Only saw the first half of the TNF game last night but I was surprised with the conviction and speed on Mayfield'd throws when he came on. Even if at times it felt like he held onto the ball too long, he would turn launch that ball like a rocket and made some impressive passes. A lot of people are going to be saying a lot of things about Mayfield but all I know is I'm going to be paying attention to see if this kid really is special.
I would love nothing more fore him to be the Real Deal, and Darnold to be Sanchez 2.0. My brother is a Jet fan, and he kept thinking he was the 2nd coming of Namath
He made some very impressive throws and you can tell he is very gifted/different than most when it comes to how he sees the field. Still just his first game though, i want to see how he is after a handful of bad games. Because in the NFL you will have a bad game. He rarely if ever had a bad game as a college athlete. So when that day comes it will be very humbling and we will learn more about him.
I agree. That is really my only question about Baker as a player. How will he respond to failure. He got his *** kicked the 2nd half against Georgia. You could see him press because of it. Not worried about him giving up, hes too much of a competitor. I am worried about him trying to put the world on his back when things go bad. Could spell trouble in the NFL trying to make a bunch of hero throws.
First QB in NFL history to march his team back from 14 pts in his pro debut! Let's also consider the fact that it was a short week and he got literally no reps. Then there was the weight of the Browns having not won a single game in over 600 days. This kid is ready and has been ready. Anyone with a set of eyeballs can see his pocket awareness is leagues beyond normal rookies. He's also not stupid with the football like his counterpart last night Durrrnold the INT machine. Notice how the entire Browns offense changed with him in there, both because of how he sees the field and how the players respond to him. God I wish we had been able to draft Mayfield.
