    https://www.miamiherald.com/sports/spt-columns-blogs/armando-salguero/article223738365.html

The article is worth reading completely, but here's the 30 second version-

    - Ross wouldn't say a word to the media today. He acknowledged Gase but didn't speak to him. He left silent without saying anything to anyone.

    - Rex Ryan is calling assistant coaches, thinking he has a legit shot at Miami's head coach spot or the same position with the Hurricanes. Says he'd prefer the Fins.

    - Tannehill sounded a little worried after the game, saying he has no idea if he still has a job or not. Fittingly, he then said "I can't process that right now" ....much like he did in the pocket today.

    - The article stated the main problem was Ross being clueless and 100% unqualified to make any football decisions.

Would rather give Gase a ten year contract ala Gruden before I brought in Rex.

Rex Ryan isn’t going to be an assistant under Gase. You can take that to the bank.

Oh the offseason coaching speculation. If Gase is fired, which I have a feeling he will be, I'm on the fence with Ryan. Based on past experiences, head coaches with DEFENSIVE experience tend to be more successful in the NFL than offensive coaches. With that bein said, if Ryan is hired, he had better bring in an offensive GURU to run the offense as Ryan was a disaster in New York and Buffalo.

Although the Ryan defense can be snuffed out after a while, at least having a coach that places a value on defense and the importance of a strong defensive unit would indeed be a welcomed change.

I know this won’t be a popular sentiment but I would welcome Rex Ryan over Gase. The man can flat out coach defense, he just needs a very strong offensive coordinator.

If we want defense, I'd rather give Vic Fangio a try than Rex. Eberflus in Indy is a name to watch as well. He has that talent void of a unit performing very well, and has shown progress in developing his young players. I would pass hard on Jim Schwartz.

Do you actually have any statistics on the claim that defensive head coaches experience more success? Especially in the last, say, 5-10 years?

OK. I am NOT on board with Rex as HC. There is no doubt he can coach defense but he has no interest in Offense and I dont trust him to pick a strong OC. The guy I would love as OC regardless of HC is Dirk Koetter. He just got the axe in Tampa and is one hell of an OC!

Now the guy I would be all over for HC if he comes available is Marvin Lewis. He's done a respectable job in Cinci despite some really bad luck. That franchise was a bigger train wreck than we are before he took over.

He probably just wants to get his foot in the door for an interview. I personally wouldn't mind it's not like Gase was on the right foot.

Rex is way down on the list of coaches I'd like to see Miami bring in. He would be entertaining for a year or two, but flame out quickly.

    I like statements like this.

"Yes, I would be all in favor of that decision provided we solve that one thing that doesn't really have a solution at the moment"

Just saying "he just needs a very strong offensive coordinator" not only implies that Rex's defenses turn out to be so bad in the end that he needs an amazing coordinator to even it out, but it's also virtually impossible. There simply are no good offensive coordinators right now because for 4-5 years teams have been hiring those guys as head coaches.

Personally, I didn't like reading the article and it shows why players hate talking to media with agendas.

Ross empowers people to make the football decisions and he opens his wallet. Ross goes to games, draft, but stays out of influencing the sausage making.

The article complains that the owner doesn't want to get asked insensitive and impossible to answer personnel questions walking away from the stadium. The questions the media asked Gase or Tannehill aren't insightful and are rather disrespectful; they are piranhas trying to goad them into saying something stupid.

I'm disappointed in the result but questions on the game specifics can be done in a respectful way. Don't ask questions about "the future" to someone who has no control over that. That is an indirect way of asking if they are getting fired and would normally get you punched in the face if there were no cameras around.

Rex Ryan started Mark Sanchez as QB and completely stuffed 2 of the great recent NFL defences.

If Sanchez had just but common garden type of bad the Jets probably would have won the Superbowl. However Sanchez was something like 2 standard deviations worse than bad in those years. So bad that no team could overcome that degree of ineptitude.

The fact that Ryan thought Sanchez was a starting caliber QB for 4 years automatically excludes him from ever being considered HC material.

On top of that the only teams he has been successful with were the first 2 years with the Jets, and his overall coaching record is sub .500.

There is zero reason to think he will be a successful HC based on his record.

    100% agree.

Armando comes off a spoiled brat throughout the entire article, as if he's writing it specifically to insult Ross simply for not talking to the media after the game. It definitely comes off as a "media vs Ross" vibe which is ridiculously unprofessional. So, basically an average day for Armando.

Ross looks a bit like a buffoon, but I'm fine with any owner who tries to hire good people, opens his wallet and doesn't get involved. Anything beyond that and you get Robert Kraft or Jerry Jones, both of whom are unscrupulous scum.

Ross the scared little weasel... I bet he asks his yes men around him not to make any sudden moves. It startles the sensitive old fella.

We need a miracle much bigger than the Miami Miracle to overcome the debacle that is Stephen Loss. You would think an owner who knows nothing about football would hire advisers that do. And if they fail him, fire them and get new ones...

And no, Rex Ryan is now and will always be a friggin moron. I was at Strikeforce: Miami event in 2010, where he flipped us off. F that guy.

Offensive coaches who have won the Super Bowl include Pederson, Kubiak, McCarthy, Vermeil, Shannahan, Gruden, Holmgren, Switzer, Walsh, Gibbs, Flores, McCafferty and Ewbank. That's 13 head coaches

All other head coaches were defensive coordinators..with the exception of Hank Stram who coached both offense as well as defense.

The article reeks yet again of Armando being upset about not getting to "do his job" because nobody wants to talk to him. Kind of like the article he wrote about the OL club in the locker room. I get the point he was trying to make there, but it still came across as him crying foul that they wont talk to him. Guess what buddy, you burned those bridges by being a giant douche, and pot stirrer rather than a credible reporter.

I don't blame Ross for not talking. It's one of the #1 rules of top decision makers. You don't react emotionally, you don't say anything until you evaluate it, and remove emotion from the situation. Nothing good was going to come out of Ross speaking after the game. Nothing he said at that point was going to help him, or this team.

I've seen people complaining that he has no plan and that's why he didn't want to talk yet. Yeah, so? Maybe he hasn't decided yet, but who cares? I'd be much more concerned if he flew off the handle and fired everyone without a plan just because he's mad at the loss yesterday. Or if he gave an interview postgame talking about the uncertainty of everyones jobs. Then if someone stays in their current role, what does that really tell everyone moving forward? No confidence. Lame duck. etc. etc. You can't act that way as the decision maker in power. So, I'm going to say good for Ross in that instance.

Armando is just being a crybaby. Because he likes to write articles based on his emotions and feelings, rather than actually being a reporter and reporting facts, doesn't mean a thing. He's an idiot.

Same with Gase, people are mad he didn't have a plan for the offseason and next year when asked post game. Why the hell would he? These guys work week to week. One opponent at a time. One game plan at a time. Sure, the gameplan sucked the last few weeks, but that doesn't mean he should be spending his time thinking about the offseason and guys he doesn't have on his roster. It's a stupid question for a reporter to ask the head coach after the last game. Even if you get a legit answer, it'd simply be something to the effect of "get guys back healthy, get working on some new idea's, chemistry, etc. etc. etc."

Just got to let things play out here and hopefully the right decisions are made after some evaluation

Vic Fangio? Me too. I think he is proving he can get it done today's NFL. Whereas, I think Rexy's system might prove to be a little antiquated. There is nothing wrong with sticking with what you do best. If Rexy is good at anything, and this is subjective, then it would be DC. He should just stay in his wheel house. Same for Ross. I will be very disappointed if he brings in Rexy and will lose all the respect I have for him as our owner. He needs to bring in a football guy and let them take it from there.

On a side note: If Gase is fired, and the Browns hire him as HC it could mean Greg Williams is gone as interim HC/DC. I think we should explore his interest as either a DC or HC, too. The adjustment he made last night in the 2nd half against the Raven's strong rushing attack was a thing of beauty! I want coaches who understand what the heck is going on and can make adjustments during the game. Not someone who sticks with the game plan and rides it to the end win or lose.

To be fair, Rex Ryan is the only one saying he's interested in the job. No one from the Dolphins is expressing interesting in him according to this report anyway.

I think that with Rex, our defense would be better over night. We have a solid secondary. We may need to retool the entire front four. This would be an ideal time to switch to the 3-4.

Players like playing for him, and he will bring a certain level of toughness. I am positive that Drake would get his touches with him.

I have ZERO problems with interviewing him. The hard questions would be concerning the offense. I would want to know who he intends on bringing in as OC and how he plans on addressing the QB situation. The answers to those questions would mean a lot going forward.
