If we beat Cinci that's a 4-1 start and a 77% chance of making the playoffs. I mean.. at that point I think it's justified to NOT care so much about optics (how the team plays) and just accept this is likely a playoff team. lol.. on the other hand, if we don't make the playoffs after a 4-1 start, man the floodgates of criticism should open.

I completely agree. I don't know if we beat Cinci or not...it's hard to look past this previous week. I do think what we see on the field this Sunday will tell us more about this 2018 team than anything though. If they can bounce back then it's a massive step in the right direction.

Yes - I think taken out of context our record of 3-1 with that loss being the Pats at home while not desirable, would be something we can live with. It wouldn't surprise any of us seeing this information.

The fact that the Pats have struggled and their record was 1-2 set expectations higher that we thought we might at minimum, make a good game out of it. That is what is so bad but when looking at the big picture of wins and losses, right now it is not so bad. If we go on a 6 game winning run and are 9-1 are we still going to be upset?

Ultimately if we do win lots of games and have the ability to get to the playoffs we need to eventually figure out the Pats.

When it comes to the offensive line, I feel you must start with the Center and build out from there. The center is the "QB" of the offensive line, hikes the ball and has to play like a combination Guard and Tackle.

Tannehill is 10-2 over his last 12 games. Numbers are fun.

In the past 4 years we've drafted 3 offensive lineman

    1. Isaac Asiata
    2. Laremy Tunsil
    3. Jamil Douglas

2 are turds and one is average
3 offensive line picks in 4 years(30 picks) let that sink in

    A 4th rounder and a 5th rounder and a first rounder

Makes me sick we don't draft MORE offensive lineman
but what the hell would we do if we drafted more
offensive lineman...Doesn't seem like we can develop anyone

Because you have the Cutler saga in there. Puka was pointing out that with Tannehill he's 10-2. And that's a much different point than your 19-17 stat, right?

Exactly. Until they address the Center and Guard position with quality players that are not north of 30, we will be dealing with same thing. Tannehill is good enough to win with and i still think we have plenty at the skill positions. But if the line cant do its job none of that matters.

I'm not worried about Tunsil, He's ok. But they have ignored the interior line for years. I had hopes that Asiata would develop but clearly that is not happening. I think their scouts have a hard time evaluating these positions because the guys they get are hot garbage. They are going to have to invest in these positions higher in the draft.

Ohhhhh.....so if a team is 3-13, in actuality, they are good. Even though Cam Cameron was 1-15, he really wasn't a bad coach. I get it now. Thanks for clarifying that.

This is why no one tried to have a discussion with you.

You trot his overall record... With all the crap that goes along with that, and then argue that he's a bad coach. Someone else points out that he's 10-2 with Tannehill, a quality starter at the very least, and you ignore that record in favor of a stat that supports your extremely biased position.

That is the problem in a nutshell.

I never said he was a bad coach. I said his record indicates that he's slightly above average. Yes, when judging a team or coach, you look at the overall record. You don't pick and choose which games to include or exclude. Why is this so hard for you to understand. Gase is a slightly above average coach, coaching a slightly above average (sometimes below average) team. So I guess by your rationale, a coach with a record that is two games over .500 is an excellent coach. Joe Philbin was under .500 but i guess that doesn't mean anything either. He was a good coach to I guess

No. I'm saying that simply looking at record isn't an accurate way of judging a coach. I mean, really, with the trainwreck of a season last season, I don't think looking at the overall record is fair.

I think it's fair to look at the slow starts to seasons, the slow starts in pretty much every game, and getting blown out routinely in prime time type games, and judge Gase based on that.

That's exactly what it's looking like we need to do barring a massive turnaround that's looking more and more unlikely. Gase looks like he doesn't have a clue how to build a good offense, and we seem to have wasted years not drafting a QB high.

No, i understand the point that you're trying to make. Its wrong but i understand it. How else in the world of professional sports do you judge or rate a coach if not by his record? Not by his record with this guy or that guy playing, or his record on days when its sunny or when he's wearing a blue shirt. You judge him on his record period. Gase is average at best. When he gets fired, you'll probably be one of the first to say that he was a bum. That's how a lot of you guys roll on this forum. I'm sure you liked Philbin to, until he got fired and now you think he sucked. This team isn't going anywhere with Gase as the coach. And why would i want to troll a dolphins board? If i was gonna troll, I'd do it to a good team that is relevant.

Nope you'd do it here, just like you are, hopping into various threads and making comments designed only to instigate.

I wasn't a Philbin fan...but I am generally a fan of giving a coach like 3 years. There's only so much a new coach can do in his first year or two, so yeah.

But please, continue to generalize and assume things about people.

You mean just like how you generalized and assumed I was a troll? Hopping into various threads to give my opinion? Isn't that what messsge boards are designed for? I didn't realize I had to stick to one topic. Maybe ill check with you next time and see if it's ok if I comment on something. One question. Why is it people like you always call people who actually call out this team, when they deserved to be called out, trolls?

Please let me know the appropriate time to make a negative comment about qb, if not after he had a horrible game yet again. Ill check with you next time to see if its ok. I come here to state my opinion. Just like you.

The common denominator is the mental midget unaware lost qb. Never seen an nfl qb so incredibly lacking any kind of awareness. Souktjons? Draft a qb. Don’t go into gear 8 and find a new excuse

Honestly, I thought the offense looked good in the first half. Drake dropped a TD on a screen, Stills got held to save a 2nd TD, and the line was blowing open holes for Gore. About the only play call I hated was when we ran on 2nd and 10...we have to stop doing that dumb crap. Otherwise though, I thought it was a pretty solid half with a couple costly player errors.

Thill is probably not the solution, but I still think the line us the biggest problem. We are going to have to replace but nit till the line is a dam site better than it is. It doesnt make sense to me.

Well I think a bunch of us disagree because you want to fix the single most influential position first. You do realize there are many teams that have decent OL without spending anywhere near the number of top round picks we have spent. I'd fix the OL by finding the right OL coach and spending mid round picks on the OL. Top pick has to fix the most important single position (as opposed to unit).

They have tried drafting later round guys and you should be able to find someone that can play, i think theyve done a very credible job finding later round guys, except interior olinemen. For whatever reason, scouting or coaching they cant seem to come up with a fix and its been consistently the biggest problem on the team. Now if you can find a franchise qb in next years draft lets hear it, I havent seen one yet and if you are going to draft one just to say you did thats worse than where we are now. It also doesnt help that they havent even drafted many outside of the tackles.

You can't predict who is going to turn into a great franchise QB. Luck was as fantastic a prospect as there was, and RG3 was similar, yet it was Russell Wilson that turned out to be the great one. And how many got Mahomes right, or Goff.. though admittedly it's early.

So yes you have to gamble just to say you tried. And you keep trying every few years after evaluating the guy you gambled on until you find that great QB. Had we done that in the time we haven't had a competent OL (~15 years) we would've found our guy by now.
