Building a team around Durant is a MASSIVE gamble. This is the guy who said, “I don’t want to have to be the leader. I’m not a leader. I’m bad at saying, ‘Stand behind me and follow me.’ "

He’s still a top 3 player in the NBA and I’d be all over that.

Kawhi Leonard isn’t a leader either and every team would love to have him.

I’m not so sure Anthony Davis is a “leader” either

If you want to see real delusion, go to the lakers subreddit.

AD is a TERRIBLE leader. I've watched him since Kentucky. He has been extremely deferential his whole career. He's getting better, and I'm sure he will continue to improve with time. But he doesn't hype up or get on his teammates on or off the court. Even worse, he rarely demands the ball. He refused to play the 5 up until Boogie got injured.

Don't get me wrong. He's my favorite player and he's a generational talent. But he's not a leader. He's not an alpha with this burning desire to win at all costs.

With Kyrie's comments? I think we have identified player 1 of 2.

Folks better get their digs in now, after this summer? Ya can't.

I see a lot of people suggesting packaging your 1st pick, DSJ, Knox plus more for AD.

If y’all get the 1st overall pick I think that would be a mistake letting Zion go.

Edit - the knicks are 10-40.

Kyrie has got a giant *** chip on his shoulder for no apparent reason... he is a badass on the court, no one is telling him what to do. So the comments he made today was completely unnecessary.

With that said After those comments Ainge should get on the phone and call New Orleans..

I don't see anyone trading Zion for ANYONE.

If NY is lucky enough to get him? I'm sure they will take him.

You’d be a fool to prioritize Zion over AD.

Knicks fans cheering for Kyrie and it’s genius - he’s probably loving it.

Im not sure his comments say that so much as the fact he is from north NJ, grew up a NYK fan, wanted to sign in NY the first time he was a FA but then he found out Lebron was coming back to Cleveland...

    Also theres this: https://syndication.bleacherreport....-kevin-durant-kyrie-irving-on-knicks.amp.html
Agreed. Zion as Draymond, KD, Kyrie and Knox with either Frank or DSJ as the other guard. Thats a team you can build with and eventually win with.
No you wouldnt. AD is awesome no question. But assuming 2 max guys come (for arguments sake KD and Kyrie), Zion, Knox, Frank and Smith being on cap friendly contracts allows a team to be put around the 2 max guys and youd have about 3m under the cap still.

You underestimate AD. He’s better than awesome. He’s the best at what he does on both ends of the floor. Zion might be great. Might not.

I hope he goes to NY. My buddy works in their front office. When you watch him night in and night out, you’ll tell me how wrong you were.

I dont underestimate AD. Hes one of the top 5-7 players in the league. But cap flexibility for 2 max + Zion and keeping Knox, Frank and DSJ > 2 Max and AD and at that point youre cap is screwed and you cant sign anything but midlevel guys.

And yes, there is a scenario where the Knicks can sign 2 max and trade for AD. It would need to be DSJ, Knox, Frank, and Damyean Dotson though who go which i would not do. Thats 3 top 10 picks.

When you think about it, you may as well not entertain any offers with the Lakers if youre the Pelicans. I mean theyre in the lottery at the moment.. if they get one of the first two picks... AD may have a change of heart if he can play with Zion or Rj

I think the #1 overall pick alone for AD is a fair trade for the pelicans. Dudes leaving next year anyway. I’d rather have Zion than a few mediocre immature kids and late 1st rounders that LA can offer.

Knicks are on the list. Not sure any of those teams really has what the Pels are going to want

props to the 76ers for getting Tobias Harris. Thats the only guy I was hoping the Nets would make a play for. Though looking at what the 76ers gave up for him its way too much for us. He would've been the perfect forward for us but way too many draft picks to give up. 76ers all in. I'll be rooting for them I think, outside of the Nets of course

hate to say it but I think trading for AD is a sucker bet for anyone other than the Lakers. I hate the Lakers more than any other team but I think AD is sold on playing there regardless of what he states publicly. He wants the Hollywood lifestyle. I wouldnt give up any more than a 2nd. You get a one year rental and that's it. Irving and Durant are the players to target. Davis is like betting 00 on the roulette wheel. A long, long shot.

yes. as opposed to a red or black bet which is either a 47% probability or 48.6 probability depending if it's a single 0 or double 0 table.....And that concludes our Roulette for Beginners segment. Please tip your waiters and waitresses.:cool2:

Toronto just stole Marc Gasol. Theyre going for it (as well they should since Lowrys 33 and Kawhi is a FA)

The East got very interesting all of a sudden. With the Bucks, Raptors and 76ers all upgrading at the deadline, it pretty much assures the second and third round will be some great basketball to watch. Who knows maybe the East representative can even make a series of the Finals.

Miami could realistically still get as high as 6th in the draft lottery if we tank the season. Memphis currently has the 6th worst record with only 3 fewer wins that Miami.

No apparent reason. They attached ellington with him too.

And they say we saved 5 million but in all honesty who gives a ****.. we dont have the cap space to do anything worth a damn till after 2021

What has happened to the NBA. It’s a sideshow.

Lakers nor 76ers are even attempting to play defense.

Its been this way since the warriors first championship in this dynasty theyre currently in.. its pathetic... youre not gonna see defense like you saw with the Spurs when they beat my Heat or the Heat’s defense during their championship run.. those days are over and its a new, unattractive era atm

This is the effect of when the players are bigger than the teams. I'm sure all these coaches want to scream at the top of their lungs with this effort.

Don't know if any of you have watched Marquette this year but you should. Have a feeling they will surprise in the tourney this year. Even though it won't translate to the NBA, I think G Markus Howard is having the best year of any player this year. Unfortunately He's 5'11 so at best he could be a bench player at the next level. Think he would be a decent gamble in the 2nd round. The guy is a scoring machine. He'll have trouble playing defense but I think he can still score at the next level

Yeah DLO has arrived. Had a horrible game vs Cleveland where he just couldn't find a shot and then overtime comes and he drops 24. That's a legit all star. Score when it matters. Even on a night when you aint feelin it. Hope the four young guys going to the all star event have fun. Allen, kurocs and Harris should have a ball with DLO.
