McCown Trade to Carolina Per Foxsports

So the leak came from the Panthers and not the Dolphins. Big deal, it's still confirmation.

So long, Josh. Carolina is a better team than the Dolphins, you'll be fine there.

 

It was reported early last week that the Dolphins were asking for a third for Beck. I still believe they're asking for higher than what we'll learn they ultimately got for McCown. He still was a #2 pick a year ago, still a young QB with upside. Obviously nobody wants to meet Miami's price right now.

I like Beck and am glad he's still on the roster. But he has been somewhat disappointing to this point. No matter what I read today, nobody can deny that this board was overwhelmingly of the opinion that Beck had the job in the bag as late as mid-July. And it was indeed his job to lose. Right now he's rightfully the third QB.

Hopefully he can overcome this.

Not necessarily......he could still get moved. What if we sent him off with that 7th and get a 3rd in return ? We then can pick up one of the younger QB's that are raw and may have potential.

 

Certainly. He's not useless. Guy works his *** off and he knows the offense. He's got upside. Hence the higher price.

But the dude was on the block. And I don't think they would have hesitated to pull the trigger had the gotten say a conditional 4th or 3rd.

 

That would be the equivalent of walking in a circle and calling it progress.

No. I don't see it happening. We continue to be linked with Chris Simms simply because of his last name. By that logic, we're interested in Luke McCown.

Beck stays. Our QB position is settled: Pennington this year, Henne or Beck next year and then on.

 

that extra 6th for JT was for 2010...unless we got another 06 somewhere else? refresh my atrophied mind.

 

for starters, depending on how Pennington fairs, I don't think its impossible for him to come in and start next year too. Some coaches develop Qbs for more than a single season.

I do think it'd be near impossible for Beck to come in, and out-play and earn a starting spot over Henne next season. Henne's done a pretty amazing job as a rookie QB in many different facets.

 

Yes, you did. I am a little surprised, but on reflection this makes sense. Hopefully this will be good for Beck, too.

 

You've got to respect the tenacity of the Front Office. I mean if they're working this hard for second day picks, imagine how hard they'll work for first day picks. Well done boys, well done.

You have to be impressed with the way this group is putting the Dolphins team back together, I wonder what the average age is now for the Dolphin players?

I guess you can say they are convinced in building a team through the draft.

 

Well at least we won't have anything stupid like like carrying four QBs into the season instead of keeping say Rodrique Wright.

The staff must be very satisfied with Henne's development at this point.

 

That was an '08 pick, we got it back when we traded L.Booker to the Eagles for their 4th rounder.

I have nothing against Beck. If he can win us games, I am all for it, but I think even the hardcore Pro Beck guys should admit that he has been a disappointment so far in his career.

And I don't put much stock in rumors.

 

Wow, in no way am I bashing, but did you just feel when he was signed he would be our long term starting quarterback? Or were you a fan of his before he came to Miami?

 

McCown ends up being the QB traded and you've still got some on here trying to twist this somehow still that Parcell's crew absolutely wants rid of Beck.

This after a trade offer for Beck from Dallas involving a higher draft pick was turned down by Ireland/Parcells.

Some sound logic there.

That rumor was shot down by Jerry Jones according to SI a while ago.

I'm a huge fan of Beck but yeah, I have been disappointed with him so far.

 

IMO, this is possible, and a plausible idea. Can't discount the connection between Papa Simms and Parcells may extend to us bringing in Chris as an upgrade over McCown as a veteran backup, especially if we can get a draft pick for Beck that is a 5 or higher. Not that I want it to happen, personally not ready to pull the plug on Beck just yet, only saying IMO it is in the realm of a reasonable possibility.

 

If we don't keep Wright I am gonna be fu cking pissed off. 7 is a good number of DL for a 3-4 team to carry and I really seriously doubt any young DL will be waived that are better than Wright.

 

We are lucky we dont have to give them any thing for taking him
