    i personally want drew lock.
Trade parker, tannehill, and our number one pick to get up high enough in the draft. If needed.
I would love to hear other ideas?
    Maybe free agent comes open?
Maybe there is a sleeper qb in the draft someone loves?
Maybe someone still has faith in tannehill?
Tannehill has all the physical tools. Just not a fast enough decision maker. Imo.

There are likely no long term answers in 2019. Its a really bad qb draft. Maybe as bad as 2013. And any veterans who are available are likely to be short term band aids.

If gase is back, then my preference is to roll with RT for another year, given that cutting him and signing another veteran would be more expensive.

Andy Reid wouldn't make this trade for a game-worn Mahomes jersey, let alone Pat himself.

i read the giants will take drew lock with the 5th pick. Pure speculation at this point.
But lock is a top ten pick? Isnt he?

Yeah...I don't necessarily agree with all the projections...but three QBs should be off the board quick: Haskins, Lock, and Herbert.

Grier could be a guy even if he seems more like a college qb. Someone always takes a chance on the guy with guady numbers in a defenseless conference.

Also Finley and Jones. I’d like Finley or jones in the 3rd if possible but none of these guys are top ten pick material IMO. Didn’t even love the class last year but much better than the 2019 crop.

If Gase remain there is no way he goes with anyone but Tannehill. He will be on the hot seat and rookie QB probably won’t win him an extension.

I dont understand why Tannehill and drafting a QB are discussed as mutually exclusive. The Dolphins can keep Tannehill and still draft a QB high if the FO had conviction for one.

Nobody wants Tannehill. You trade for him you’re trading for that contract, he’s due $51 million the next two years.

I think Herbert will come out once he realizes he’s a lock to be the 1st QB taken, you wanna move up high enough to get him, you need the Dolphins to lose out, the higher they pick the less they have to give up to move up. Teams with the #1 pick don’t want to move down too far if they agree to a deal. We lose out good chance we’re picking 5 or 6.

If he comes out, I would like Tua Tagovailoa. He seems like a leader on the field and he is pretty accurate. He also has the ability to extend plays with his feet. The downside is he is 6'1. However, he is 212 lbs., so he is built pretty solid.

Still not worth it, also wtf would Kansas City even glance at that trade lol?

Let’s trade Tom Brady 2 years in for Jay Fiedler, a seventh round pick and Kareem abdul Jabari

I think that last year, Lock would have been a late first round, or even a second round pick. Probably the 5th best one in the draft, a step above Mason Rudolph. I don't like a lot of what I've seen from him.

I'm a WVU fan and have seen nearly every game that Grier has played. He's not an elite prospect, and he'll be 24 as a rookie. Limited skills and upside. Best case, he develops into a mid tier starter in a few years. His peak is several steps below Tannehill's.

No, he's not due $51 mil over the next 2 years...

And a few teams would love to have RT as long as he's healthy. I'm not sure what they'd give for him, but if the Dolphins tried to trade him they would find suitors.

Exactly. Were he to be traded, RT would have a contract of 18.725m in 2019 and 19.497m in 2020, with zero dead money for the new team. Which would make him the 21st highest paid QB in the league next year (pending others being cut also), and the lowest paid starter of anyone not on a rookie contract.

If he's healthy, then there are certainly teams that would trade something for him as a short term fix to their problems, with the hope that he could be more.

barring any teams injury, maybe only jax would in the off season!!!! this would be a really interesting market test though!!! i dont see anyone needing a 7th yr project qb with a high salary everyone either has 1 or has a guy younger. Washington might be another suitor but i see them going to the draft to replace smith!!!

Tua isn't draft eligible until 2020 iirc. Haskins can come out this year but with only one year as a starter he could be tougher to project. The Michigan game turned heads though.

There is a lot of uncertainty and lack of top end prospects ar QB this year. I think we picked a bad week to quit sniffing glue.

Okay, guys here is a bit of real talk for you guys.

Cutting Tannehill does not seem to be a viable option. Essentially, we would be paying him $13 mil to not play football for us. Although we are paying Suh quite a bit to not play for us, we can't get in the habit of doing this. If we wind up drafting a QB, it appears that Tannehill would be our best option as a stop gap guy. I feel like Tannehill is comparable to most of the guys that would be available via free agency, and signing one of those guys might actually wind up being more expensive.

The only way that Tannehill is cut is if we were to acquire a veteran starter with a contract in place. Essentially, this would be the trade for Derek Carr scenario.

Trading Tannehill would be a viable option, but it really depends on whether a market for him blossoms. At this moment, it is anyone's guess. Bridgewater will be the first domino to fall. You will then have Tyrod Taylor, Fitzmagic, Josh McCown, and possibly Winston, Flacco, and Dalton as other free agents that would not cost draft compensation or could be obtained for reasonable draft compensation.

Honestly, if a team is planning on drafting a QB, and they need a QB for just a season or left, Fitzmagic and McCown would honestly be fine. Is it possible that a team like the Jags or Broncos could view Tannehill as a viable long term option, sure.

I just want to let you know that there is a pretty good chance that Tannehill will be on the team next year but not be the future.

This transitions us to the distinct possibility of drafting a rookie while keeping Tannehill. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but this rookie class is not great. I have not really gotten into my scouting yet, but as of this point, I don't see a guy that I would be willing to parlay a bunch of draft picks up to get. This naturally leads us to the question, "If there isn't a guy that you feel so passionately about that you would be willing to trade up for, should you even draft him in the first place?" In my mind, that is a fair point. Needless to say, I think we do wind up drafting a weaker early QB. With that concession in place, I think having an established veteran (Tannehill) in place would be prudent as this rookie might not be ready to start week one.

I agree, and that means we don't force it. Pick the best defensive player and/or trade down this year in the first, and do our best to stock up in the areas around the QB. Make the team better.

For what we are paying him, he better be.

If that were the case, there is always the chance that a team's starter could get hurt in season, and we could swing a deal at a later time. The Eagles got quite the premium for Sam Bradford a few years back.

So we get tannehill to take a paycut since he sucks. And draft a rookie.
I know i keep hearing there is no good qb to draft next year? I say bs.
Has there even been a year where a good qb didnt get drafted?

Yeah.. quite a few years. Here's a link to all QB's drafted:
    http://www.drafthistory.com/index.php/positions/qb

Check out 2013 or 2007 for example.

Still, the draft is a crapshoot and hard to determine beforehand which QB's will succeed and which won't so I'd still draft a QB high. Have to gamble a bit or you'll be waiting forever!

There's some good OL talent in this draft, and others too. I think RT17 remains the QB, we strengthen other areas and then we see about a QB for 2020.

Worse than that 2005 draft? That only had THREE* QBs taken in the first round and two of them late in the first? Why would teams even bother to take a QB in a bad draft class like that????

*Jason Campbell was the other QB taken after Alex Smith and Aaron Rodgers.

Not to be that guy, but if we're talking high, mid & low tiers then how could a player be below or above anyone else by several steps? (Only 3 tiers) But seriously, Tannehill has never, ever, eeeeeever been several steps above any legit qb starter.

One other thing, that I've suggested before: If you want a QB in the 2020 draft, trade away your 2019 first rounder for a 2020 first and change. Stock up, so you can make a trade up to the first or second pick.

well it is high for a non productive qb when you could have fitzmagic and do the same. i seriously doubt RT would have numbers as he does in miami if he didnt throw bubble screens all day and ran a real offense. But we wont know until it happens so im going with my opinion. there are qbs to do what he would do on their team for alot less than 15+ mill a yr price tag.
