We all know you are getting a little nervous. When lebron shows up in your conference you should. Kawhi shows up lakers might have a Durant counter.
I was nervous when I thought they were about to put together a superteam. They've gone from Lebron, PG, and Kawhi to THIS. They only have $2 mil in cap space left. They used their 4.4 room exemption on Lance. Kawhi or Boogie is looking very unlikely.
All them lakers fans that converted to warrior fans the last four years are in a pickle... where to bandwagon to..
What if the bandwagon Cavs fans become warrior fans because they’re mad at Lebron for leaving and the bandwagon warrior fans go become bandwagon Lebron fans?
As much as I would hate the LaVarr show, I'd do that in a second. You're saving money, getting younger, and that Deng contract will be a trade chip next year as an expiring deal. You'd be out of the whale market in FA for a couple of years, but you already were.
I honestly can't see how the Lakers keep Lonzo. I'd imagine he's now a trade chip for them. I doubt LeBron wants anything to do with that sideshow, and even more than that, Lonzo is a horrible fit with LeBron. He needs a PG that brings value off the ball. Unless his jumper improves greatly, that isn't him. He's almost worthless on the court with LeBron.
I think Lonzos gone. If pop really doesn’t want him then a 3rd team will jump in. I don’t believe for one second that Lebron isnt obsessed with beating Golden State and isn’t orchestrating moves with Magic.
I dont think Kawhi gets traded in the offseason. If im the Spurs, i hold onto him until the deadline. Watch the Lakers go barely .500 and then have them get desperate and offer the house.
Apparently the Lakers have been lowering their offer in each subsequent negotiation. If they renounce Randle, waive/stretch Deng, and the 1 year deals expire, what would LA have available next off-season?
They'd have a max slot. And that appear to be what they're doing. Sign guys to 1 year deals unless they can trade for a star. That could lead to a long year one in LA, but could land them a really nice team next offseason. I bet you that Kawhi isn't the only trade they're looking at, though. I'd be almost anything that they've made calls about guys like Lillard and Wall.
Going on a minor rant... I really hate the current trend of superstars moving around all over the place. I'm sure it happened in the past too, so the weight of the present might be bearing down here, growing up watch ball in the 90s it felt like stars had strong team connections. LeBron to the Lakers just feels weird. I mean he's a Cav then he's with the Heat then a Cav again and now a Laker. It's just rough for the fans. Particularly because star talent to build your team around can be hard to come by. People are passionate about their teams and it just seems more and more mercenary. Durant. Kawhi - maybe. Paul. Kyrie. Wade - to a lesser extent. Etc. Pivotal players who left. Not all with the same story, of course, but it just feels like that team pride or commitment that was there isn't as much now. Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe it's always been this way. But I feel for the fans of lesser franchises who finally get that great talent and then watch them walk away. Instead of building a team, they go looking for whatever. It sucks.
I don't have a problem with stars changing teams. They're doing what they feel is best for them. But I've said this before, and I'll say it again. LeBron to LA is a weird fit, and might not go as smoothly as he thinks it will. This is Kobe's town, and because of that, it was a LeBron hater town for a very long time. Now, there are plenty of people who have changed their tune, and love that LeBron is here, but those fans are still loyal to Kobe first, and there are actual Lakers fans that aren't happy about this, as silly as that is. I honestly don't think LeBron will ever overtake Kobe, and if they don't win, he could turn into a punching bag. This situation reminds me so much of the A-Rod to the Yankees situation, except in this case, Kobe (the Jeter role) is no longer playing.
It certainly seems like they're banking on Kawhi this year, or a star FA next year. They're certainly taking a real gamble here. Playing hard ball on Kawhi, and letting a very good player in Randle go, is playing with fire. It could pay off in a huge way, but if it doesn't, ouch.
LOL, so now the Lakers have two PGs who can't shoot that will have to play off the ball with LeBron. There aren't many worse fits at PG in the league.
I think he fits in well with the pelicans... I dont see how he fits with the Lakers... they have zero shooting as of right now.... i guess if it doesnt work he, stephenson and javale will be waived. The lakers got nothing to lose, but the pieces dont make sense.
That's exactly it, though. Kobe is also highly overrated by Lakers fans. LeBron is better than Kobe, just like A-Rod was better than Jeter. But Yankees fans would never admit that, just like Lakers fans probably never will.
Wow. Interesting move. Does Davis go to the 5? I like Randle, so I like the move. That probably means Boogie is gone, though.
I almost feel bad for Lebron. Oh wait, no I don’t. Was it a dare with Wade? Did he see what Wade won the ‘06 title with and decided to try and top it? Yikes. They would have been better off just getting rid of Lonzo and keeping everyone and Lebron. Maybe adding Ariza?
LeBron never surpassed Wade for me as a favorite player so I can see LeBron never being embraced as a favorite son in LA over Kobe. Being the better player isn't enough.
