The only 3 teams I care about... Miami Dolphins Michigan Wolverines Football Houston Rockets The last time I celebrated any championship was 1997 with Michigan. I want to win. I am sick of excuses. I don't care how you get it done...get it done.
So empty victories are fine? For ****s and giggles, let's say Steve Ross publicly paid every owner to throw every game against the Dolphins, including playoffs and SB....would you celebrate that victory?
You better hope the Rockets find a way in the next couple of years, because those other 2 teams!!??? YUK
Unpopular opinion? There's a lot of grey area between HOFer and bust. But some people don't like to accept that you can be average and that's not the same as a failure.
If the team isn't going to bring in a long term option at QB this year, which seems likely, then I would definately explore whether we can trade Stills. I love the guy, but he clearly isn't a fit with every QB, and having him out on the field on a bad offense is likely to be a repeat of when Brock was our QB last year, and looked his way once a game.
Fresh shredded cabbage, with a little mayo, sour cream, lime juice, cayenne pepper, salt, pepper and some apple cider vinegar works nicely on some fish tacos.
I think that its pretty easy to argue that if you were to look at every first and second round pick that the Fins have spent on position players on offense since Marino was drafted, RT would rank at or near the very top in how he turned out. If you're one of the best guys that a team has taken in three plus decades, then you aren't the bust.
Unpopular opinion...the Miami Dolphins will finish in last place in the AFC east the next three years.
I think that last place in 2019 is a virtual certainty. But I'm in no way afraid of what's happening in Buffalo, so jumping ahead of them as soon as 2020 isn't crazy. I would be very surprised if we finished better than third before 2022 though.
Not arguing it is unpopular, I just literally do not understand how anyone can feel this way. A victory won by cheating isn't a victory. You would consider a game where the Dolphins won because there wasn't an opponent a happy moment for you.
Do you know what's boring? The same people that have to continue pushing their overbearing agenda about "building the trenches", completely ignoring the quarterback position, and blatantly tanking a season for a shot at a real quarterback that may or may not be the real deal and may or may not be available in April of 2020. That....idea and way of thinking makes for a lonnnng loonnng year and an even longer offseason. I may be in the minority here, but the actual idea of blatant tanking makes me want to hibernate in a cave with Monks who refuse to speak. I'd rather crap in my hands and clap, then sit through a 1-15 season. We don't need to tank to obtain a top pick in the draft. Trades can be made to acquire those picks if we really desire them. Now i'm not opposed to the idea of building whichever way some of you want to build, but when #Team"trench builders" try and stuff that agenda down your throat and then resort to insults when someone disagrees by they saying "hey...If Lock is available, we should take him or...I like Kyler Murray", the whole repetitive trench building tourettes agenda gets rather boring. It's like being in a store with a little kid and having them repeat themselves over and over again. "I want candy, I want candy, I want candy!" I mean.....That's fine if we decide to ignore the Quarterback position (actually no it isn't). Watching Jake Ruddock lead the team for a year will cause an outburst of anger whether those that want that to happen will admit it or not. In other words....The people clamoring for this horrific idea are going to be crying four weeks into the season about how bad this team is, and how we need a quarterback. I've seen tanking.....I'm a 76ers fan for the NBA. It was the most miserable four years of my life and now we have all this talent and it's great....But.....The funny thing is.....We're still not contending in good old Philadelphia...We can't even beat Boston without Kyrie Irving, the city wants to fire the head coach, people (as crazy as this is) want to trade Ben Simmons, they even want to trade Joel Embiid. There's constant whining going on about the entire team despite being a playoff team. Tanking isn't going to heal everything. Getting a franchise Quarterback will, but tanking to do achieve that isn't a lock to happen. That's why I don't see the point in wasting a season...Blatantly wasting a season. I'm just not buying it......I don't think Flores came here to lose on purpose, I don't think Ross wants to sit around for five years in his ripe old age and purposely tank seasons. I think some of you are misconstruing "build the right way" vrs blatant tanking. I think build the right way means not reaching for the shiny sexy prospect....Not going with the cool Mustang when you need a good pickup truck. I think that is what build the right way means. Now if that applies to passing on Kyler Murray or Drew Lock and hopefully Haskins, then so be it. I'm not the one calling the shots, and I have no choice but to trust the organization. I just think people are confusing tanking with building right. Again....What the 76ers did was blatantly tank seasons. They redshirted their rookies, they signed and paid D league players and they used a process to get to the point that they are at (which is currently a 5th seed in the eastern conference).
thats an indictment on this front office in your context, In mine, relative to being a top 12 pick at the qb position, graded 6 years later, especially at the important stuff, he's below average, which equals a big waste of time. The front office has been the worst in the league at evaluating the position since he was drafted.
The ratings will be sustainable for a long long time. I don't think the NFL is dropping off the face of the earth anytime soon, but I do think it sucks and has become unwatchable. It's been bad and getting worse. I think the reason the ratings are still so good is muscle memory. People keep watching because they've become so emotionally invested in the product over the years they don't know what else to do with their time. It will take a lot of suck before the ratings suffer a considerable drop. And who knows, maybe the NFL can turn it around. I think there will have to be huge changes in officiating and commercials though. In today's streaming society the terrible commercials repeated thousands of times over the course of an NFL season will be less tolerated as the years roll on. Just my unpopular opinion but one I think more and more are starting to share.
Unpopular opinion: Tannehill is a pretty good QB. I hate the Miami Dolphin fight song (we talking superbowl... for real?) Would rather the mascot be something that is fearful like a shark, maybe Miami Hammerheads! We should sell the farm for Murray Get the feeling Flores being black played a role in him getting hired, pressure to hire a minority staff and possibly get a black QB for the purpose of attracting players to come to Miami AND increase RISE popularity. (I do think Flores is qualified so don't get it twisted)
Right now NFL and other sports are practically the only things keeping network TV alive. I know it is your unpopular opinion, however, I love watching it just the same as I did 10 to 20 years ago.
The NFL is, and has been, my favorite thing to watch on TV (or any other media) period, for a long time. However, my love of college football has gradually waned over the last decade or so due to the way that the game has changed on the field. If those same changes become commonplace in the NFL, as some think they will, then I worry that the NFL will be hard to watch, just as college football has become. Time will tell, but I'll cross my fingers that its all just a fad.
The top 3 offensive lines at the close of 2017 were the Eagles, Cowboys, and the Falcons. Two of those teams have recently made a trip to the Super Bowl, so it's kind of hard to for anyone to take your your "overbearing agenda" argument seriously. To dominate in this league, you either have a top O line or a top five QB. I am also highly against tanking, but I'm not sure where you're getting that we're completely ignoring the QB situation. There's one name in free agency that's clearly better than Tannehill, then several downgrades....we can't improve in free agency. In the draft, there's two potential starters that would be an upgrade over Tannehill and we'd have to "bet the future" to get one of them...likely giving up our 2020 1st round pick. That makes zero sense unless you're 100% sold on somebody and Murray didn't test well at the combine, was said to have a poor work ethic, etc. It's impossible to bet the farm on him. The one way we can instantly make any QB look better is focusing on the offensive line- again, I'll go back to Philly and Atlanta. Or we can look at NE where Brady went untouched throughout the playoffs and was sacked once in the Super Bowl (against a historically good D). Good quarterbacks and running backs look great behind an elite line- I honestly don't think Foles wouldn't be significantly better in Miami than Tannehill since he's going from one of the best to one of the worst lines. You're free to have your own opinion, but the rants that others can't share theirs is getting pretty old.
^^^ This x 10 ^^^ Note: I don't find your argument on building the trenches overbearing at all. I happen to agree with you, but even if I didn't, I would welcome your (and everyone else's) opinion. Otherwise, I would never learn anything new and grow from the experience. Life would totally suck! :-)
Super Bowl LIII was the best ever. Gase was always overrated, and will never be a formidable HC. The round a player is selected in means nothing. The Dolphins' new aqua and it's new logo are legit. NFL is great and people are spoiled little *****es.
Haven’t had a chance to see a presser with Flores. I don’t care one bit if he’s boring with the press so long as we win.
I couldn't care less about boring-gate. Philbin had the personality of an oyster,, is it worse than that..?
You completely missed my point. Flew right over your head like an errant Ryan Tannehill pass on 3rd and 8. I mean.....You're basically saying the same thing I am saying which is basically don't berate others for having an opinion that differs from yours. Oh and the Rams had a historically good defense? Really hmmm in what category? Who here mentions Foles? I never did that. I think you're assuming things, but I agree with almost everything you wrote. That's what I don't understand. I honestly think my post was misconstrued. Last week on the facebook forum, I had a guy personally message me and flood the entire message with insults because I like Kyler Murray and he doesn't. So that was more of what I was getting at with this. Nobody said you had to share my opinion or I had to share yours. Christ this is stupid. Of course we need to build the offensive line. Whatever strategy they decide to go with i'll be on board for.
I like Kyler Murray as well....but do I like him enough to give two first rounders and a 2nd rounder? No- there's simply no way. He is unattainable for the Dolphins given we have so many other holes. I mentioned Foles because he's one of the few legit options (I think he's about to sign with Tampa). Who does that leave? Nobody really. It's sort of like that old Spock quote- eliminate the impossible and whatever's left, no matter how improbable, must be the truth. The truth is that there aren't any legit starters out there for 2019 unless we really reach AND get lucky. RT would win 7-9 games so to me, that's the benchmark we should set....who can probably win more? And I can't find any names that fit the bill.
Personality wise he's an improvement on the last two head coaches. Ok, he's not Sean McVay or Jon Gruden, but if he's anything like his mentor Belichick, I'll take boring if it leads us back to contention and a title.
I completely agree, it looks as though we have a lost upcoming season. That's a tough pill for me personally to swallow as a fan of this team. I mean one way to look at it would be "hey....we've sucked for the majority of almost 20 years, what's one more ****ty season?" The other way I look at it is, in the NFL the possibility for a quick turnaround happens more often than not. Teams that are expected to be bad are surprisingly good and teams projected to be good are surprisingly bad. It happens every year. Anything can happen. Why go for broke if all that is needed is a culture change or a shift in leadership? I doubt that is all it will take with this team, but i'm just saying. As far as Quarterback goes, yeah....I personally never had the idea of Foles coming here. I think he would yield the same exact results we've been getting. So what do we? What if we sign Ryan Fitzpatrick and he leads us to a 7-9 season? He could very well do that for us, as could Tyrod Taylor or Teddy Bridgewater. I mention these names because these are the names I keep seeing as a replacement for Tannehill. If we go that route, why the Hell not just keep Tannehill for another season? It's not like he's a cancerous player or a bad influence. The guy is a coaches wet dream, he just can't get to that next level. I mean there are so many possibilities. Which brings me to the idea of someone like Jake Ruddock...Or Cleo Lemon, or John Beck starting for us. That....would be blatant tanking Curtis Painter style. I mean cmon man....That makes for an absolutely miserable season! 2007 is still very fresh in my mind, as is the AJ Feely year. If that is the plan, then why even watch this team next year? Why keep the talent that we have? Lets just go for broke and go 0-16 and then what? For who? What if Tua (who everyone likes) breaks his ankle or tears his ACL in the second to last game of the college season? What if Herbert just refuses to play for Miami or just isn't really all that good? That is why I hate the idea of tanking. It's just not a lock that you are going to get the results you want. Now as far as the draft goes and the Quarterback situation goes, I think the team should just draft the best player available regardless of need. I don't think you can ever go wrong with that approach. I mean Hell yeah! Lets solidify the offensive line. Lets build in the trenches. But according to most (and it's a true assessment) a solid offensive line will make a quarterback look a lot better than he might be. So if we sign Fitzpatrick, Taylor, Bridgewater (who have all proven to be able to win games) then your tank season isn't probably going to happen. Those guys are going to win you 6-8 games and then we're right back to the dreaded mediocre label again. I'm just not sure what the actual plan it or should be, so if it's causing a rant on my part, I apologize. This just feels like classic Miami Dolphins to me. Hopefully the draft will provide some clarity.
