Zo is my favorite Heat player by far. Only Wade brings the same intensity to the floor.

Thank god Wade is looking like a fricken BEAST!

Zo is the "Mascot" of the Heat. Its awesome having him back in a Heat uni. I was crushed when he left, but things happen. What he's been able to come back from is just amazing. I have nothing but respect for him, and admiration. Good thing I'm not a nets fan....

Edit: I will never forget his first home game back in a heat uni. The crowd giving him a standing O, and just the atmosphere...man I wish I could have been there.

Didn't he airball his first freethrow back too?

Here's a vid of Zo dominating the Finals... quality sucks but I still remember him swatting shots left and right.

Zo is one of the best shot blockers of all time. Him and Mutumbo should be up there in the top 5, imo.

Zo is one of my all-time favorite sports figures. I can only think of a few guys in my lifetime who gave it all on every play. Zach Thomas, JT and Mike Piazza come to mind, as does Dennis Rodman.

I would say soul, not mascot. He doesn't wear a gimmick Disney suit.

Zo is the soul, Wade is the heart. Still trying to figure out what Glen Rice is.

I meant Mascot in the sense that he symbolizes what we are as a franchise and what we have accomplished. I would say Rice was the first real star player we had on the team.

    Heat Looking At Magloire

With the needed help at the Center position, the Miami Heat have brought in former Net Jamaal Magloire. Magloire has averaged 8.6 points per game in his career.

Heats Wade Hungry After Being Written Off

Heat Guard Dwyane Wade can't understand why people wrote him off after he suffered numerous injuries last year. Wade was quoted as saying "being injured, it was like I had forgotten how to play basketball. But it made me hungry. And it put me back in the position where I’ve always been. And that’s the underdog."

We're also exploring the possibility of trading for Kyle Lowry according to the Miami Herald.

Message board rumors include Udonis Haslem & Dorell Wright for Darko Milicic & Lowry.

Interesting. You don't want none of Darko. I know this guy personally. He's very lazy and doesn't give full effort. He just plays good in his contract year so he can get a raise like he got from Memphis.

Darko's European, and he's a typical Euro player. He's not physical at all. I have no use for a big man that doesnt protect the paint, personally.

Id take Magloire, just for a body. He's not that bad of a player. As for Darko, take him in a contract year and that's it lol. He's not going to do anything if it isn't his last year of a deal.

Heat, Dorell Wright agree to 2-year deal:

    LINK

Good stuff. Gives him another couple of years to prove himself, most likely without Shawn Marion next year (2009-2010 is probably his best shot behind James Jones as the #1 swing off the bench). If he doesn't prove worthy, oh well, another contract off the books in 2010. If he proves himself, then we'll see from there. However, I prefer a 2-year deal over the 1-year tender. Really do.

I expect one of the centers mentioned below to be signed to the minimum:

    1 - Banks / Chalmers / Quinn
    2 - Wade / Cook / Diarrhea
    3 - Marion / Jones / Wright
    4 - Beasley / Haslem / Lasme
    5 - Blount / (above quote) / Anthony

Mourning added in mid-season if / when healthy.

    Heat Lose A Big Man

The Miami Heat have lost Center Earl Barron to Fortitudo Bologna of Italian Serie A. Barron went overseas because of the money. The loss is a big one because of the lack of depth the Heat have at the Center position.

    Chalmers To Start?

When Heat superstar Dwyane Wade was asked about the Point Guard situation down south, he said "I really believe in our point guard, Mario Chalmers. I think he can be great for us and surprise a lot of people." Some believe that the Heat will have Chalmers as the starting PG opening-night.

I won't watch the Heat next year if the cap space is blown on Carlos Boozer.

Hurrah. The sooner we can Boozer up, the better.

Though Chris Bosh would be a nice consolation prize.

Defensively he's Tyson Gay when it matters the most. :escape:

IMO, Boozer is one of the most overrated players in the NBA. We're not winning a title with that front court, anyway. If Boozer is our PF, then we need a defensive minded C. Won't have the cap space to take care of both. I'd honestly rather signing a player to $5-8 million per and saving the big bucks for 2010.

Give me Jeff Foster for $4-5 million and I'm good waiting it out another year.

It strikes me that a defensive center would be a lot easier to find/develop than an offensive center. I think we could just pick one up in next year's draft without any issue.

Are you a Bosh guy? Or do you want someone else?

Don't blame you, but I doubt very much we land one, let alone both. I'd love to have both of those guys, we instantly become a championship team with them. But I don't know how we could get both.

King is the biggest Beasley fan on the boards. If he advocates Amare/Bosh even with Beasley, that says a lot.

Amare and Bosh can both opt out in 2010. That's the big summer where Wade is a free agent, and Haslem/Blount (combined $15 million, give or take) comes off the books as well (a year after Marion's $17 million, mind you).

I was kind of joking about not watching the Heat if Boozer is acquired, though. I don't really have anything against Booz -- just question his "fit" with the core we've got. They'd win a ton of games, although winning a title, defensively, would be very tough.

I think Zo's done. He should've hung it up after winning the title, honestly.

Center should be priority #1 in the next offseason. Or maybe we can land a mid-season trade involving Marion for a center and some additional forward depth.

What would happen if all the great musical artists and filmmakers were sober? The Monkees would be the Beatles and the Godfather would've sucked, thats what! Just on this one element of society Id be ok with our sports/entertainers being above the law.

I don't smoke weed at all and have never tried it but I do agree with your statement. Let these players smoke marijuana off the court/field/pitch. Weed won't kill you. It may kill your players conditioning and if the coaches feel like the player is regressing because of that, they simply let him go. Randy Moss once said that he smokes "once a blue moon" and I think that's ok. Hey, it didn't stop him from putting up monster numbers every year (except the Raider years aka the dark ages). As long as they're not doing this every night and slacking in their profession, it doesn't bother me.

Regarding Chalmers and Arthur, look for a suspension. I'm not sure if it said that in the article but I'm thinking around four games could do it.

EDIT: Saw you said you were joking but I do still agree with it.

Let the law deal with it then if/when they get caught. Just because it's illegal that doesnt mean the NBA has to test for it. The players just have to be ready to accept the punishment from the state/team when they get busted.
