Ross throwing shade at the other teams trying to find Sean McVay clones cracked me up.

I gotta say that it was nice to see a coach who seemed genuinely happy to be here instead of watching Gase look like a spoiled child being dragged away from his Xbox and being forced to hang out with grandma.

The view and the weather are two big plusses to living here. There are downsides too.

If anyone ever gets over this way look me up, we can grab something to eat/drink.

That's a great picture, isn't it? It looks like a pretty cool place to live. I only saw the other side as I was passing by on the USS Nimitz (CVN 68) back in the 80's.. :-)

I have to say, as disappointed as I was with the hiring. I have began to fall in love with Coach Flores. His ability as a communicator and as a leader of men, seem to really stand strong. For me, those are extremely important when building something special.

Who knows if Flores will succeed where so many others since Shula have failed, but one thing you have to like are his communication skills. Philbin and Gase both looked like they were on the spectrum a little bit. During press conferences both of them seemed to have a real problem making and maintaining eye contact while being asked or answering questions. I didn't see that during the little I watched of the Flores presser. Part of being a good leader is being a good communicator, so that's a start.

I always used to think Gase was on something, with his hat pulled down tightly over his manic, staring eyes. THAT Jets press conference has done nothing but enhance my suspicions. Anyway, he's gone now and yes, I agree, Flores speaks very well, very calmly, very assuredly. He seems to have an air of authority about him, without resorting to raising his voice (which I'm sure he will do if and when it becomes necessary).

Not my first choice either but he's definitely growing on me. I'm always glass half full when it comes to the Dolphins but every time I hear Flo speak or read about what he wants to do, what his vision is, it starts creeping up to 3/4 full.

Flores says that he promises to be demanding. Time will tell what that ends up meaning. He also says that he's going to be honest and tell the truth, which would be a big 180 from what the franchise has done since 2005, but I guess he might only mean that he'll be that way with the players, and not the media or the fans.

My big hope is that he'll try to be successful by virtue of having talented players who do their jobs well, and smart play calls that take advantage of what the other team is poor at - instead of what Gase did, constantly trying all game long to set up a trick play to work in the 4th quarter.

Yeah, He was not my 1st choice and I agree with the above. The thing that really convinced me was his defenses performance throughout the post season. Not just the Super Bowl.

Most of the quality control guys are just breaking into coaching and getting their feet wet. As I understand it, its a bit of an opprotunity for them to see if they want to make coaching a career, and for the team to determine if they're worthy of being promoted to an assistant position coach as the next step.

I have no idea what an Offensive Quality Control Coach does so I doubt it has very much impact on things.

I am guessing that in addition to fetching coffee and assorted snacks he would chart the offensive plays and measure the efficiency of each play against the defense called. Of course I could be way off base here. He might just fetch coffee, which is a job I could do (raise hand. Pick me! Pick me!) What ever he does, I hope he continues to rock that hair style. Looks pretty cool!

Grunt work that provides some of the underlying basis of a game-plan.

    https://sports.yahoo.com/bill-belic...starts-pencils-papers-patience-144917817.html

He'll probably spend a lot of time "padding" games(diagramming the action of every player on every play over the course of the game), and compiling useful information to submit to position coaches and coordinators in building the game-plan.

"If the plan comes together just right -- and that’s not guaranteed but the Miami Dolphins are optimistic it will -- new head coach Brian Flores is about to do something important and beneficial that several of his predecessors failed to do.

Flores has, according to multiple reports, been trying to hire NFL veteran coaches Jim Caldwell and Dom Capers.

Capers, 68, was expecting to join the Dolphins if he wasn’t hired as the defensive coordinator in Cincinnati, according to Sirius NFL radio. He also is on the radar for a post with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Caldwell, 64, has reportedly been offered a job with the Dolphins as an assistant head coach after taking a couple of head coach interviews in the recent hiring cycle.

And it makes sense that these veteran coaches have multiple opportunities they’re weighing because they bring experience and excellence and the benefit of wisdom...

...That leads me to this: Flores deserves praise for recognizing how veteran coaches with much more experience than him could help in his new assignment.

But as you’ve just read, it’s not just about having those men around. It’s about using them as resources. It’s about not being afraid to ask for advice or admitting you need help.

We’ll see if Flores can clear that hurdle when he’s facing a dozen problems that he wasn’t expecting some day next week or next month.

But it’s good news he has at least armed himself with the ability to get that help if he wants it."

    Hello everyone,,
I do like how his experience in the Patriots’ organization is pretty well rounded...offensively, defensively, special teams...he been exposed to all of it and seems to be a sponge in soaking up all that knowledge and experience. That’s a big plus in his favor.
What causes me pause however is he’s not his own staff per day. He’s not been his OWN DC, selecting his own staff. He’s not been a HC nor a coordinator of his own. He inherited what had already been built and ran the playbook given to him.
I’m not saying that Flores is going to be a bust, by no means whatsoever. I’m hopeful with the hiring of a defensive coach that the Dolphins will turn around our inability to prevent teams from scoring on us. I’m just leery over the fact this will be the 6th HC we’ve hired that’s had no NFL head coaching experience......

    Hello and welcome!

I think a lot of us have reservations about hiring a guy without any HC experience. It's only natural. However, since there is not much we can do about it, I am gonna try and enjoy the ride. Most of the time, I am a glass half full guy. Some things I like about Flores so far is his humility and team first attitude. He might not be the X and O guy that Gase was, but he's not a prima donna either. I hope our team can appreciate his leadership style. For me, the most important thing is getting our guys to all row together in the same direction and for them to do their job.
