12 passing plays this year, 1 TD, two fumbles (zero fumbles lost). He's essentially a wildcat QB. He's also rushed 28 times for around 100 yards.

At what point do you hold him accountable, 21 players hurt sure but this is his team and he has chosen to stick with Tannehill, Jawun James, devonte Parker, Ted Larsen and I'm sure there are some others we had on the roster proven to be injury prone. It's his team if it isn't his decision he should of put his foot down because now we got 21 hurt players and the one of the worst teams in the NFL.

GB can try and give it away all they want, but without NFL starting caliber talent on your OL or at QB at your disposal you aren't taking advantage of it no matter who is walking the sideline with a headset. You expect and hope your backup QB doesn't have to play. All you really expect though is he can come in, in a pinch and not **** it up. You don't expect to want him to start numerous games. He's a backup for a reason. I mean, you're not really making much sense here. Everyone knew Osweiler sucks. That's why he's a backup. I mean, there were several around here acting like he should be starting. Now look... we're having the discussion I told people we'd be having the longer BO plays. Chicago's meltdown and inability to tackle Wilson just fooled some. I get the frustration, it's bull**** where this team is right now, but... what do you really expect with the roster, and situation we're in due to multiple injuries.

I'll say it now, we won't see Tanny starting again this season. If he does, he'll be playing hurt and will struggle. Ross will give Gase a pass with all the injuries this season. Gase has to decide if he wants to depend on Tanny being healthy and playing well in 2019. Or tell Ross he needs a contract extension and the chance to draft a rookie QB to develop. Gase can do both by bringing Tanny back and drafting a QB by the way.

What if we end up 6-10 or worse? Will Ross give Gase a pass? I seriously wonder. Ross is patient but if we win at most 6 I have a feeling even he might bolt. Well we'll see. I do agree with 8-8 or so Ross will give Gase a pass.. but 6-10? Hmmm...

You hold him accountable every game- but you also have to be a realist in that .500 with a 2nd string QB and all 2nd string linemen is a damn good season.

I mean, let's say you fire him tomorrow. Boom- he's gone. Who do you bring in that can win with Oz or Fales behind 2nd string linemen in two weeks? That person doesn't exist unless they have some exotic run game that gets Gore/Drake going in space...with minimal blocking. Firing Gase today would do nothing but ensure that you're probably looking for yet another new coach in six months either way.

Hopefully Ross will find a tell on whether he plans on sticking with Tanny or cancelling the 7 year experiment and moving on. Tannehill is a mother****ing handcuff.

You could be right, and if that's the case then I'm onto Team Fales (or even Falk). This is the 4th week in a row where we've had the right play called, a WR wide freaking open deep, and Osweiler missing him completely. He missed two today for 14 points....that's the difference in the ballgame folks. I like Oz as a leader/competitor but he just doesn't have the arm. Fales does.

My point is this offence is based on a mobile qb.Why the **** do you bring in a guy with cement shoes?I said on another thread we will get blown out and I was right but the packers gave us every chance to win this game but the coach thought we could beat the packers kicking fgs.**** the fgs at least try to win the damm game. Most coaches coach from the same stupid book.If you are playing brees, rodgers, brady with a suspect defence go for the endzone or you have zero chance to win the game.If you are playing the jets then by all means kick the damm fg.

Gase will be the coach in 2019 because he will use the injury excuse to his advantage.

Our offense is not based around a mobile QB. Ryan Tannehill is very much not that unless it's by play design, more often than not he will stand there, not take off and run. They called a few plays for him depending on the opponent, but the majority of this offense is short, quick passing from the pocket. Its true though that BO isn't going to threaten you with his legs, so you cut out the read options, and rollouts, but it's not like we were centered around them, it is a big benefit with RT though.

FGs are essentially a result of our offense stalling, because our backup OL and QB are struggling. early on, you take the points when you're still in a close game. I'm not sure what's his fault there, you can only do so much with so little. BO stunk today. It's amazing we were still in the game given what we were working with. You should always take points early in a close game.

With all the **** that's happened as far as injuries I'm willing to give Gase some more rope. We have experimented longer with Tannehill. I hope Gase is smart enough to pick another QB this offseason, he wont have any longer than another half a full season to produce results.

Disagree! This offence works best when the QB can throw on designed rollouts. This guy can't move meaning the playbook is scaled back.
As for FGS against a great qb when you have below average DEF equals what we got today.I knew it and admitt it you knew it when we scored fgs we would lose.

Gase certainly has cover due to the massive amount of starters out with injuries, many for the season, or maybe Ross can use that as the reason to give Gase 2019 despite what I believe will be a 6-10 record on the season.

I don't see a good reason to keep starting Brock though (hard to argue that he "gives the team the best chance to win" after watching him play this year). Get Fales some experience so he'll be a better #2 QB. Even better, start Falk to see what he has, but I'm pretty sure he went on IR and can't come back this year. So we are back to Fales, but again the team can get some good out of starting him.

Even if Fales loses a game Brock might have won (anyone buying that scenario?) getting Miami into better position to draft a QB in 2019 is not a bad thing. So, to recap: Get Fales some real game experience and draft a QB as the future starter. Gase can even gamble on Tanny coming back in 2019 and see how things go with that if he wants.

Gase seems like he's too full of himself to admit he made a mistake thinking Tannehill is the answer so I wouldn't bet on him picking another QB this offseason. And if it really is another "half season" that Ross gives him then he'll join Sparano and Philbin being mediocre after 3 years and fired in year 4. Predictable eh?

I still think we're a 10-6 team with Tannehill and a 7-9 team with Brock (given we get our line back...which is probable after the bye). So if RT is really out of the picture for the year, I don't see much difference between 5-11 and 7-9 at this point. So why not let Fales throw bombs? He's looked great three pre-seasons in a row and yes, I know he was playing against 3rd stringers who only had a month of camp under their belts.

We already know what we have with Brock and he's just not a fit for this offense given the injuries- speed is our only remaining weapon to keep defenses honest. I thought Brock played decent again today under the circumstances so this isn't a knock on him....we just can't win how we're playing and he will only get marginally better as the season goes on (with linemen returning, that is). With Fales, I think we can take some teams by surprise and put up some easy TD's, then lean on the run to close out ballgames.

At least that's a viable strategy for a win- we don't have that with Oz no matter how hard he tries.

Of course you won’t win with only field goals. Do you really think anyone is disputing that? Ever? No. What I’m saying is you’re making it seem like we played for a fg every drive. Nobody would do that. It’s a byproduct of a bad offender and qb. It’s directly tied to the injuries that have them in this spot.

The offence works that well with the mobile qb because that qb is/was a better player than this one. Hence the reasons he was the started and this one is a backup. Just because we call a few designed runs for the QB at times doesn’t make us a mobile qb type offence. The offence is largely the same with BO as it was Ryan. We’ve just dropped the few option plays and rollouts.

Everyone knows you can’t win doing what we did today. All I’m saying is that it’s not like we were only kicking them on purpose. It’s just an offence that lacks a qb and entire OL unit. You shouldn’t have expected more than you saw today with that group on the field.

The D on the other hand... we should expect more.

Which is where the business aspect comes in. Ross may like Gase and Tannehill ... but surely he knows that if we finish the season at or below .500 returning both Gase and a mostly entrenched THill that nobody will really be excited.

I get the continuity argument that some people are making on this forum, and that we need to change culture and everything. At this point though, what is Gase selling that 'you' are buying?

LOL, must we re-live the fist pump era? We were an exciting, dynamic offense until we got in field goal range...then we ran it right up the middle to the kicker's favorite angle. I always liked Sparano but I swear he was playing for field goals.

I've said all year that I think 7 is the magic number for him to stay. Six wins and he's out the door, 7+ gets one more season. To go 6-10 we need to lose five of the last six. Is that possible? I actually think it is with the way the Bills played today.

In other words, Gase's job may come down to those two games in Buffalo.

We're at the point where we have so many that it's beyond the excuse zone. It's become a legitimate factual reason IMO. Think about this for a second.... we started today's game with 4 OL who are considered backups by our, and essentially NFL standards. With a backup QB who's clearly a backup in this league for a reason. We're also without our WR Wilson, who was the impact player of the offense. We lost Grant today too. That's essentially half your offensive unit. You just can't win, or produce consistently in this league facing that.

Yeah. What does this offensive unit, and that one have in common?

QB's that just couldnt execute in the redzone. QB play is important, we all know that, but it's even more important in the red zone. We don't have one that excels when things get tighter. The Sparano teams were very much the same. philbin's too IIRC. The common denominator here IMO is QB play.

Is your opinion that you think Gase prefers our offense to play for, and kick FG's, rather than score touchdowns?

Or are we talking about the offense being designed for a running QB? This offense is similar to what Gase has always done. Peyton wasn't very mobile, was he? Neither was Brock then, and IIRC Gase/Brock were together in Denver in Brocks time starting. This offense is more about quick throws, let the speedy shifty guys make plays. With RT there were just a few sprinkled in designed runs and rollouts to take advantage of that extra piece of his average game.

Off topic but just tust looking at whats left with 7 more weeks of the NFL regular season... there are a lot of bad teams this season... like really bad... this might be the worst season of football we hve had in years.. i dont think theres a clear favorite to win the super bowl, its been all around bad display of football this season..

Saints are playing like SB winners, and Rams are right behind them. I agree.. lots of bad teams, but those two are playing really well, even if both are offense heavy. Personally, I wouldn't mind either of them winning it all (especially since our perfect season is safe!)

I mean I think a handful of teams have separated, but yeah there are multiple really really really bad teams this year. It's one of the reasons I haven't been impressed with our record and felt even a playoff berth would be very deceptive. It's also likely going to result in a middling draft pick, even if we bottom out.

That's because the NFL continuously neuters any defensive leverage by giving away first downs on flaky penalties. Flick the QB on the helmet and you've already given up 15 yards.

My feeling right now is to give Fales a shot. Dammit I do not like that name. We are not in the playoff picture at this moment. Naysayers don't kid yourselves. Brock looks awful. His throwing motion was bad coming out of college but I swear it looked worse today. Ok we have OL issues but you cannot keep taking sacks on critical downs. We need a QB. I do not think RT will be on this team next year. Gase has to roll the dice here. Play to win!

There are injuries, and then there are injuries. It's two years in a row that we haven't had our starting QB for the majority of the season. Not saying RT is the end all be all, but when healthy there is no doubt in my mind that he is better than Brock. Since it all starts and ends with the QB with the Dolphins, I think it is fair to give Gase a break these last two years. That said, we may never know what he can really do when he has a legit franchise QB because we don't have one. I still say stick with Gase and lets see what we can do if we can get a legit QB in the next year or two.
