Yea after the VVD fiasco during last summers window the club has gotten real tight lipped about negotiations and signings. Heck the Fabinho signing was out of the blue as well. I don't mind it all if they club keeps operating like this if it means more signings. I'd loved to have Shaqiri on the bench, and for games after big UCL matches, he'll be good depth and not very old (I just had to look that up cause I thought he was like 30, he's only 26).

Looks like Roma aren't budging on there valuation of Allision (IMHO don't blame them) and we won't pay their asking price. Seems his future will be sorted after WC.

Wow, yeah didn't realize Shaq was only 26. His reported 15m fee has to be way off.

Slower than usual transfer window because of the World Cup.... Don't mind one bit haha. I have seen last few days that it's possible that the Fekir deal could be resurrected after World Cup. Also Keita will be wearing #8, big shoes to fill.

Ings wants a move away, honestly think that might be best for him unfortunately. I really like him, but I just don't see him getting the playing time he needs to improve further. Origi gonna be given a chance to convince Klopp to keep him around.

Shaqiri close... the sooner I can get back to focusing on LFC the better. Now that England have been knocked out that is. It was a nice run, but it just wasn't their time yet. Best of luck to Dejan... I reckon France will likely win however.

Supposedly Karius had another howler. That is not good. Time to give Ward a BIG shot IMO.

Fekir, not done yet. We may be circling back on that one. Time will tell.

August 9th is the end of the transfer deadline now. How do we follow up last season's run?

Condolences for the England loss. I was rooting for Reds to play well, which both Hendo and Lovern did. They are are pretty young team, this experience and getting 4 years older should put them in prime position to challenge for it next time.

Yea Shaqiri will be in next few days. I think its going to be a great great signing. He could be that super sub we need, really excited about it. Fekir meet with Lyon President Aulas a few days ago, rumored that he asked him to reopen negotiations with Liverpool. We'll see, not getting my hopes up just yet.

Yea Karius might not recover from that final, read today that Klopp is giving Ward extended look and chance to be #1. I'm totally fine with this approach. The GKs that Klopp wants are super over priced right now.

Supposedly we're back in on Alisson. I wouldn't mind it, not my money  If we can lock him up and get Fekir in, that's a nice transfer window. Would still like a pure striker to backup Firmino. Adding another CB at this stage doesn't look likely. With Lovren impressing at the WC and growing in confidence (he never really lacked it), we've got a bunch of players behind them that are capable but not ideal. Is a bit risky given VVD's slight injury history (?). Will also be interesting what happens with Origi and Sturridge. At this stage, I'd like to keep one of them for depth purposes.

Well pretty much official for Allison!! Hefty fee for him, but in Klopp we trust. If he wanted him for that price, it says alot. Official introduction for Allison will either be later today after the match or tomorrow. This has been an amazing transfer window for us.

Who knows what's going on with Fekir. Apparently Lyon schedule a ceremony for him.

Well what a transfer season it has been so far; and man the boys look like they did last season, Allison appears to be an upgrade already in just the little service I have seen, that bodes well and if Lovren can keep his confidence up and VVD keep running that line we should be far better, not only that Sturridge looks fit and ready for a season, fingers crossed he can stay healthy. Trying to get over to England, son is going to Uni there starting next September (2019) so we need to go visit a few, and want to time it with a game.

Oh man what a start to the season!! Naby is as advertised and then some, Mane straight balling. Mo doing what Mo does, last touch wasn't there today but he made himself a nuisance with the penalty created and causing the red card. Man if that was a match last year we could have easily let in an easy goal, huge the difference one year makes.

Allison seems like he is going to be well worth it. I counted 3 long balls he purposely pulled in the CP high press to drop a ball in front of Mane, or Bobby. Some good saves when called into action, and great getting the ball going back the other way. I could write a whole paragraph on each guy lol, TAA rust looks like its gone. Robo was doing Robo stuff and loved his play. Gomez looking more comfortable as well. Few mistakes but we recovered and didn't panic when we made them.

Yep, definitely a game last season that we would have struggled to get all 3 points. Allison is proving to be the final piece that was missing. I'd like to see Fabinho and Henderson in the next game as it's a "short week." Definitely want to see Milner get a rest. Gini has been very workmanlike.

Klopp has a "problem" on his hands in that he needs to cycle these guys thru and keep a high level of form in the team. It's a good problem to have, but it is something he needs to manage. Last season, we were so thin, he didn't need to do it. This is a different year though. Especially if we want a trophy or two.... I'm not sure about doing it with the front three because they are so great, but we need to keep Sturridge (looks like he is staying) and Shaqiri in form.

On a negative, I'm not sure what to do with Lallana. He needs a run, he is way out of sync with the team. He had a good spell at one point last season (or was it before) with Klopp. Fitting in and playing good team ball. But he's far from that at the moment. Or so it would seem.

Yep it's for sure a good problem to have. Hopefully we can have that problem throughout the season lol. I think once the cup ties and champion leagues group stages start we'll start to see the rotation to the team. Listening to Klopp, it sounds like the club is going to slowly ease Fabinho in, which I'm totally fine with. It worked wonders with Ox (still so gutted for him :cry:), so I'm inclined to wait.

As for Lallana, I feel the same with him too. His good spell was definitely was two seasons ago, he was injured nearly the entire season last year (just checked he only had 11 appearances). I think the best scenario is making the most of his playing time in cup tie and league matches after CL group stage matches. He just needs to get that real game experience in and I think he'll be back to his old self.

So I it's been a whirlwind past couple weeks. Just a week after the match I headed to Japan for a little over a week with the kiddo. Forgot to post my pics from the Liverpool v Manchester United match at the big house.

Was surreal finally getting to sing YNWA and with so many other supporters. We had so much fun suiting in the supporters section, can't wait to do it at Anfield now even more. Kiddo and I where grinning ear to ear the entire match. And the cherry on top was witnessing Shaqiri bicycle kick, absolutely stunning to witness that in person!! Here's a pic of us and an album link to a few others, [IMG]

Well we got a decent champions league group. Nothing near as hard as group A or B. I think PSG will be a good barometer for early in the season, Napoli will be tricky but we should take care of business against them. Overall happy with the draw, I was hoping for group D before Schalke got it before us lol.

Well that was a good morning's football! Apart from the scrappy goal again after we had subs I thought our defense with Allisson held up bloody well and neutralized Kane and the rest at home. Five out of Five now to start the season, and bloody close to having 5 clean sheets too really. Bring on PSG Tuesday, they are looking tough but not sure if that is because their league is weak or they are that good. Likely a cmpbo!

Great start to the season. Scoreline flattered Tottenham. Probably should have been a pen at the end, but that's karma for Lamela diving last season at Anfield. LFC should have scored at least two or three more. Dominant for most of the match. My #1 goal right now is to win the league. The other three trophies (League Cup, FA Cup, CL) are lesser wants at the moment. Looks like Firmino will be okay. Will be interesting to see the lineup we put out vs PSG. Is it mostly the same or are there wholesale changes? I suspect Hendo will start. Milner from the bench. I'd think the rest will be mostly the same. Maybe see Shaqiri in? Maybe Fabinho?

The League is definitely our target but I am hoping for it to be a fairly strong squad against PSG as I think we will need to win all of our home games as I would like us to do well in CL. Would love to Fabinho and Shaqri and even Sturridge have a greater part of the game. Really looking forward to seeing Fabinho actually. Going to England early next year, my son is looking at University of Liverpool as one of the Unis he would like to attend so will be doing my best to get in a game at Anfield, just depends on when we are able to travel.

Absolutely magical. And Firminos goal probably doesnt happen iif he starts. Think of that.

So many great performances But not to dwell on the obvious but Salah has not been himself since the injury. Can we afford to rest him in the hopes of getting him going? Shaqiri should start on Saturday regardless.

ugh, just got done watching the Napoli match... I guess you give them credit for fighting us all the way. Really sluggish performance though. Just didn't get anything going offensively. Wonder how much the Keita injury took out of their passion to get forward. MF looked really disconnected from the front three. Man C at home is a must win. Will be interesting to see if they make changes. Fabinho might be needed to start. Salah continues to be off.

Man looks like we both took a bit of a break. City match was deserved draw, great game too (besides the penalty). We've little by little started to coming alive, Fabinho finally getting some match time and it shows why we paid for him. Glad Klopp has taken this approach with new signings and not rush them in, seems to help them. Things are slowing down, so I should be on and posting more.

Yeah the international break doesn't help here hah. It's hold your breath and hope nobody gets hurt time. But Salah has seemingly come on the last two matches. He's still not back to where he was last season. But at least he is scoring and seemingly happy after he does. There was a game a couple of weeks ago when he scored and he wasn't happy. Hopefully that's just him expecting more of himself rather than being pissed off at the team for whatever reason. And to be fair that hasn't been reported at all (that I've seen).

This is certainly a different team this season in that we aren't as prolific offensively. We're not necessarily crushing our opponent. But defensively, we're clearly better. And you assume that one helps the other in that regard. Winning 1-0 or 2-0, vs 3-1 or 4-2. Hey whatever gets it done in the end. Are we not pressing as much in the other team's half? And does that help keep our guys fresher throughout the season? Although, since we have a deeper bench, is that having an effect on our offense? Shaqiri clearly a star in that regard. Lallana not so much.

Big game tomorrow @ Arsenal. A win and we keep on rolling. A loss, depending on how, would be tough. A tie might be in the offing. The long game is definitely us vs Man City for the title. We are chasing them, no doubt about it.

Arsenal was okay... but Tue's UEFA game very much not okay. Klopp went with some replacement players and they literally screwed the pooch. Sturridge missed an absolute sitter. Game could have gone much differently had we taken the lead there.

Nice 3 points away at Watford. First half had me wondering what could happen if we don't score. You saw the importance of Allisson in this game as well. He'd been pretty much left to pick grass for most of the first half. And then he's called into action and he comes thru. Had Watford scored first, it could have been a much different outcome.

I suppose the only negative was Hendo going out on a second yellow and he'll miss the derby. Will be interesting to see how we setup for that. Do we start Shaqiri again and go with two of Milner/Gini/Fabinho as holding MFers? Fabinho has had some shaky moments in my opinion in that he seems to jump up and leave space behind exposing the CB's to direct contact with two forwards.

Big game away at PSG on Wednesday (?). Although we can still get thru with a loss as it'll likely come down to the home contest vs Napoli.

Aint that the truth lol. But 1-0 did the trick, and Allison has been so worth the money. I will say that I was slightly worried with the midfield that Klopp choose, but again those guys are the most experienced in high pressure CL games. Keita looked great once again as he has the last few matches, along with Fabinho as well when he came on. Great ****ing week, top of the table and last 16 in CL.

I also got lucky and snagged tickets during the members sale to the Watford match Feb 27 at Anfield. Going with my brother and dad, going to be an awesome trip to Anfield. Get to do a week of sightseeing as well, ending with the match. Will be nice to be back in England, miss living over there.

Man, the last several weeks have been so fantastic! What a Boxing Day! 6 points clear of Tottenham and 7 of Man City! Woohoo!!!

I love this team. They are at times a bit sketchy in the mid-field but certainly have a great deal of depth there and offensively Shaqiri is really developing confidence.

Defense is looking fantastic with Van Dyke (I think he is one of the best defenders in the world) and Lovren.

I hope this keeps up - it's been so fantastic. About as ideal a season as we could have so far. Still a shot at the 3 big cups (EPL, Champions, and FA - but a tough game against the Wolves).

Aside from Liverpool (been a fan since watching Owen and Gerrard as youngsters), my 2nd favorite team for quite a while has been Tottenham - due to their English contingent of Kane and Alli and they just moved into 2nd. That would be a perfect finish to me. And, even though I'm not much of a ManU fan, I would love to see them edge up over Chelsea or Arsenal (not a fan of either of thsoe teams but I do like Eden Hazard - amazing talent to watch).

Oh man, what a festive holiday season its been for us!! The early season 1-0 wins have given the club so much confidence going forward, and its starting to show on the scoreline. I think it has shown that all our summer signings are paying off in dividends, the team is further understanding Klopp's tactics. Just wait till Bobby gets in form, boy we are in for a ride!!! I still can't believe though that City has dropped so many points.

Looking forward to the upcoming Arsenal match and then the City match. I think we have the ability to win both, and I think they will. Trying to be cautious with my expectations though. LESS THAN TWO MONTHS TILL WE GO TO ANFIELD, GETTING SO STOKED!!!

I really need to hang out in here more often. Our Dolphins are so depressing and this LFC team has been so amazing. Alisson and VVD have taken this team to new heights. Gini Wijnaldum is the most underrated player on the team in my opinion. We have depth in the mid field for a great run. A little thin at CB now with Virgil and Lovren the only healthy options. Got to get Joe Gomez back. I suppose Fabinho could go CB in an emergency.

I didn't expect this to happen so quickly after we sold Coutinho. and it's not like he's been replaced. The odd thing is that before he was sold, I reckon we were playing a different style. He wasn't the kind of player that Klopp really wanted as far as someone who was going to chase down and sacrifice on defense. Spectacular offensive player. But an all around Klopp specialist? Nope. That's where you have the starting XI all working together right now.

The upcoming Man City match is going to be huge. the delta is 7 points. Could go as low as 4... or as high as 10. I'll be happy with 7 (a tie).

Stay the course. An early exit from the FA Cup and/or Champions League might be a good thing but screw it. Lets try to win everything we are in. This is the mindset we should have. It's what Klopp will have in his head. He's not going to hold back. Enjoy the ride rest of the way!

Starting Hendo, Milner and Gini in midfield today, for first time since we drew earlier vs Man City at Anfield. Think that was 0-0? Could be in for another low scoring game. Could be a thriller. Not sure what to expect  Nervous time...

I haven’t been this nervous before a sporting event in a long, long time. Several years.

This is amazing. The Premier League is such a great league for a great sport.

Liverpool can nearly secure the league here. Win or a draw and I’ll be happy.

    Go Reds!!

I think that midfield lineup hurt Liverpool.

They were defensive but had little attack ability (Milner had some good stuff early but then just faded offensively). That played right into Man City's hands as they decided to pressure the ball so emphatically. But, those defensive oriented midfielders were not deft enough to overcome the pressure.

I think Klopp - whom I love to death - should have gone with Shaqiri (though he had a terrible pass late in the game) and Fabinho earlier in the 2nd half (Or better - to start them). I think that would have made Man City either back off on the pressure or it would have allowed Liverpool to attack that over aggressive pressure. But the front three really had few feeds from the middle of the field b/c there was no quickness or sharp passers. Liverpool's front three are great - though Sane did not play super great today - but they need people to feed them.

You have to threaten a team that presses hard to get them to back off. It's that way in every sport. If a basketball team goes into full court press, you want players with offensive talent to attack. If a defense puts 9 men in the box in football, you need a QB & WR who can burn them deep. Same in futbol ... Man City basically went "full-field-press" - and Liverpool needed attackers in the midfield to temper that pressure.

I wasn't as upset with the loss at Man City; I thought we played better than them and they had to win, it was almost backs against the wall for the citizens. This week match against the Seagulls to me was far more important, in years past this was the match we lose, against a decent team but still bottom half, a team that had not been denied at home in ages. The match went they way I thought it would, in fact I saw two matches at the old Hove stadium back in the 80's and we didn't win bloody either! Our chances that were beaten back by an organised team, but we kept on coming, they had some decent organisation our D was up to the task, even with Fabinho playing CB. Back up to 7 points ahead and hopefully wolves repeat their magic tomorrow, especially as I have no City players on my FPL team and two Wolves on the bench.

So my son is going to start uni in England this fall; we are going to tour Unis this February, flying in and out of Manchester. I am going to be back in Manchester area the night of the Liverpool Bayern CL match!!! I am desperately wanting to get tickets for the match, I cannot believe I will be there at the same time. It would be absolutely magic! 8pm time allows me to get up to that area and back to Manchester to fly out there the next morning! I really hope I manage to get the game in!

Oh you lucky dog. So IIRC VVD is out for the first leg? I pray Joe Gomez is back by then???? Lovren and Matip... or Lovren and Fabinho... that's not going to get it done for me.

I was thinking who our team MVP is this year... after watching that awful FA Cup tie vs Wolves... I can't figure out if it's VVD or Alisson. I mean Mignolet was absolutely horrible. Can you imagine what it would look like if he had to be our #1? That's why Alisson might be the team MVP. But then VVD is just such a great centre back. He makes everything look so easy. A distant 3rd has to be Robertson. I mean last season it's Salah, but he is slightly off that pace (how could he not be?) and the other forwards have picked up their game. Still a solid front three, but there's not an MVP there this season. I might put Gini as 4th on the list. He's so underrated.

Of course I reserve the right to change my mind before the end of the season...
