Carr has consistently dinked and dunked on short routes while struggling to drive the football down the field. With just one touchdown pass and three interceptions through two starts, the Raiders have to be a little concerned. It would certainly help take some pressure off of Carr if Oakland could get its ground game going. The Raiders have been held to a combined 187 rushing yards through two games. Look for Marshawn Lynch to get a heavy workload as Oakland attempts to get its season back on track. The Raiders defence has started games well only to fade big time in the second half. Part of that is on the offence’s ability to control the time of possession. Part of that is on the defence needing to be better. Oakland will need to be better in both areas in order to have a shot on the road this Sunday. Miami Dolphins Miami relied heavily on winning the turnover battle to squeeze out a 20-12 win over the Jets last week. New York outgained the Dolphins 362-257 in total yards but Miami survived thanks in large part to three forced turnovers. Despite the total offence statistics from last week, the Dolphins have a number of positives to carry over in to Week 3. Quarterback Ryan Tannehill is healthy and has completed 72.5% of his pass attempts for 398 yards and four scores. Running backs Kenyan Drake and Frank Gore have each averaged at least 4.0 yards per carry while rushing for 187 yards and a touchdown. Finally, the Miami defence has stood tall and made some key plays at critical periods to clinch a pair of wins. As long as they don’t turn the ball over, the Dolphins should have an excellent opportunity to win this game and improve to 3-0."
Raiders are apparently rolling with their previous LT at RT and he didn't do so well last week. Let's hope that continues! According to Oddshark the Raiders have allowed the 2nd most rushing yards in the NFL, so far, and the highest yards per carry. Again, keep it up boys! Then again, too early for a trap game?
How much did they pay Gruden again? The Raiders let Khalil Mack go. We should go through them like butter esp. At home.
I think we'll be looking ahead to new england. I like the raiders here. There blitz packages will probably give our offensive line problems. And we may have problems with their passing game
Derek Carr with time, transforms into one of the best QB's in the league. Derek Carr under pressure often looks like a bottom tier QB......quite simple. Get to him often.
These are the type of games the old Dolphin teams would lose, but I'm hoping this is a team that takes nothing for granted (and they shouldn't given how the offense has been uneven these first two games). Miami has most of the advantages here; being at home, a West Coast team coming to the East Coast, facing an average at best defense, and an offense with one real weapon (Cook at TE).
If we lose, i guarantee its not because we were looking ahead. Hell, looking how bad the Jets looked today, i am actually worried about this game. Raiders played well vs Rams in first half, and should have won the Denver game. This is not an easy win that people are predicting. This is a big test for us, and I think our team knows it
Jets were playing well and destroying Clveland until they hit Tyrod Taylor one time too many. They looked lost when Baker Mayfield came in, completely unprepared to deal with him.
Since 1990, the Dolphins own this series going 12-4. The Dolphins are undefeated against the Raiders dating back to November 2008. Food for thought
Wow! I just now had the time to open up this thread and it’s loaded with some nice information. Can I just say thank you again Galant! I know we all are very appreciative of the hard work you put in to keep us informed.
I am a little concerned about Jones. I probably would hold him out. If he doesn’t play, how should we handle it since the Raiders will probably try and spread us out?
Let's hope you're right. I think Gase is going to go very vanilla this week in the game planning. All the bells and whistles will be saved for new england. I think he feels this is the year we take the division. The raiders defense may lack physical talent but they have a really good defensive coordinator who can cover it up through scheme.
I don’t, here’s why Prez. Last year at Buffalo was the final straw imo and reason for the purge, Gase made it knowsn how disappointed he was in the leaders. This game is totally representative of that game, we have some success and this is his chance to really prove he was right and that the makeup of this team is different..and we all know Gase loves to prove people wrong, I’m sure this week of practice he will be all up in his players arses..
Last year was the Raiders being overdue for a win. Now things are back to normal and we can expect Miami wins for the next decade.
I'm nervous about it myself...we always seem to struggle against weaker teams and its mind-boggling. So I think this will be a good test of who we are and what we're really about in 2018. It should be a blowout if the same defense from the last two weeks shows up.

Interesting stat, since 1980 teams that have started 3-0 have made the playoffs 73.9% of the time. Big Game today.
Yeah.. and it's about 53% if we start 2-1. HUGE difference. Have to win this game. https://www.thephins.com/threads/dolphins-vs-jesters-game-thread.93496/page-9#post-3089173
The Raiders are not a team to be taken lightly. Granted this is the first year back for Jon Gruden but "Chucky" has instilled a new attitude in this team. They almost pulled it out last week against an offensively struggling Broncos. Tannehill has to play much better today than he did last week and we need to be able to run the ball effectively, especially on 1st down. As was discussed earlier in another thread, if we miss the playoffs by a single game, THIS will be the game everyone looks back at as the game that decided our post season hopes. I've said before that you really can't judge a team until the 4th game. That being the case, this is the game where everything should be starting to fall into place for Miami. BY the end of this one, we'll know for sure whether or not we're on the way up, on the way down or just flat. We need to take advantage of the extreme heat in Miami and run the Raiders into the ground. Uptempo, hurry up offense and run run run the ball. Drake and Gore need to have at least 15 carries each, preferably 20. If we fall behind early, we can't panic and abandon the run. sadly Orlando is showing Jacksonville so I'll be missing this one.
Time to play well in a favorable environment. They showed some resilience and the ability to overcome adversity in what is historically a tough place for the Fins to play last week. This week...a team struggling, internal strife, West-coast team in 1pm kickoff...the heat, the pressure our D brings...
We should win today just by the match-ups....our D will eat Carr alive and they can't stop our running game. On paper we have every advantage, which is exactly why I'm so nervous. I think this is the best Fins team we've had in decades and that makes me sweat over every game a lot more than usual. I guess I'm holding them to a higher standard and i don't want the bubble to burst?
