Well said. Other than the delays, this game wasn't boring. That's all I ask. Keep me entertained. I asked for points, I got them. Im not complaining...YET. Keep it up. I want 35 points next game.
Well I missed the 2nd half due to the game suspension, could not hang on for so long i had things to do... I cant believe i missed all the excitement! I saw the replays for Grant and stills TD's wow! When was the last time a Dolphins team was so ready to play, intense etc.. any game like this during any season?? Nothing compares to how amazing things look when you take away the little mistakes etc... This is gonna be great going forward! It can only get better from what i see!
I get what you are saying there, to an extent with what we've seen from him over his career I'd agree about the inconsistency. However, last time we saw him he was on a roll. That was over 600 days ago since he played again. I'm willing to give him a pass there today with it being his first game back, and I'd say it's going to take him a couple more to get back up to speed. If he remains inconsistent all year, then yeah, the concern is strongly there, and warranted. That second one, I think there was some sort of miscommunication there with him and Grant. Not only was it overthrown, it was also a good 7-10 yards towards the middle of the field. It's just too wild of a miss to be a poor throw. One of them missed something, or didn't read something the same way. Since Grant seemed so open on that play, I'm thinking Tannehill, but without the all22 view that's pretty hard to say. The one I'd get on him more for was the one to grant in double coverage. Wasn't picked, but should have been. That one was a concern for me too. Curious though to see how much is rust. Curious to see how he progresses through the year after so much time off.
It was raining, correct? Guys, you realize that no QB is perfect, right? People are complaining, which leads me to believe you wanted to see 400 yards, 5 TDS and no picks. Dude missed two seasons, and in his first game back, had multiple hour+ long delays messed up any rhythm that they were getting. WTF do you guys want?
Thats true, the delays would screw any QB up no matter who it was. RT has not played in over 650 days or so? Give him a break and the team today. They won, looked pretty damn good most of the time and survived another start to the season which involved the weather once again!
Nobody is calling for his head. Relax. I was okay with his performance. Again, 1st half was great 2nd not so much. But the delay, the rain, the 1.5 year layoff....its not shocking. Good news is, Tannehill got a full game to shake some rust and yet the D and ST picked up the slack 2nd half, and we are 1-0 heading up to NY. We goin be alright.
I don't think you can judge much from this game. I mean, I wanted to give up and I was just watching it. I can't imagine how tiring and tedious it was for the players and anyway, you can't really judge a team until around game 4. I'm glad we won, though; I remember screwed up games like this that we've lost.
I don't understand this. The defense ALLOWED 20 points and they played really well but the offense scored 20 (27 if you wanna count Grant's kickoff return for a TD) and they need to step it up? We didn't win with a score in the teens...and it is only the first game of the season. The team will get better as the season goes on, barring any catastrophic injuries.
It was not even certain they'd finish the game today, I don't blame anyone who left. Anyone going to MetLife next week?
This a thousand times!!! I know I'm one of the older posters here and can remember when preseason games were 6 games, giving teams more time to iron out the kinks in their schemes before the start of the regular season. Now preseason is only 4 games and there are some on the boards that want to reduce it even more. Plain silly in my opinion but bottom line, you're right... You can't really judge a team until the 4th game of the season. That when you know what they are.
Well.. to be fair the defense gave up 13 not 20. Titans had a kickoff return TD too. Once you remove special teams TD's, average PPG for the last decade runs around 21-22 ppg. So that's what I'd use as a rough benchmark, and from that point of view the offense was OK while the defense was above average. For one game only of course. We'll see how things play out over many games.
Yea, let me be one of the first with a large heaping of crow in my mouth for doubting the D this week. They played fantastic.
I know the only chances I might have are via p.m..... But does anyone have a link to get the full game download? I totally missed the game... Not to mention here in Orlando they didn't air it....
I fully agree- when they came out on that 2nd drive, they absolutely exploded down the field with ease. I don't remember seeing an offensive rhythm that sweet since the Marino years. They made it look so easy and it's all that ridiculous speed.
I don't think you could download it....the game took seven hours and nine minutes with all the rain delays. You're better off just watching the highlights because the play really dropped for both teams after the 1st and 2nd delay. Tackling got a lot sloppier, passes were dropped, etc. It was really anyone's game because folks looked exhausted. Minkah and Jones played a full game at full speed with full discipline...I can't really say that for anyone else on either team.
I meant the interior DL. Yeah, the lack of pressure from the ends was worrisome, but the interior guys minus Suh, looked pretty solid. I thought they would constantly get gashed by the run, but they didn't.
That really sucks....and I think it's a conversation that needs to be had internally within the league. The Titans got bludgeoned yesterday and that game shouldn't have happened under those conditions. I really felt for them throughout the 2nd half. As for Walker, it was nice to see all the Fins going up to him and wishing him luck. It was more than just a game to them at that point and that's how it should be.
I've been to many games I'm from South Florida. And yes it is easy to say I wouldn't a abandon my team especially if I paid for Tix. I'd be the 1/4 that got moved to the lower bowl after the Richie Rich's bailed.
Well you are a better man than I am, I brought my 6month old and we werent staying for 8 hours. $25 tickets are not going to break my bank account. The last part of my original reply was uncalled for but I stand behind the first part. Its easy to talk when you don't show up at all.
A seven hour home game with two long delay, rains, sloppy conditions, and a team that had three of their best players on the offensive side of the ball knocked out of the game. It would have been an absolute embarrassment had we dropped this one. I'll take the win, but it's not the kind that gives me the warm and fuzzies inside ..... it was mediocre and 20pts on offense isn't going to cut it. Highlights: - A hard hitting defense knocking people out - Minkah, Minkah, Minkah - The Stills/Tannehill connection rekindled - Tannehill looked competent after nearly 2 years of not taking a regular season snap - Duo of Gore/Drake Not going to make any bold predictions after the NFL's longest game in history. It simply wasn't your typical game conditions. That Jets defense looks hungry so we better be careful in Week 2. As an aside, I continue to look forward to the creative use of Albert Wilson.
