Boller might be out for the year. I think if this is the case Beck will be doing some packing pretty soon. Hopefully we can get at least a 4th rounder for him. I think Cam-cam might go much higher, but good thing for the Ravens it is probably not up to him.
I don't know. Didn't Beck elude to the fact that he wasn't coached well last season? He might have burnt his bridge with Cam. Maybe not though.
This is the closest thing I could find to what the OP is talking about: http://weblogs.baltimoresun.com/sports/ravens/blog/2008/08/ravens_exercise_caution_with_boller.html
Well if he doesnt attempt to pick up Beck it could be construed as an admission that he made a mistake IMO .
And I agree that is what will happen.. Cam will not go after Beck and thats a true sign that Beck isnt tha answer.. Cam needs a veteran I would imagine they would trade for Josh sooner than John Beck...
It's Ozzy Newsome's call, not Cam's so the real question is last year were the Raven's one of the teams interested in him.
PFT is reporting Boller may be done for the season due to a shoulder injury. http://www.profootballtalk.com/2008/08/27/bollers-season-in-jeopardy/
Newsome is a good personnel guy, hopefully Cam-cam can confuse him & sway him. I don't think Beck has ever burned a bridge in his entire life. I've read just about every interview he's done & I never got the impression that he bad mouthed Cam or that guy who was our QB coach. He's always exceedingly polite and respectfull.
It would make a ton more sense for the Ravens to go after McCown instead of Beck. If Boller's out they are in dire need of a vet, not another prospect that might or might not pan out. They already have two of those.
Flacco gets the nod. Plenty of veterans on the market. They will not trade for a guy, especially this close to cut down day.
Signing Beck would leave them nowhere. Flacco is a rookie. Beck and Smith only have 1 year. They need a true vet. Maybe Mac.
I think after Saturday's cuts that Ozzie will have far too many options for a backup/veteran QB and wouldn't even think about trading a pick for either McCown or Beck.
Or that they already have a young QB to develop. Not sure why people think Beck to Baltimore is a lock. Have you guys heard of Joe Flacco? Taken 18th overall? Second quarterback selected in this year's draft? QB of the future in Baltimore? They need a placeholder, not a second guy who needs to be developed.
To John Beck... if you are what you say you are....a superstar......then have no fear....Cam Camerons here......and he wants a show..ow.ooowww...
i heard on sirius nfl this afternoon boller needs surgery and will be done for the year. If so, it definately just became a chance for us to move beck and get a pick in return. Cam is there, he drafted him and liked him alot, so it makes sense. It could happen. Best of luck to John Beck if it does!
PFT mentions Beck to Ravens rumor Obviously this is Becks most likely destination if traded since Cam is so high on him. PFT mentions that the Ravens are sniffing around. Ravens eye Dolphins QB Beck The Ravens have also conducted exploratory calls regarding Miami Dolphins quarterback John Beck, a former Cameron second-round pick last year who may become available via trade or the waiver wire. -- Carroll County Times
I don't think there will be a trade prior to the 53 man roster date...Tunaland can hold onto him until after then and possibly trade him then...too bad...Cam really destroyed this guys career...
Because the Ravens could be down to one healthy quarterback again, they are expected to sign a lower-tier quarterback as an emergency option. A league source said Casey Bramlet, who was recently released by the San Diego Chargers, is likely to join the team today.
Beck vs. Bramlet ... Funny that someone has edited Wiki to include the ravens already: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casey_Bramlet
You guys forget that Cam doesn't make the calls in Baltimore...Ozzy does..and Ozzy is shy about QBs since the Boller mistake...don't bet on Beck going there and don't think that if he doesn't go there, that Cam thinks he made a mistake on the kid...
I'm not defending Cameron but IMO (prepare tomatoes for launch), Beck never had it. I'm only going off of what I saw from him in preseason last year and what I'm seeing from Henne this year. Henne, as a much younger rookie, looks so much more comfortable and steady in the pocket that compared to Beck's happy feet, either Henne is the best thing to come along since the fermentation of barley or Beck just never had it. Beck has got the arm, the smarts, and the work ethic. Accustomed to being the big fish in a Brigham creek, he was swallowed up by the ocean that is the NFL. Cam Cameron just tied an anchor to his ankle and made the plunge a deeper one. As talented as Beck is, I think that pressure gets to him under center, he loses focus along with footballs and everything else. I don't expect any team in the NFL to trade for John Beck. A proven reigns holder like Josh could be interesting though- a vet who can keep a team in the mix until the starter is healthy. I'd like to go into the season with all 4 QBs, hope to trade Josh once tragedy strikes some unfortunate team, and watch Beck stick around long enough to justify that #2.
Crazy if Boller goes down for the year and I don't think Cam would try to strike a deal for Beck with Troy Smith and Joe Flacco in house. I realize Smith is dinged up, but he'll be back relatively soon. They can sign anyone to be the #3.
Looks like they're waiting for JB to be released. "The Baltimore Ravens pulled in QB Casey Bramlet last night (in a story broken first here, and then here), but the ex-Chargers quarterback may not be the last acquisition they make. Scout.com's Chris Steuber is reporting that Ravens offensive coordinator Cam Cameron would push hard for John Beck to come to Baltimore should the Dolphins release the Brigham Young quarterback. Cameron, of course, was Beck's head coach in Miami before being moved aside for the Parcells/Sparano team..." http://hsarizona.scout.com/a.z?s=222&p=9&c=2&cid=784176&nid=3642667&fhn=1
If he admitted this, Cam just made it harder for Beck to be released ... if he was going to be released at all.
Your entitled to your opinion and you arguments are somewhat valid, but the fact is that Cam didn't prepare him to be able to start. Didn't do the things to get him ready to go...(you know, the things we see Sparano doing with Henne)..Thru him in with a depleted talent pool (a lot due to injuries) and then didn't support him when things didn't go well for Beck...whether or not he has 'it' is unknown and probably because of the way he started out, will never be known...that I blame on Cam...again...JMHO...
then again maybe he saw how terrified he was of a pass rush and gave up on the kid (middle age man) as soon as he showed up. I expect rookie QBs to look bad but not as bad as Beck did. That was just a complete meltdown. I suspect Cam knew that was going to happen and that Beck wasnt ready for prime time. Blame Wayne if anybody. I bet he pressured Cam once the season was lost to start Beck
