I agree. If we have no plans for T, then if someone would trade for him and we could get a 6th or 7th, I think we should take it. I guess we'll see.
If his salary isn't such a big deal at 21st then why not draft a QB and play Tanny this year and pay him. Then cut him next year with no dead money. Or trade him in the middle of the year if someone has an injury and the draftee can step in.
Teams trading for Tanny would only be taking on that salary not the bonus. It speaks volumes that nobody wants him right now - especially if (as some would suggest) there was any upside left him in.
It doesn't speak volumes. It is simply bad business sense to offer anything for a player that everyone knows is getting cut. Why would you pay more for something than you have to?
There's no serious interest in him and it's obvious. But "experts" here, who repeatedly told those of us who said he wasn't the answer, still know more than the rest of the NFL. Tough pill to swallow apparently.
Yeah I think the real "referendum" on Tannehill (from non Dolphins teams) will occur after we cut him, assuming we don't get lucky and trade him before that happens. And when that happens, I think we'll see confirmation teams don't value him that highly. Something else worth noting: we were told from well over a year ago and also during the early part of the 2018 season by those that had access to "inside" info that there's almost no way Tannehill isn't the starting QB of the Dolphins in 2019 and that people suggesting otherwise just don't know what they're talking about. Just saying.. next time we hear that kind of certainty of opinion, remember Tannehill.
I am confused. Where are all these "Tannehill will for sure get at least a 3rd rounder" posts? Such a weird attack on the message board here. Especially since most are still taking about Kyler Murray
I don't know about THill for a 3rd posts, but more just everything that has gone into THill as the great hype/hope. And ultimately, people like being right, and dislike being wrong. To be fair, until he is actually released, there is still a chance ...
That’s what what 20 plus years of absolute **** bring the fan base you can only ok we’ll get em next year until you snap and start rooting for them to fail. So you can get a change.
People please stop defending tannehill to make yourselves feel better! He is not and never was a franchise QB as the rest of the league has spoken with no trade interest.Teams don't wait for franchise QBS to be cut.
I don't get this arguing over 'Where is the 3rd rounder posters were guaranteeing us for RT'. What does it solve? I think that most of us can separate RT the man and RT the football player. RT the man seems like a genuinely nice person, who I think most of us have no problem with. RT the football player has certainly had his fair share of ups and downs over his time in Miami and that has led to his polarising opinions among the fanbase. The bit I don't get is why us having a difference of opinion needs to lead us to constantly seek validation on the fact that everyone can agree that they were right all along, and everybody else was wrong for having a different opinion. I can hold my hands up and admit that I was wrong on Ryan Tannehill. I thought he was the guy that could make us a playoff calibre side. I thought he could be the guy that let us have epic battles with the Patriots over the division. That doesn't mean I cannot be right on other subjects, just that I was wrong on this one. Some of that may have been born out of some misguided opinions on certain matters, but some of it was also born out of the fact that I want my team to be good. I hope that none of us start a season hoping for us to have a terrible season, I hope that we all start seasons dreaming of our side winning the Super Bowl no matter how impossible that dream seems. Now before somebody gets all pragmatic on me and says something along the lines of us finishing 0-16 would give us the best chance to improve in the long term, let me head that off by saying that you may well be correct. Does that mean however that you hope your team loses every game this season? Maybe it's where the difference lies; when it comes to sport I don't tend to think with my head, I think mostly with my heart. It hurts me when we lose any game regardless of how unlikely it was that we'd win, or that it might benefit us in any way. I know I've strayed from the topic of Ryan Tannehill and his fate with the Miami Dolphins, so I'll return to the topic by once again asking; what does it matter if someone posted that they thought that we could get a third round pick for Ryan Tannehill? Does it impact your life? Does it impact the team? Unless the person posting is a high ranking member of the Miami Dolphins backroom staff that might get to actually make these type of demands to another team, then I suspect the answer is no. I'm not saying that we can't call out stupid posts, or that we can't disagree on matters, I'm just saying that maybe we can try and think before posting so that don't end up splitting the fanbase into so many pieces that this entire place becomes toxic just over having a difference of opinion over a few players.
Don't worry.. nothing will unify this fanbase more than getting Tannehill out of here. The "Tannehill Wars" from a few years ago were about as toxic as you can image. Nothing in the last year or so comes anywhere close to that. And we can thank Tannehill himself for this calming of the boards because HE was the one who provided overwhelming evidence he wasn't our solution at QB, as you yourself acknowledge. For a short while it looked like Gase might replace Tannehill as the new source of division, but Ross made sure that wouldn't happen either. Both Tannehill and Ross worked together to help make sure the fanbase wasn't too divided this offseason. So I wouldn't worry. Our main worry is that the team has been mediocre for too long! And that's no fan's fault.
bc the coaches are the same from 2017 season to 2019 season.............................................
Yeah.. except for the fact that there were a bunch of reports about the Dolphins moving on from Tannehill well before Ross decided to fire Gase. So it's not like Tannehill was fired BECAUSE we fired Gase. Ross lost confidence in Tannehill before he decided to fire Gase. Regardless, the claim made last year that Tannehill was virtually certain to be our QB this year wasn't conditioned on Gase remaining our coach. I wouldn't have posted what I did if that was the claim.
everything you just said is 100% speculation and holds 0 value. facts tannehill is gase's QB he would 100% start 2019 if Gase was the coach. fact: gase is not the coach for 2019.
"Everything" I said is speculation? lol Maybe you weren't paying attention to all the claims people made about there being "no chance" Tannehill isn't the starter in 2019. Sorry dude, that's not speculation that's fact. It's also fact that reports came out saying Tannehill was done well before reports came out saying Ross made the decision to fire Gase after our last game. For example, on Dec. 31st: https://www.miamiherald.com/sports/spt-columns-blogs/barry-jackson/article223763545.html While after that embarrassing Jags loss a week earlier, we had a bunch of reports saying Tannehill was done such as: https://www.miamiherald.com/sports/spt-columns-blogs/armando-salguero/article223490700.html So what I said is true, at least based on what was reported. Now.. you on the other hand just stated it's a fact that Tannehill is Gase's QB in 2019 if Gase was coach. In other words, you're passing off your opinion as fact while I'm going by reports. Maybe you should learn the difference between fact and speculation first before saying stuff like that.
It’s really in no way shape or form the guys fault, he gave it his all, it’s completely mismanaging the position by whoever was in charge of final say..gross mismanagement by someone who should be much better at their job.. Let’s hope it was tannenbaum.
They never once brought in any semblance of competition for him... then doubled down with a contract restructuring after a year and a half layoff due to injury. Only the Miami Dolphins would be so stupid.
Your laying it on thick but I can’t, and I dont think anyone at this point can disagree.. They banked on a flawed QB twice to reach a ceiling that never existed, all the while passing on elite prospects in their own flawed process. It’s sucks because we don’t know if the guy in charge now is the same guy that made some of those decisions. I guess my hope is that he didn’t and he was just was some fake Gm who let tannebaum make the final calls, also have hope that Flores ‘s background in evaluations helps Grier..
Armando salguero has reported his sources saying Gase was done with Tannehill in December and was ready to look into a new starter if he kept the job. Adam Gase...lol, what a joke of a head coach. Real happy we got a real football coach instead of some scared little offensive coordinator wanna be
Gase and Tannehill beating the Dolphins twice next year will be quite amusing to everyone who wanted them out of here.
lol.. IF that happens that tells us 3 things: 1) it was really good we got rid of Gase, 2) Tannehill isn't perceived to be good enough by the rest of the league to be a starter, and 3) no one here better root for either Gase or Tannehill because this is the Jets we're talking about! We'll see what happens of course but Gase bringing in Tannehill as a backup for the Jets would trump all stories about how Tannehill and Gase's futures could have ended with the Dolphins. lol...
As far as I'm aware, Gase doesn't have roster control. It's possible Gase could be behind it - if it happens - but he isn't the one in charge, so could be an unwanted reunion, on both sides...
Not having roster control and not having input on roster moves are two different things. The Jets FO would be stupid to randomly bring in players without at least checking in with the coaching staff. If Tannehill is going to the Jets it's because Gase checked off on it at the very least, IMO.
Would be the best backup in the league very familiar with the offensive system who could easily come in and win games if Darnold gets hurt or struggles. No brainier move to me.
There is a ton of gray area in the coach not having control and a player being forced on him. IF NYJ sign Tannehill then Gase was 100% on board.
Why? To not have to compete with other teams for the services of that player - that's why. There's always an opportunity for him to renegotiate his deal to help it along, but the fact is he can kiss that salary goodbye for the rest of his career.
