I really think that the Rizzi debate is a non-debate. I had previously posted about things that we can learn from Gase. One of the biggest points that I made was considering a coach's ability to put together a staff. Through absolutely no fault of his own, Rizzi is embedded behind the 8 ball on this aspect. Since entering the NFL, Rizzi has only coached the Dolphins. Needless to say, based on their recent track record, it is fairly obvious that the words "competent" and "genius" are not exactly the best words used to describe his fellow coworkers. Ask yourself, "Who do you think that he would bring in as coordinators?" Bowles/Vance Joseph as - D-Coordinators, not too bad, but I think that this guys will probably have better options elsewhere. Also, now would be an idea time to switch the 3-4. I think going down the aforementioned road, would result in remaining in the 4-3. Then is he going to bring in Bill Lazor to run the offense. I really think that trying to rekindle the "magic" of yesteryear would not be in the team's best interests based on the results of yesteryear. Now contrarians may argue that he wouldn't have to hire these guys. Theoretically, this is true. But this isn't the type of job that you just put on Craigslist. You want guys that you have experience with and that you are sure that you can work with. Ever work with someone who is good at their job but is toxic as a person? How about someone who doesn't listen and tends to go rouge? What about people that crumble under pressure? Putting together a staff that you do not know on a personal level is a recipe for disaster. You really want a coach to bring in his guys that can contribute to building his vision on and off the field. Another thing that fans/former players love about him is his energy. I think that this is a great attribute, but I don't think that RT failed because he wasn't fired up. Getting your team to play hard is one thing, and I do not think that HCs necessarily need to be geniuses, but I do think that they need to be able to bring in geniuses in. Again, it does have to go down as a strike against Rizzi that he doesn't have expertise in offense or defense. I think his passion is really his greatest quality, but we simply cannot put all of our eggs into this basket. We are at a crossroads. We are going to be getting the QB of the future very soon. It would be irresponsible to let someone who has been around choose the direction of the franchise just because we like him. I loath the whole, "Give him a chance mentality." I really think that if some people had it their way, Darren Rizzi would be coaching Luke Falk, and he would be throwing the ball to Isiah Ford and Drew Morgan because, ya know, we gotta give these guys chances. Who knows? Maybe Darren Rizzi is Bill Walsh. Luke Falk is obviously Tom Brady (how did you not see that coming. And Morgan and Ford are the return of Duper and Clayton. The Miami Dolphins are not the United Way. We really don't need to give chances.
Mora w/Saints and Colts Capers with Panthers and Texans Billick John Harbaugh Jim Harbaugh Fox Nagy I think Flores has the background and experience to come in and create a very good culture and defense.
Fangio is too old and he has never been a HC before. Dont think it is the time to find out if he can be a good HC. Not all good coordinators make good head coaches. A good HC will be the guy who is the best at leading and motivating the players and commanding their respect, not necessarily the guy with the best offensive or defensive football mind. Being an offensive or defensive genius is what you want in your OC and DC, not necessarily what you need from your HC. Leadership and ability to manage and motivate different personalities is what is most important from a HC. Of all the candidates so far the guy with the best reputation as a leader and motivator is rizzi.
Not to say that you're flat out wrong, although most of the time you are, but right now the following teams have head coaches who either call plays or act as the offensive/defensive coordinator for their team: Rams Patriots Eagles Chiefs Texans Colts Bears Saints Combined record of said teams for 2018: 91-37 (0.71 win %). Just sayin'
But in most those cases the HC is also a good motivator and manager. I think the manager, organizer and motivator aspect of being a HC is much more important than offensive or defensive X and Os. Xs and Os are what what the OC and DC are for. And no, I am not usually wrong. Go back and look at my post histroy I am usually right in my arguments and even more as time passes. I was calling for gases *** last season I already knew he wasnt a good HC. It took most people here another ****show of a season to finally figure it out.
When you complain about every member of the team and/or front office for two straight years, you're bound to be vindicated at least 1% of the time. Complaining about everyone doesn't make you right, it just means you complain a lot.
I dont complain about everyone genius. You evee here me complain about Rizzi? Or wake? Or jones, drake, stills, grant, gore, tunsil, james, sitton, chase allen, traylor, howard, mccain, wilson, ballage or durham smythe? No because I think they are all good players. I only critisize those who I think are doing a very bad job and/or are overpaid or overrated. 90% of my critisicm has been against gase and tbaum and against some of our bad draft picks and overpaid veterans.
Yeah, let’s give him a shot, see what happens, if he sucks then we fire him. I bet he would take that challenge on a one year deal.
Hal HabibVerified account @gunnerhal 9h9 hours ago Next Dolphins coach odds from http://BetOnline.ag : Darren Rizzi 2/1, Vic Fangio 7/2, Brian Flores 4/1, Eric Bieniemy 6/1, Dan Campbell 6/1, John Harbaugh 9/1, Mike Munchak 13/2, Dan Marino 100/1.
Fingers crossed. Other than poaching Jim Harbaugh from michigan I think Rizzi is the best choice right now.
Probably not when you think about it. It will probably be mostly Phin fans taking that bet and they are probably aware of all the publicity he is getting from players plus local fan recognition. Easy way to get bets to come in imo. I doubt it has much if any basis in reality - Grier is not leaking his odds list I am sure.
For those like me who prefer to see it a different way ( I have never bet money and had to look up how to covert) I created a quick chart. I am a little surprised that Flores would be so high, and I thought we weren't interviewing Campbell. Also, what happened to Richard? Did he withdraw?
Rizzi had his interview yesterday according to this article. https://phinphanatic.com/2019/01/05/are-the-miami-dolphins-leaning-towards-an-internal-promotion/
I have no idea who that "reporter" is, but that's impossible unless he went on the plane with Ross and Grier when they went to interview Flores and Bieniemy. It's documented that that's where they were the last two days.
I hope all the guys that folks want can get in front of a room and speak and inspire.. cause if they can’t they’re toast, dont care how good they are at their scheme
Adam Beasley says it's set for Monday: https://www.miamiherald.com/sports/nfl/miami-dolphins/article223970285.html
