I get the same feeling as well. I can't recall a franchise level quarterback that ever came out of the world's greatest 2nd place college team. I may be wrong...that there has been. I just don't recall one.

My preference is for Murray, his size doesn't bother me. Another is Easton Stick from NDSU. I actually like either of those guys over Haskins.

I think he's 5'10. A little short by traditional standards but college linemen are just as tall as the pro's and he has no trouble dealing with them. The big question with him is will he choose football over baseball?

Easton Stick from NDSU is another really interesting guy. You can say he played inferior competition in college but it doesn't seem to have bothered Carson Wentz, same school. Stick just won his 2nd straight National Championship and his 49th out of 51 starts. Look up his highlights.

Only one season of starts and he thinks he's ready for the NFL? Maybe in the third round.

    That is silly thinking 101.

Remember when people used to use Penn State against drafting Barkley. How’d that work out.

    Jesus guy’s.

This will be a very sought after prospect, he is an honor student with a good work ethic and anticaptes already better than Ryan Tannehill ever did.

If you don’t want to sell the farm for him? I get it, but to dismiss him as prospect is DUMB.

I agree, my specific response of "no thanks" was in regards to picking him with our first round pick. If we were to trade back into the first round towards the late end of it or if he were to be available when we pick in the 2nd round, i'd be all for selecting him. Just not with our 13th pick.

I love Haskins as a prospect. The big area I think he struggles is with pressure. However, I think his football mind and anticipation for lanes are very good. He is the type of prospect I would see improve against pressure because of those two things. He is a player that I think would be best served sitting a year. But I think Haskins is legit. But the price to move up to 1 would be far too much. Can't do it.

Feels like Mark Sanchez 2.0, he is too raw IMO for the NFL. One more season would have been great for him.

Penn State has ALWAYS put out good running backs.

What I find silly is when a person points out history that it is considered silly. Like if I were to say drafting a Heisman Trophy winning QB and putting all your eggs in that basket is a dumb idea, most folks would think I had lost my mind. But I would ask how many Heisman Trophy winning quarterbacks have won a Super Bowl, you’d have to burn up google to find the answer. So historically, is it worth the risk?

So how silly is the historical argument?

Awful logic....how many super bowl winning QBs came out of Tennessee before Peyton? Miami of Ohio before Big Ben? There isn't some NFL QB factory. Maybe we should take the next Purdue QB because of Brees and Griese. The only time this logic makes sense is when a college team runs gimmic offense that cannot translate.

Not sold on haskins. Not a 1st rounder imo. Maybe a 3rd pick.

He will be gone early first barring a terrible evaluation period which is unlikely.

If he's there at 13 I'd pull the trigger. Perhaps move up as well (ahead of Giants/Jags most likely) if the price is very favorable, but wouldn't give up the farm. Game theory: with such a massive defense laden draft, it may be cheaper to move up for an offensive player as a team like the Bucs might feel they can get a good blue chipper at our spot. Plus, with the depth of the draft, we may be able to give up a little ammo and still grab some people. Additionally, it sets us up well if 2020 turns out to be a big year for QBs as we wouldn't need one.

He'll be gone early, yes, but that doesn't mean he deserves to be taken in the 1st. This QB class is arguably the worst of the last decade, and as such, teams will reach for lesser prospects. If this were even an average QB class, Haskins would be looking at a 2nd-4th round evaluation. I wouldn't pull the trigger on him unless he's there in the mid-rounds.

Only incoherent teams will move up for a QB in this defensive draft. If we sit at No. 13, it's quite likely one or two blue-chip defensive prospects fall to us. Besides, the falloff from Haskins to the next best QB prospect (Daniel Jones, Drew Lock, Ryan Finley, etc.) is absurdly minimal, if existent at all. We're in rebuild mode, which means BPA.

Several of these guys will be available at No. 13: Devin White (LB), Ed Oliver (DT), Jeffery Simmons (DT), Rashan Gary (DT), Clellin Ferrell (EDGE), Montez Sweat (EDGE), Christian Wilkins (DT), Raekwon Davis (NT). Miami ought to take the best of the bunch per their evals, sign a veteran "bridge" QB on the cheap (Ryan Fitzpatrick?), draft a QB in the mid-late rounds (Clayton Thorson?) and let the two duke it out with Luke Falk for the rights to start in 2020. If they suck, fine--we get to choose from Jake Fromm and Tua Tagovailoa next year. If one of the young guys looks promising, guess what? We may have found our guy. Just no need to reach in this draft.

I get the eagerness for a QB, but let's do this thing the right way. Unless it's a surefire QB prospect (à la Andrew Luck) we should stay put and target BPA, especially in a class as defensively stout as this one.

Luck was a generational guy. Trevor Lawrence will probably get that hype in 2021, but none of Tua, Fromm or Herbert are of that caliber.

A mid round pick QB is imo a wasted draft pick at this point. Draft high unless and until you get one. I think you are underrating Haskins, but that's fine - he's definitely not a sure fire thing. I don't think it's wise to count one's chickens in regards to next year though. What happens if Tua goes back to school (as rumors say his parents want him to graduate) and Fromm gets injured? Suddenly that class is weak too.

Basically, if the opportunity exists, and your eval says it's fine, take it now. If the eval isn't there, then sure, pass and reevaluate next offseason.

I wouldn't say a mid round QB is a waste of a pick. Dak Prescott was a fourth round pick, and so did Kirk Cousins. Then there are two recent super bowl winning quarterbacks picked in the third round: Russell Wilson and Nick Foles.

Now those guys aren't the normal mid round QB, most never become more than a backup at best. But if someone does have the talent but has fallen for whatever reason, take a risk and put them on the roster and let them develop and compete. Who knows, maybe we land our franchise QB outside the first round?

I'm of the always draft a QB mindset. Pick one up late in the draft every year or at least every other year. See if you can coach them up. You may keep them for your starter or you can use them as trade and draft capital. You may just end up cutting them. You never know.

Its a smart move by Haskins. By coming out this year, he positions himself to be the top QB taken, almost certainly in the top 10, and maybe #1 overall. Had he waited, then he'd have entered into a crowded field and risked the posibility of being drafted much later.

I think we want a QB that has to read and follow multiple progressions in college. The running QB that has 1 read and then run is a super long-shot and very rarely develops into an NFL QB. All QBs will require good coaching to develop and we have not had one in a long time.

Talk seems to be growing that Murray is going to declare for the draft. This is the guy I'm all in on. I don't care about his height the guy can play.

IMO, Murray is the best QB coming out this year.

I can see how people like Lock, Grier, and even Jones.

Saying that, if the Dolphins don't grab Murray with their 1st pick, I'd be A-OK with them giving Easton Stick or Dwayne Haskins a try by grabbing either one with their 2nd or 3rd round pick. However, I suspect that Haskins goes top 10.

I agree on Murray and I don't think his height is a problem.

I would be all over Easton Stick as a mid round pick. He is definitely a guy you could develop a little and at worst end up with a capable backup. I'm going to be watching the East West Shrine game this weekend so I can get a better look at him.
