Is not going to be easy. These guys are bringing it tonight. Darnold is excellent. Their defense is really good. We better play 10x better than we did Sunday or they'll beat us by 3 TDs. Anxious to see what Gase and Burke come up with.

It's never an easy game against the Jets...I'm really looking forward to it. The good news about our game is that it was so crazy, there's not nearly as much quality film as you'd get from a normal game. I'm sure we have plenty of surprises in store for them.

Remember that the Jets have one less day to prepare as well.

Patricia is in way over his head as a head coach. He'll be running back to Belichik after this season.

Ansah went out for the Lions, and Darnold has had all day to throw, plus the Jets OL has been good in run blocking. Stafford has had a meltdown game, so this game is a bit of an aberration. Lions certainly look like the fourth team the NFC North, but Miami needs to be ready to play a tough, tough game.

The Jets game is going to be tough, no doubt. But I almost feel like this stomping they're putting on the Lions may be a blessing in disguise for us. They'll have one less day to prepare for us and just might get overconfident after this game, maybe they'll let their guard down.

To build on that, and as biased as it may come off, I truly think this blowout is more a testament to the Lions' ineptitude than a sudden Jet's revelation. I wouldn't be surprised if Detroit is picking first overall come 2019.

A short passing attack and you will be fine. The Jets passing D isn’t that great. Running the ball will be playing into Jets strength.

The Lions weaknesses line up against the Jets strengths and vice versa, it's a great matchup for the Jets and it's showing. The Lions are hot garbage, and week 1 always produces some big abberations.

That said, the Jets are going to be dangerous. Their defense is real, and if Darnold isn't making mistakes, they have the potential to put up points. If we don't give up big plays and THill and the OL play sound ball, we should be OK.

Short passes to Darron Lee seems to be Matt Stafford's gameplan earlier.

I don’t think the Jets defense is that good. I really don’t. They have no pass rush. Stafford played poorly. That said, I don’t think your team is much better. Better? Yes. Good enough to win on the road? Not sure. End of the day, I don’t see either team winning a playoff game.

Not the way we're going to run the ball. =)

I'm telling you, the blocks they were throwing in that 1st quarter were vicious yesterday...it's the best I've ever seen from the Miami line. Bodies were hitting the floor left and right. And that one block on the Pat's ex-corner? Oh my goodness....it will probably be the best pulling guard block of the season. I don't care how good/bad another team is at run defense....we can run the damn football with authority.

Just posted some summary articles in the AFC East forum.

    Darnold looked sharp apparently.
However, the Jets defence have said they knew the Lions' run/pass plays from formation and hand signals. Apparently this was an issue in pre-season too.

The Dolphins should go into this one ready for a battle.

thank you. Jesters aren't that good. LIONS need to fire Jim Bob Cooter, the offensive coordinator because this has been a problem for years with the lions. The jets knew the plays before they were run. That's why the LIONS looked so bad and the Jets so good. We should wipe the floor with them

The Jests domination of the Lions was a bit of a surprise. Definitely gives pause. They've definitely earned respect points as a competitor. It should be an interesting game.

No doubt! The Jets RBs run hard, too. They are some big boys who keep churning their legs and don't go down easy. I hope our guys wrap up and don't just go for the big hit. These guys will bounce off that and keep grinding. The Jets D also looks to have great team speed. They probably match up well against us. We definitely have our work cut out for us. I know Gase loves a good challenge. This game will be a good test.

Biggest difference I want to see from game 1 to game 2? Pass rush. The Lions don't have a great pass rush unit and the Jets supposedly have a weak OL. The Lions couldn't capitalise on it, I think the Dolphins might need to.

The counter to this will be the Jets running the football, so this could prove to be a solid test and/or lesson for Gas and the Dolphins.

Darnold has proven big play ability. If they can't stop the run/get to that young QB then he could end up testing our secondary or we get embarrassed on the ground, or both.

We should have the talent to win this convincingly but these are the games where discipline is tested and essential. Especially if rival tensions run high.

Darnold looks like he's going to be a star in this league. Robby Anderson can burn any secondary in the league, and Bilal Powell is a very underrated back at this point, as is Crowell. Defensively, it's never been an issue with that team. Todd Bowles has always had a decent defense wherever he has been. This is by no means going to be an automatic win for us. Dolphins/Jets games are always thought provoking and polarizing one way or the other. The pattern seems to repeat itself every year....One of the games is a total blowout and the other game will be extremely close and competitive. The locations of where these events occur are usually randomized so we never know, but that seems to be how our games go with them. I'm not alone when I say that i'd prefer to just steamroll them into the grass (55-3) both times we play them, but that's not going to happen.

Here's some more on the Jets and those signals:

"There may be a reason why the New York Jets intercepted five passes from the Detroit Lions on Monday night.

Some Jets say that Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford tipped them off with hand signals so they knew what play was coming.

"We were calling out their plays as he was getting up to the line," linebacker Darron Lee, who picked off two passes said of Stafford. "We knew his signals."

Stafford was picked off four times in the Jets' 48–17 rout of Detroit. One of those interceptions was by Lee, who took it back 30 yards for a touchdown, the Jets' first defensive score in five seasons.

Morris Claiborne, Jamal Adams and Trumaine Johnson also intercepted passes during the game.

"We knew everything. That's just preparation as a defense. ... It seemed like we were in his head as a defense," Lee said.

Stafford completed 27 of 46 passes for 286 yards, with one touchdown and the Jets cashed in those four Stafford turnovers for 13 points.

"We was able to just take advantage of plays and stuff that we knew that they run a lot of," Claiborne said. "Our film study this week was great. It was probably one of the best I’ve been around as far as preparing for the game.""

    https://www.si.com/nfl/2018/09/11/new-york-jets-knew-lions-matthew-stafford-signals

If they really are preparing well, let's hope the bubble screen gets dropped this week... (I can dream, right?)

Well the Titans went Max Protect most of the time but yes we have to capitalize on our Pass rush. I'd like to see Quinn and Wake out there at the same time at least part of the game to really put the pressure on. I don't think they did against Tennessee. I really am more worried about the Run D than the Passing D. As far as the offense, we have to establish the run game and stay balanced. I read somewhere that we are 12-2 under Gase when we gain over 100 on the ground. That needs to happen this week.

Jets had a great showing last night and even if they were a bunch of puddin pops, history has shown repeatedly that when the Jets and Phins play you throw the records and what you think you know out the window. None of it matters. Continually in this series the "better" team does not always win. There's more to this one than X's and O's. Always has been.

Side note, I'm thrilled for Todd Bowles. Great showing last night. That guy is a class act.

After Darnold's first pass he definitely settled down and didn't crap the bed, but I didn't see some juggernaut out there. He may end up being a great QB, but I wasn't necessarily impressed with him last night.

He's a good guy but man he makes some dumb decisions.

I thought kneeling on the ball 4 times from inside the 10 and handing the ball back to the Lions was a very classy move. BB would have tried to score .

If the Patriots have a game in hand, Belichick will run a lot of erroneous and purposefully flawed plays to throw off the oppositions film study and to mess with analytics.

I actually think that's low. I think Vegas wants jets money to come in. Before the season started we were ranked in the high twenties. So were the jets. 3 points is standard home field advantage. But the Jets just looked like gangbusters on nationally televised game whereas only a handful of die-hard dolphins and titans fans watched our game. The casual bettor is only going to remember seeing the Jets destroy the LIONS and will be more than happy to give only three points. This is a trap game. The line should be 4 1/2 or 5. Vegas is telling you the dolphins win this game

Local Detroit shows are all talking about how they suspect Patricia lost the team already, back in preseason, and they are mailing it in. Apparently he came in with the tough guy, hard nosed, run em till they drop and hit em hard as often as possible approach and the players pretty much aren't having it. Combined with a big defensive switch to a scheme they don't have players for, a bad offseason personnel wise, and a superbly predicatable retained OC and it was a disaster.

All that to say, the Jets probably got away with playing a low talent team with even less motivation and desire, with their (Jet's) strengths (running game, defensive line) matching up well against weak Lion units. A unicorn game. It's a game that, frankly, Miami should win if we play our game and limit mistakes and big plays, but if we pretend it's the bottom of the barrel Jets rolling up, we can get spanked just as easily.
