. I don't see how he figures out how to be effective down low. Shorter guys like Ben Wallace and Amar'e Stoudemire were able to play in the paint because they were athletic and abnormally strong.

yeah I kinda wonder about the stretch 4 with bagley also. is aytons footwork demarcus cousins level coming out? cause that cat had fantastic feet. I do agree with boik that Ayton can be lazy at times but so can embiid.

Worrying about Bagley is ridiculous imo. Hes 234 as a 19 year old. He can add weight and muscle as needed to bang down low. Hes a better and smarter player then Ayton imo.

Great. Now I’m going to watch the entire draft holding my breath, even though deep down I know damn well they won’t make a move.

Honestly, it might make more sense for them to get a 2nd. That’s where they’ve drafted the best over the years.

Nah, I liked Steph a lot coming out. I see very different players. Maybe it’s the age difference as people forget Steph stayed 4 years. Steph played a more controlled, smarter game at the same age. His use of picks and his handle to create space is better then Young’s is now. While part of it is projection, I don’t see the similarities many see there. Young plays a much more out of control style at times.

This is going to be an interesting one to watch. Will Howard go for the money (certainly realistic given his history), or will he join a championship contender? After a career of proving he's not a star that's going to take you to the promised land, he could win a championship as a complementary piece, and be very effective in that role.
