How many of us said before the season, that the defense will be not good especially the Cornerback position, they are playing lights out,im really impressed how good they perform major kudos to burke i love that defense much better than last year how about vinny Taylor and our man Kiko.. And the X factor Xavier Howard, X gonna give it to ya.
Trubisky and Nagy put a dent in their rankings.believe trubisky posted a 130 passer rating or something like that
Reshad is the key to the secondary. He is really good in coverage and great in run support. He is not quite Troy Polamalu but he is in that mold. When he is not on the field you know it. Doesn't get near the recognition that he deserves. And yeah CB2 is killing us. Bobby McCain has done a great job there and Fitzpatrick is working out well on the boundary but behind them its not pretty. I still don't understand what's happened to Tankersly? He played pretty well there last year and now cant hardly make the game day roster let alone get on the field.
The problem is how long can Jones continue without further injury to that shoulder? We need another solid CB for depth so Minkah could be moved over to Safety as needed. A trade for a Nickel CB that included Parker and a fourth rounder is the dream scenario for me.
With the move to a significantly more pass orientated offenses in the NFL, shaking loose a quality DB is going to be difficult.
I agree on all points but we'd be lucky to get a half a bag of stale peanuts for Parker let alone how difficult it would be to land a corner through a trade.
I'm laughing at all the pundits who thought losing Suh was going to cripple the defense. Reshad Jones is an all-pro safety, the quarterback of the defense, and a wildly underrated player across the league. Xavien Howard is quickly blossoming into a shutdown corner. Too early to start calling his side of the field 'X Island'? Kiko Alonso, for all his past inconsistencies, is playing like a madman this year. He brings a soul to the defense. Jerome Baker is showing tons of potential already--you can tell he's a rookie, but he might wind up being our *second* best player from the '18 class. Which brings me to the best of our '18 class, Minkah Fitzpatrick. He's made some mistakes early on, but every week he's improving. He's going to be a very good DB for a very long time. Davon Godchaux and Vincent Taylor have done a good job masking the loss of Suh, similar to how Amendola and Wilson are making up for Landry's production on offense. Robert Quinn is providing consistent pressure on the edge. Nothing elite, but he's been good. And Cameron Wake is the glue that holds it all together. He may not be the machine he was a few years ago, but like Quinn, he's consistent, and even more importantly, his work ethic/locker room presence is huge for this young defense. I'd say these guys are cornerstones of the D, and we have several role players who do quite well under the radar. Bobby McCain, Torry McTyer, T.J. McDonald, and Andre Branch come to mind. And if Charles Harris and Raekwon McMillan ever reach their potential... oh, boy. I've never been this excited about a Miami defense.
