Yeah Boston hard passes on that clogger too I hope. Talk about a guy that underachieved. All he needed was a back to the basket post game and he’d have been an all timer but nope. I’m not trying to go home in the second round forcing minutes with that guy.
Haven’t seen him in a while but he looked more athlete than basketball player as a rookie. So did jaylon brown but I guess Winslow hasn’t made the same strides
He finally started to show some flashes down the stretch, and then was very good in the playoffs. He still has some offensive limitations, but at the very worst, he's a good role player on a good team, who can do a lot of different things for you, and even play all 5 positions at times. Personally, I hope he wouldn't be a throw in to dump salary, but I'd be ok with him netting Miami a draft pick, or as part of a bigger deal to bring back a good player like a DeRozan, who Miami is reportedly interested in.
Would you trade him for a lottery pick or wait it out another year to see the development? I doubt it would get you top 8 in this class.
Damn...Dallas trades for Doncic. That means they are going to throw max at either Capela or Boogie. Damnit!
Woj just got on before the Atlanta pick to announce the Dallas/Atlanta trade and not only spoiled the Atlanta pick, but also who Dallas is going to pick. That’s dumb as **** to me. Why can’t they just trade the picks straight up like the NFL draft?
I'd trade him for a mid 1st. They might even trade him for a pick in the 20's which I'd have mixed feelings about. There are some Indy rumors, and I believe they pick 22. Another part of the equation is next year is his last year on his contract. So if he continues on this trajectory, someone is probably going to offer him a decent amount of money. That could be part of why Miami would be open to trading him now.
Yep. I also think DiVincenzo and Huerter are guys the Heat would like. And according to Barry Jackson, a guy they had some interest in is Chandler Hutchison.
So, at the end of the day, the Suns traded Dragic for Mikal Bridges as they gave up both picks traded to them in the Dragic deal to swap up for Bridges. On a related note, it sucks for Bridges. His mom works for the 76ers, and both her and Mikal were elated to be going there. Apparently he was doing a press conference talking about being a Sixer when the trade went down.
If Divicenzo has a career Steve Novak he will be lucky... definitely not a guy i use with a first round pick.
The Heat attempted to trade Winslow to get into the first round but failed. I expect they will start looking for offers on whiteside and dragic. I think Riley has his eye on Dwight if he gets bought out.
And a 42 inch vertical (highest of anyone at the combine). People see a white guy, and lump him in with unathletic shooters, but he's explosive. At the end of the night, the Heat did end up with a more traditional white player as they added Duncan Robinson to their summer league team. He's a guy who they were reported to be high on, and a possibility if they moved into round 2. They have a pretty good track record with undrafted players, and especially shooters, so he'll be one to keep an eye on.
Bagley did a lot to help his case for future star by standing next to Ayton and looking tall. I still see Bagley as needing to become Kevin Love to succeed. That 5-15 feet from the basket big is dead, especially for smaller guys. If Bagley can become an Al Horford or Kevin Love type I think he can have success. In fairness to Bagley, I have concerns with Ayton too. He was able to abuse the relatively smaller and certainly less talented college ranks in large part because he's bigger than everyone and athletic. I think his footwork and physical tools will see him succeed, but he could go down the Greg Oden path of college beast who leaned on his biology a little too much. If Bagley is able to develop into that stretch player, it'll be Oden/Durant all over again. Also, to clarify, I don't think Bagley stinks, I just don't think what he was doing at Duke is going to translate to the NBA with his size. Along with freaks like AD and Embiid, you have smaller forwards like Green who can still take advantage of physical weakness down low and move Bagley out of the paint (not that he was going to block anything).
I think a lot of people are going to be surprised. He had a 42" vertical...im not saying hes going to be an all star but this isnt Steve Novak, Ryan Anderson, or JJ Redick.
I really like what the Mavericks are doing. Doncic was my favorite player in the draft, and fits really well with Dennis Smith Jr. (one of my favorite players in last year's draft). I know they are rumored to be going after Boogie, but if I were them my target would be Capela. And if not him, I'd take a run at Julius Randle. Build a young team that can compete when the Warriors run is over.
According to him, Hitler was a great thinker: https://www.si.com/nba/2018/06/21/d...walker-wild-conspiracy-theories-giants-hitler
Do you have the interview because that article doesn't say that. Apparently the question he was asked was about his favourite conspiracies. His answer seems to be that one is that perhaps Hitler and his wife didn't die but escaped - part of the rationale being that Hitler was powerful and admired. So nothing definite there to suggest Lonnie thinks he was a great thinker. And I'd rather have some basketball insight on him if anyone who follows college/U of M has any.
Like I said, I'm really interested in Lonnie as a basketball player, that's what I'd like to hear. Of course, if it came out he was a Nazi or highly valued Hitler's ideas, or even that Hitler was just misunderstood, that would be concerning to some degree. Although he then likely wouldn't survive long in the Spurs' environment, I suspect. However, I've watched the video and basically he states that he believes the conspiracy theory that Hitler escaped and didn't die in Germany because he was smart enough, and good enough at influencing people, to have a plan and find a way out. That implies that he believes Hitler was a great strategic thinker. It's an explicit statement that he believes Hitler was an intelligent man. It in no way indicates that Lonnie thinks Hitler had good ideas or was a good man, just an intelligent one, both strategic and effective. The validity of Lonnie's opinions on Hitler's intelligence aside, and any faults with the conspiracy, this doesn't indicate in any way that he holds any majorly distasteful opinions. So I'm not concerned. If anyone has any basketball insight on Lonnie's Miami days on the court, I'd appreciated them. Thanks.
I took it he meant great as in a powerful, influential leader, which he obviously was. I watched a lot of the hurricanes last year as I do every year. I think you should be stoked on this pick especially where you got him. His shooting form is good, he can hit the 3 and has hit multiple game winning shots. He’s super athletic and can pull some prime D rose acrobatic moves around the rim. He can improve on his passing which I think he will in San Antonio. He needs the ball in his hands though, but if and when kawhi leaves y’all are gonna need that anyway. His defense can be lazy but I see San Antonio making him an engaged defender because he has the ability. He kind of ruined Miami at the end against Loyola with a turnover and missed free throws but so did Kawhi against Miami in the 13 finals and he’s still an mvp candidate.
Walker has tons of ability, but needs development. He probably went to the perfect situation. He was one of the highest regarded recruits Miami has had in a long time, but his start to his career was slowed by an injury in the offseason. He came off the bench to start the year before hitting his stride culminating in his big game against BC where he hit the game winner. He's a freak athlete that can get to the basket, and can hit the 3 (although currently it's more streaky than consistent). He has raw defensive ability, but needs to develop there IMO.
Also, offloading that deal. Unfortunately, we were pushing that #Loyalty thing and it came back to bite us.
yeah I saw him a few times and that would be my assessment also. raw lots of upside I like divencenzo also. more polished game similar type athlete which thrives in the nba.
Lonnie's a great athlete with a better shooting stroke than most raw super-athlete wings. Great length too. His issue is tunnel vision and general awareness/IQ in the half court. Doesn't know how to attack or playmake with his eyes up to see teammates. It's probably something that can be coached over a couple years, but it's a strange habit to have at this point in his basketball life. I've read that the real red flag is his medical, which is why he fell out of the lottery.
As I was saying: Supposedly the Heat aren't interested in any contracts that run longer than 2 years, so they probably won't be interested, but I think Minny wants out of that contract.
Wiggins has 5 years left and is due quite a bit of money over that span. Probably better just ride out Whiteside this year and hope he opts out next year.
What pull has he shown? Two Superstars from Cali wanting to play for a legendary team isn't really pull. LeBron is linked there but not because of Magic. The era of the big FA pitch is essentially over and the ability to compete right away is very important. Pat hasn't put together a team or a plan, yet, that these guys find attractive.
ESPN reporting the Lakers and Spurs are working on a trade that will send Kawhi Leonard to Los Angeles. LeBron James is expected to sign with the Lakers if they close the deal with Kawhi.
