According to reports, these two position groups seem to be the weakest.

Honestly, it makes sense and is a good thing.

OL has three new starters. And they haven't been in pads yet. I like the individual pieces, I think they just need to gel. Right now, not too worried. If still not up to par by 2nd preseason game...worry.

Backup QB is a bit different. I think it'll be Fales and I'm okay with that--as long as it's just a series or two, ie, Ryan has equipment malfunction or concussion protocol. Might even be ok for a game. If RT is out for extended time, oh well.

Very encouraged by DEs and DBs. I like our LBs. A few good reports on Baker. Chase Allen seems to be a keeper. This defense could be really good.

I've been bullish on Isaiah Ford for a while..I like our WRs very much. I think our TEs are going to be good.

Great to hear Ballage is flashing. If hes a contributor, our RBs are going to be very strong.

Now, the pads aren't on and that could CHANGE EVERYTHING.

But, provided we dont have a meltdown and if the OL comes together and protects RT, and Ryan is really as good as Gase seems to think, I think we can battle for the division.

In a gazzion years first time I haven't been plugged into the Fins at this stage. (a bit more now that they actually are in gear and playing mode not the shorts and skipping stage.

Highly disappointed in the previous years with Gase and co. and truthfully at the start of the new season was almost indifferent or as detach a possible for one still bleeding the Aqua and Orange for 50 years.

    But !
Have to say that they blew my mind somewhat in first realizing and doing something in the OL department. Two "quality" pick ups and let me stress quality being the distinctive factor ( compared with past pretend upgrades of more fingers crossed for starter hasbeens).
A good draft (still to be determined) and a quality free agency of Quinn,Sitton,Wilson, Amendola, Spence,Gore that should add some future excitement to a team in my opinion that was just treading water.
RT Healthy and if just somewhat better than mediocre ( which should be the bottom of ability) another plus.
Gase another year of HC experience (Im sure will help). And fingers crossed he also develops into a future coach of quality.....(Not seen yet IMO, but one I'd given up on, but with the new direction witnessed, willing to give him another clean slate for this year and see how he's grown)
New coaching staff IMO doesn't need much to consider an improvement over previous crack experts.

Don't want to bang the drum of finatical exuberance but think we have a decent shot at the playoffs for those who get wet over a playoff appearance, but if not and more importantly see a solid year of strengthening our team. With and equal effort next year or two think we can actually be talking about something not really experienced in decades, a shot at real contention.

Concerns? (understanding Rome wasn't built in a day)
Would have grabbed a quality LB (Kendrickish) or other.
And another high quality road paving G, but thats just me....

Think Gase and company did an exceptional job this off season and hoping it all gels together quickly.
Wilson, Amendola should bring some major toe tingling to our fans this year...Oh ya throw in Fitz and that potential implication....

PS, have to say really pleased with the effort and direction of this off season, considering I was expecting another ho-hum season as in the past 2 decades....

I read a news piece the other day that said the coaches were borderline shocked at how much Ford improved this off-season. A few have used the word "superstar" so I'm excited to see him crack the rotation this season. Miami is going to have a tough time figuring out their receiver corps- do we finally give up on Carroo? I've heard he's playing well but no specific details- which makes me think it's more hype than anything.

    From PFT:

The Dolphins offensive line play has been problematic over the last few years and the team’s offensive line coach hasn’t seen things come together as he hoped at this point in the calendar.

Jeremiah Washburn said that he likes having starters set at all five positions, including new left guard Josh Sitton and center Daniel Kilgore, but that a cohesive unit is not developing “fast enough” for his liking.

“We’re not near where we need to be,” Washburn said, via the Miami Herald. “I think Adam [Gase] said the same thing [Saturday]. I do like our group. It’s a good group of guys. They’re working hard. But in terms of production, we’re not near where we need to be — protection, run game. We’re going to have to continue to work at it.”

There’s over a month before the start of the regular season, so there’s still time for things to gel as hoped up front in Miami. If not, there will be a familiar feeling in Miami once the games start to count.

I understand what he's saying there, but I feel that most people would take it our of context. It's day 4 of practice and obviously there's still a lot of work to do.

I agree that those sound like the weakest areas per reports. We knew that back-up QB would be weak. I actually don't see Fales as any worse than Moore was. I'm not high on Fales, I just think Moore was over-rated by us fans.

I think it's early to worry about the OL. We won't know much until we get to pads and even then the defense should still be ahead for the first couple of weeks. OL development is always about cohesiveness, that takes time. I am encouraged that we seem to have a starting five named early on. That should give them the maximum amount of time to develop that cohesiveness. I really believe that that was a failure of past regimes. Talent was a factor, but if you don't give an OL group time to learn to work together then you're adding on another handicap. I really like our DE talent so I expect that group to give any OL fits. I'll reserve judgment until I see these guys in a few preseason games.

I will stick with lbs being the biggest weakness. I'm not concerned about the o line and I know gase can scheme to limit it's exposure as a play caller if he has to

I read somewhere that the offensive line problems might be due to the defensive line playing awesome. We won' really know till we play against other teams.

I do really like our DEs. I would expect them to give any Ts a tough time.

Felt like we heard this a lot when Suh was here. Then we would push into the season with a bad O-line and a disappointing D-line. I really really really hope those days are behind us.

I think we have to give the line some time. They will only get better as they work together more. D-line on paper looks phenomenal, but I want to see the rotation working and have them OVER perform for once.

    Early problems ?
Understandable with Quinn and Wake....( stress word "early")

But realistically 99.9% of the time an OL actually needs time playing with each other and not a few days in pads.
Don't really know what we actually have besides the fact Sitton is a probowler which in most cases one could considered a good size plus...

Seems to be a fair share of new guys and changes through out the team to where trying to evaluate at this early stage might just be good for Forum dribble. Some of these guys are probably still trying to figure out how to get to the facilities....to early to really know what we have even for the coaching staff who likewise need time to see what they truly have to work with...

Realistically think the fictional approach of present evaluations might be made more feasible after a couple of pre season games and seeing the actual proof in the trenches. Damn half these guys have never played a single play in actual game situation with each other....

Advice at this stage...keep your fingers crossed

I'll be surprised if it isn't Fales, but we'll see.

I think that competition will come down to the preseason battle.

My god if we ever have to start either of those pukes!!
