http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap30...-gase-to-interview-for-jets-head-coaching-job Adam Gase is going to interview for the head coaching job in New York. Gase would have a huge cap and a young stud QB to mold. He already knows the division and would be eager to stick it to Ross a few times a year! Hang on it may get crazy in the east!!
From everything ive seen of Adam gase, he doesnt have the killer instinct to stick anything to anyone. He is the Tannehill of head coaches. Good to hear he might end up on the Jets.
Hope they hire him. As long as he remains convinced it's always everyone else's fault when things don't work out he'll never make it as a HC. More worried about who we choose than where Gase goes.
If that happens, with our luck, he'll turn into the next Belichik just as Belichik retires and We'll be looking at another two decades of irrelevance. Maybe by Ross's 14th head coach We'll be able to compete
At least Belichick won 2 Super Bowls as a DC had a top 10 defense 5 of his 6 years with the Giants, had 2 top 10 defense's with the Browns, and 3 top 10 defense with the Jets. What has Gase done besides ride Manning's coattails? Outside of Manning's Bronco's Gase has never had a top 10 offense. I wouldn't worry too much about him becoming the next Belichick unless you mean in terms of being unfaithful to his wife.
Jets have even worse luck than we do. If Gase were going to Pittsburgh, a model franchise that's had only 3 coaches since 1970 and every one of them has won a SB that's another story, but the Jets?? ONE lucky SB win and they've never been to the big game since. Jets' bad luck outweighs any we have, so I hope Gase gets the job even if we're only considering who has more "luck" lol.
It's a very good point. We have to count on the Jets curse being stronger than ours. Up to now it certainly has. Let's hope it continues
Wait, WHAT? He's THAT KIND OF CHEATING BUSTURD TOO?!? I haven't heard that before. That is the very antithesis of integrity and respect. If thats for reals I just lost the modicum of respect I had for that...person.
As cbrad has pointed out the only thing that Gase brings to the table as a HC that’s above average is his ability to win close games. But if you’re putting up 6-10 numbers with your offense and defence that extra close game juice only gets you to 8-8 on average. I would be happy if the Jets take Gase. Sure they might break our hearts a bit more than usual but they won’t be going to the big games.
Food for thought...what could he do with Darnold? I'd almost prefer him to stay in the division if he's calling plays. https://nypost.com/2019/01/02/jets-add-ex-dolphins-coach-to-growing-pile-of-candidates/
Bowles was actually a pretty good DC and did real well for us on an interim basis. I really thought he was a good hire for the Jets and I'm honestly surprised he didn't work out there.
Just because you want that to be true doesn't make it true. Sticking your head in the sand is not a valid argument against the fact that it would be pretty bad to see our former head coach end up with a division rival that has a ton of opportunity to get better in a hurry.
You act as if those Giants defenses weren't loaded with talent. lol What BB did in NY is very similar to what Gase did in Denver. Albeit on different sides of the ball.
No I act like he's had success at his specialty on every single team he has coached on. Gase has had a top 10 offense with Peyton Manning and that's where it ends.
Yeah, BB's 36-44 record in Cleveland was PHENOMINAL! Unless you don't really want to talk about BB's "every single team"? lol.... Just stop...
Read again he had success at his SPECIALTY every where he's been, his specialty being defense. The Browns regardless of his 36-44 had two top 10 defense one of which was the #1 defense in the NFL. Gase has ONLY had success when he had the GOAT QB under center.
Same thing applies. Gase had Manning, but BB still had great players on those Brown's defenses. Pepper Johnson Carl Banks Eric Turner Antonio Langham Clay Matthews Mike Johnson To name a few Let's not pretend that Gase hasn't succeeded in his career. It didn't work out for him during his 1st HC stint. Neither did it for BB. However, Gase is one of the hottest HC's on the market. BB had to go back to being a DC for half a decade before he got another shot at it.
I'm not pretending Gase hasn't had success, I'm saying he hasn't had success at his Specialty outside of Manning which is a fact. 2015 Bear offense ranked #21 2016 Dolphin offense ranked #17 2017 Dolphin offense ranked #28 2018 Dolphin offense ranked #26 Unless your barometer for success is extremely low those are not good offenses. If I was going to hire an offensive minded coach these rankings wouldn't impress me. Hottest HC's on the market? A quick google search for hottest HC's on the market yielded no results for Gase being on that list.
Google search? lol The Packers, Cards, and Jets are slated to interview Gase less than 5 days after he was fired. He'll get more interviews if he doesn't get an offer and accept from one of these 3 teams.
Getting interviews makes him one of the hottest HC's on the market? Raise the bar a little man. We just interviewed DC Dennis Allen if he gets a couple more interviews is he also one the hottest coaches on the market?
Listening to Armando will make a person dumb. There was interest in Cleveland, Denver, AZ, NY, and GB for Gase as their HC. The Falcons also have Gase on their radar for their OC position. Once again, Gase is one of the hottest coaches on the market right now. Will he land a HC position? Who knows, but he's getting interviews and interest from a number of teams.
