    Super hard pass.

On the one hand Bell is legit, on the other we have some solid young talent already and I don't he wants to sign cheap-ish.

Here's the question...if we did sign him, do you think that would change our offseason or draft focus? Like maybe draft a couple lineman high to build around the run game instead of taking a QB or CB?

Why not draft a couple of lineman and focus on a run game and not spend a ton of cash on Bell? Seems like he is a very expensive luxury that goes against what the new regime is trying to build.

Oh I agree we should not sign him. Im just saying if the new regime did sign him, do you think that would adjust our team building focus?

This is all hypothetical because it most likely won't happen..you don't go into a rebuilding year with all the talk about them tanking or just focusing on 2020 or however it was phased and then sign a guy to the most expensive RB contract ever that resets the market. This guy will absolutely want game changing money. He wouldn't miss out on 14 mil last year if he wasnt planning on tryimg to make most of it up with a blockbuster deal.

Either way dear lord do we need to focus on that Oline regardless. Hopefully they build the trenches this year before they get a QB next year. Lord knows we dont need another QB running for their life.

Signing a late 20 something year old HB during a rebuild is idiotic. As the late Amy Winehouse would say I say no no no.

Hell no! Dont want him, Dont need him. I would prefer to roll with the guys we had last year including Gore. I would love to bring him back! He is the kind of professional we need in Miami. Plus he is still productive and wants to be here.

Was listening to Hannity yesterday and he had Tony Dungy on the air with him. Dungy spoke of the reasons why some teams excel always and others do not and one of the reasons he mentioned was an acronym called "SOUL"

    Selflessness
    Own your job
    Unity
    Live in the community

LaVeon Bell may be a great running back but with his shenanigans last season, he lacks selflessness and unity with his team. I truly only want players on this team that WANT to be here because they believe in something bigger than themselves and want to be apart of it...not an opportunity to increase the size of their bank account.

So I don't care how badly Bell wants to come to Miami....that's a "NO" as far as I'm concerned.

Sanders was good, we don't need a new Kicker. ;)

As for Bell? No way. He would make a lot more sense in Cleveland, to give the young QB more help, but makes no sense for a team that is closer to rebuild status in Miami. I could see the Jets getting him too, but so it goes.

Focus on getting a QB to build around, then OL and DL, and THEN add the skill players.

I love his talent on the field. If we were a piece or two away, with one of those being RB I'd be all over doing whatever is possible to get him here.

That being said... with his off field drama, and the fact we're in a rebuild, along with the fact we have Drake and Ballage hanging around I'm not interesting in adding him. No chance at this point.

I'm not gonna call the guy a primadonna or head case or whatever because he wanted to be paid, but hes not a guy we need to pay that kind of money for right now. Not close enough, no QB and we have cheap talent at the position. Pass.

Does Bell know that Tannenbaum has been, ah...hem...hem..., reassigned? If he's fishing for a big contract, I am hopeful Grier might not be so accommodating.

He’s not a premadona. Ask any of his teammates he was an excellent player. If we can take Gore and one of the other backs salaries and keep drake I’d do it in a heartbeat.

I would love a backfield if drake and Bell

That’s with a real coach would be a blessing to any QB coming in.

I don't know you guys, he is a head case but we should be open to everything. If he is willing to pay us enough for the privilege we should at least listen. I would be willing to let him pay the league minimum veteran base salary plus a few incentives for the chance to prove himself.

Because we give him the money he wants to earn?

There is no problem between Bell and Steelers over his role, it purely comes down to Bell wanting more than the Steelers are willing to pay. So if we or any other team pay that demand then Bell will happily take his services to that team.

What concerns me about this is why we are reportedly Bell's favoured destination. I could have understood that had we been coming off our 10-6 season. At that point adding a player of Bell's caliber could have helped take our offense to the next level and take significant pressure of Ryan Tannehill. However, we aren't in that position. We arguably don't have our quarterback of the future. Our O-Line needs revamping. As does our defense. So unless we plan to do the typical bandaid approach that our beloved team loves to adopt, Bell coming here doesn't make sense because he would be joining a rebuild. That would mean he would be joining us for a pay day and the Miami lifestyle and nightlife, so not really footballing reasons.

I just dont think it makes sense to strap your cap anymore, just have a good evaluating team and fill the role with a younger cheaper player, I think you should always keep your balance, of course spend as much as the cap allows every year but do not compromise the balance of your team by tipping a huge chunk of the cap on one player..

I would add that I’m willing to pay great players, but only the ones who have the football mindset and intellect I’m looking for..

Why would he join a rebuild? He clearly does not care about winning and that is the only reason I see him coming here. Logic would suggest that Bell would want to play for a team that had an established starter at quarterback. Coming to Miami would end his career a lot quicker.

Funny you put it that way Mike because he will not have “earned” any money we pay him. He’d get his big payday...in advance, prior to stepping into the field and then we would expect greatness.

I really truly feel, deep down to my very core that free agency contracts should be incentive based. If “you” want to leave your current team and go to another team, your contract for that big payday should be based on what you do and not your history with your previous team.

You want “x” million dollar, “x” year contract? Ok fine, you WILL rush for “x” yards per game, score “x” touchdowns, catch “x” passes and if you do, THEN you will have EARNED that paycheck for THAT game but if you didn’t, then you’re going to be docked “x” dollars per metric you missed...

THAT’S how you get free agents to EARN the big payday they want another team to pay them.

Paying free agents big money for simply saying they want to play for you is utterly stupid

The reason it's not done this way is because there are too many variables, and ultimately the only stat that matters is wins. Sometimes the best way to win is by passing, not running. In that case, is it the RBs fault that he only got 12 carries instead of 20? Or, is the RB also allowed to call the plays since he's working on incentives now?

What happens when your defensive coughs up a few early TDs and you're playing from behind, so now you have to pass a lot more? Are you going to tell your RB that he didn't have a good game and you won't be paying him? What if he's a team player who sacrificed his personal stats in order to get the win? Does he deserve to be stiffed on his pay for not meeting his goals?

When you sign a FA in the NFL, you're not paying for what he's done, you're paying for what you hope he will do. You're acknowledging that he can do things others can't do, and those skills are worth more money. It's up to you to do your homework and make sure that player fits with what you want to do.
