The odds of Harbaugh being back in Baltimore in 2019 are quite bleak, according to several sources close to the situation, with next year set to be the final year of his contract. There will not be another one-year extension forthcoming, I'm told (Harbaugh agreed to such a deal prior to last season to avoid a looming "lame duck" season), and with rising general manager Eric DeCosta set to take over for Ozzie Newsome after the season, and the Ravens facing a possible roster overhaul, there is a strong sense that these sides will be moving on amicably.

It makes a lot of sense given the ties with Ross and Jim.

For the record, I'm okay with Gase staying on as the Qb's coach. :chuckle:

Definitely a dude who needs a new scene, but a damn good coach - hopefully he is divorcing Flacco though, dont need a package deal on that.

Fire Gase, hire Harbaugh with a long term contract so he can trade our 2019 1st rounder away to ensure we can pick at the top in the 2020 draft (regardless of record) to get a franchise QB, time that with the eventual retirement of Belichick and Brady, and given the (now more likely) flops at QB that the Jets and Bills have, I think we can take over the division.

Or just fire Gase and hire Harbaugh (short version). I'd take that too.

I was just going to say, "Package deal." as I doubt he'd be comfortable with Tanny as his starter. A year of Flacco and draft a QB maybe?

I doubt Gase is going anywhere, but I'd gladly bring John Harbaugh in here in a heartbeat.

Do whatever it takes to land him. Seriously. This is Andy Reid becoming available all over again. Harbaugh will have plenty of suitors so we have to make Miami as appealing as possible.

I would send a gold plated chariot drawn by the pegasus accompanied by a dozen assorted nymphs to get Ozzie Newsome down here. Harbaugh is just another coach that Newsome made look good.

I don't think he's a bad coach but I do think he benefited from Ozzie Newsome's drafts, But would I take him over Gase now that is a totally different question.

I would absolutely LOVE to see John Harbaugh hired as HC for Miami Dolphins. So, for that reason alone it won't happen.

    Sorry guys...

Not disagreeing with your assessment as I would love Newsome, too, but I wonder where the Ravens get their tenacity from? I like that they play tough. Do they get that from Harbaugh or is it a culture thing left over from the days of Ray Lewis and the like?

HAHAH.Took the words out of my mouth.Whatever choice ross makes it will be the wrong one.
I really wish he would sell the team because he has no clue how to run one.

What successful coach hasn't benefited from good drafts and team building from the FO? They all do. The coach cant be successful without the players, and the lockerroom constantly being stocked and re-stocked, and the players need the coach as well. It works both ways.

If we expect Harbaugh (or any coach, including Gase) to have success with the garbage our FO has done over the past so many years, you're not going to find it.

I read it was from the player “blueprints” he developed with Bill Belichek when they were both with the original Cleveland Browns, before they became the Ravens. They developed physical and mental standards they required for all positions.

We need to start a list of the hidden gems the Dolphins have found recently. I think in the mid to late rounds we do OK with WR, and DTs, but other than that I can't think of a position group were we have hit pay dirt. Can you?

Well, that makes a lot of sense IMO. And, I think it's a blueprint the Dolphins should be following!

First starts with Newsone sticking to his beliefs on makeup of a player, and then Harbaugh instilling the tone and accentuating the physical aspect of the game
