It interesting that the Dolphins stayed behind to work out Murray. I am a little surprised because I thought that there was no way we could move up that far in the draft. However, as Travis has pointed out in his article, it's may be difficult but not impossible to make a move. Remember when Ditka gave up his entire draft for the opportunity to select Ricky? ( love the guy by the way!)? Would you support a move by the Dolphins for Murray regardless of the cost? The Browns have had good success with Mayfield. Would Murray give the Dolphins similar success and help jump start our struggling franchise?

Me? I say go for it even if it means giving up a 1st and a 2nd next year. I am at the point of what do we have to lose? It's not like we are on the cusp of pulling it together anyway.

Miami clearly wants him, but there's a decent chance he goes #1 overall. If that's the case, then I don't want him....it goes against everything we're trying to do in Miami (build draft picks and youth, not toss them out). To get him #1 overall, we're probably looking at this years #1, next years #1 and Howard or Fitzpatrick. That's just too much for my blood.

If he slides out of the top 5 though (remember, things change drastically from today to draft day), then yes...I want him! If we can give this year's 1st and 2nd for him, then I'm all for it (or a combo of early mid round picks for 2019/2020). it's really out of our hands at this time though, we just have to see how things unfold in the hype leading up to the draft.

Depends on what is considered "a ton" of picks. I was 100% all-in on him at 13 when he declared, and I would have been willing to make a move into the top 10 if it didn't mean a huge sacrifice.

At this point though, it seems the worst he will fall is 4, and it's likely he is going 1st overall. That's a bounty I'm not sure I will give up. I wouldn't freak out if Grier did it, but I don't think it's the right move. Would rather see us "tank" to a bottom 5ish pick next year and target someone at a more reasonable cost.

Well, here's something else to think about. If we grab Murray at #1 overall, this suddenly isn't a "tank year" anymore and we'd likely start spending salary cap money immediately. If we could get Murray for this year's 1st and our 1st/2nd next season, then we can still draft a line this year and possibly make it exciting.

So I changed my mind- I want Murray at #1 since it takes us out of the Tank for Tua sweepstakes. My only condition is that I don't give up Howard as part of the trade!

Murray falling to us would be worth the risk and make an interesting year for us fans as we debate, "is he the chosen one?". Giving up more picks and especially a first in 2020 to get him would be a HUGE risk. If he turned into a franchise QB then the cost is perfectly acceptable, but the odds of that happening would be 25%? About 50% under the best of circumstances and Murray has been pushed up in a weak QB class.

I would be shocked, shocked I tell you:evil: if Miami stays on the same path that has led us to long term mediocrity. I have no idea if this guy is a good QB, but if the Dolphins cannot block or stop the run we are just spinning our wheels. Fix the lines, cut the dead weight, build up some extra salary cap space and then draft a QB.

Ok so we go all the way up to #1. We give away probably our firsts and seconds for this year and next year (at a minimum). We draft Murray. Who's blocking for him? I mean Tunsil is good but he's not that good.

What are we doing on the defensive side of the ball? Who's getting pressure on the opposition QB?

My point in this is that this roster has a huge number of holes that need to be filled if we wish to have a competitive team. Kyler Murray does not solve the problems this roster has. Could he help? Probably, but he doesn't solve the problem.

This is all speculation of course and there is no evidence that Arizona have any interest in trading away the first pick.

Why think about trading up when our team overall is weak. 1 good offensive lineman. 1 good Wr. No good te. Stacked at rb. No great def. lineman. 2 decent ones. No great linebacker. 1 great cb. And minkah. We don’t even have a team. What can we spare to trade up? I feel the tank is in full effect. As of right now. We are 0-16 next year. And falk is made of paper. Great for practice squad where he can’t get hit.
Seriously though. How do we put a good team together at this point? We currently only have 7 draft picks. If we’re lucky 4 of those will pan out.
Next year looks bleak to me.

Ha! Thanks for the thoughts, ya'll. Looks like it's just me and someone too embarrassed to post under their real name that is in favor of going all out for Murray, LOL! (Thanks anyway, whoever you are). I am definitely in favor of building up the trenches, but I also think it's a QB league and if we have a chance at getting a guy we need to go for it. It takes a lot of luck to have one drop into our laps like Marino. If we are going to get a someone legit we have to be aggressive, make it happen, and take the risk. Otherwise, I fear we will be stuck in mediocrity for forever.

No. I probably would have done it for Baker Mayfield last year but personally, I don't think that Murray is in the same class as Baker. I'd be prepared to move up for Lock or Haskins without betting the house but, unfortunately, I think all 3 will be out of our reach without giving away too much. There are other needs on this team as well as QB.

For a franchise quarterback like a Mahomes or a Mayfield type, id give up three first round picks to make sure we are set for 15 years at that position. Quarterback is everything.

Im not sure Murray is that guy though. But he had an impressive pro day in which he made everything look effortless.

Even though we are loading picks up for the 2020 draft, I guess it would be safe to say there is no reason why we couldn't trade some of those picks to move up in the 2019 draft. The Cardinals could decide to stick with Rosen. If we do sell the farm. I sure hope you are right.

Yet Mahomes went out of the top 10. Aside from a few inches and less groin gestures, Murray imo is more talented than Mayfield.

Until recently I did not think Miami was even close to being interested due to the cost of getting to 1 or 2. Then on March 13th I watched Matt Moore at the OU pro-day watching every throw from KM and taking notes. The next morning I saw the tweet from Gill Brandt about the Miami staff staying behind for a KM private workout. So my questions now is why would Miami keep folks back for a private workout? Do they feel they have a shot at getting KM? There must be something there because I can't see any reason Miami would throw smoke regarding KM.

My wife is from the Norman OK area and when they played that was the ONLY game we could watch. KM is an electric player. He would completely energize the whole team and fan base. He has attributes like Barry Sanders and like Russell Wilson. I am in no way saying he is both or either but if Barry and Russell had a baby it would be Kyler. LOL Before you get a rope let me explain.

Like Barry in that he has stop and go much like him. He goes from complete stop to full speed in a split second and can stop and start on a dime. That is the Barry attribute.

Like Russell in that when he is scrambling he always is looking down-field. And he's a great scrambler. Just watch the Alabama game. OU didn't win but he makes some excellent plays in that game. One play KM is taking off and in a split second he sees a teammate coming open deep and with a flick he throws the ball about 55 yards and drops it in a bucket, TD! Crazy throw!!!

Up until this week I was all about building the trenches. Since Wednesday March 13th, I have done a complete about face and would give, this year's 1 and 2, next year's 1 and 2 to get Kyler. It may take more and I am not sure how much I would give up to get to pick 1 but a little more I am sure. I would not give 2021 picks away. With the rest of our picks though I would definitely get some Oline picks to bolster.

    I say go get em!!!

If there was any possible way to trade for him, I say do it. Next season becomes a learning season and yet a potentially fun one despite probably not being a playoff team. I'm of the group that feels that the Quarterback is everything in football. If you have a mainstay at that position, you'll always have a chance to win games. Every game is watchable, every game is exciting, every time your quarterback steps on the field, your team has a chance. Kyler Murray is that dude. Dan Marino was that guy...We had no running game with him, no defense until he was way older, I mean...Marino was basically the Miami Dolphins and we were always competitive, we always had a chance with him on any Sunday. We need a quarterback that can always give us hope every week. Again....Kyler Murray is that electric of a player and he can do it. The Cardinals signed Brett Hundley...Not sure what they are thinking or where they are going on draft day, but it looks like it's either Murray or Bosa for them and if it's Bosa, then Kyler Murray becomes a very attainable option for us if we want him.

This is what Philly gave up to get Carson Wentz a couple years ago, I think Murray will demand something similar.

The Eagles get: The No. 2 pick in 2016 and a 2017 fourth-round pick.

The Browns get: The No. 8 pick in 2016, the No. 77 pick (third round) in 2016, the No. 100 pick (fourth round) in 2016, a 2017 first-rounder and a 2018 second-rounder.

Id throw in everything including the kitchen sink! Living in Oklahoma I've watched him carry OU all season. Want to keep going down the same road then keep drafting Tackles and DL with the first round picks and watch them be average or fail. Yes, I would give up Dion Jordan, Jawan James, Laramey Tunsil AND Charles Harris for Murray (all first round "trench" guys since we drafted Tannehill). I'd throw Devante Parker in with them all too (another recent first rounder). You get a chance to grab a game changing QB you go get him. I'd rather pay for a few linemen in FA than a top QB.

Murray has a great arm, footwork, and is obviously athletic enough to make plays with his legs. These things alone will give him the potential to be a good NFL QB.

However, like most other prospects, there are reservations with him. We're all pretty familiar with them, but to me, the biggest ones are A) his personality/commitment, and B) his unique playstyle. To elaborate on B: Murray plays with an almost awkward blend of refined mechanics (specifically: footwork, spiral, ball placement, ball velocity) that make him appear to be a veteran of the position (a la Russell Wilson), combined with unseemly maneuvers/decision making that give him a scrappy vibe (a la Tim Tebow). Truthfully, this combination of characteristics reminds me most of Baker Mayfield--except, with Baker, his personality and commitment to the game were never in question. This gives me some pause with Kyler. Further, Baker had a genius of an OC in Freddie Kitchens to fully utilize that unique playstyle. Would Kyler be so fortunate in Miami? Not sure; depends on your opinion of Chad O'Shea, I guess.

That being said, I wouldn't trade the farm for him. If he and Baker were in the same class, I would consider Baker a superior prospect; as such, a natural range for Kyler should be picks 5-10. Beyond that, I'd consider him a steal; any earlier, I would not consider a trade.

I haven't finalized my opinion on him yet (not that anyone cares, LOL), but currently, I'm in favor of waiting on a 2020 prospect unless Kyler falls. I'll tell you right now, Jacob Eason and Jake Fromm are special players.

i voted no to ditka'ing our draft, because well look how well it worked when ditka did it....... team was in the dumps after......

but i'd gladly take murray on the dolphins. don't need an O line with a QB like him, and let him play on the marlins, he'd prob be the best player for them.

I'm curious what about his personality and commitment to the game you are referring to? I mean he's 21. Just a kid really. He was presented with 2 great opportunities. Can you imagine at 21 having the opportunity to make millions playing baseball OR football.. Holy ****! It was a big decision for him but in the end decided. Yes, his Dan Patrick interview was cringe worthy. I think if he could do it over again he would but who cares? Let his ability on the field do the talking. Here is an interview he did with Tim Tebow. Much more relaxed, much more the typical Kyler Murray.

Kyler Murray alone isn’t enough to win a super bowl. We’re not in the position philly was when they drafted wentz. We have a lot more holes than they did.

Better off waiting for him to fall. We’ve seen all this pre draft hype before. With all the question marks, he could fall like Rodgers.

A QB can mask a lot of your team’s deficiencies. And as a Dolphins fan you of all people should know that 1st and 2nd rounders aren’t a lock to help or even contribute much at all, we’ve used many a high pick on disappointing and underachieving players. Murray is also more equipped to deal with a bad offensive line than any other QB in this draft.

If you believe a guy is going to be the next great QB, give up your whole draft if necessary.

If you're right, life is good. If not, your record will be awful and you'll be in better position to get the next great QB prospect in the next draft without having to give up a lot of picks.

Think of the value of next year's picks?
Murray or no Murrary this is possibly the worst roster in the NFL!The number 1 pick we would give up might be the number 1 pick in the 2020 draft with a much stronger class of Qbs.Not.to mention the round 2 pick will be high also.To give those picks is insanity!Stay the course and rebuild the right way.Off and def lines in 2019!

I dont think Arizona is willing to trade away their pick, their head coach is in love with Murray..

But yeah, if Grier is 100% invested in Murray and getting Flores a quarterback his first year, I will fully support giving up this years draft picks and next years first. And we will sink and swim with that decision, if we sink we will have a high pick in 2021 to correct our mistake.

As for the Mahomes comment, i personally thought 9 teams were insane not to take Mahomes. I watched him in college football, he treated the grass like it was the Oracle Arena. He was a cant miss as it gets and teams just didnt buy in because of the competition.

I love Murray as a prospect. But we aren't where the Eagles were when they went and got their QB. We have way too many holes on this squad and we arent going to spend much this year to fill them. We trade next years #1, even though I believe in Murray, its going to be a top 5 pick. And its going to take more than that to get up for Murray.

6 out of the last 9 drafts have been interior lineman. That's with three different coaching regimes. Call me crazy for wanting Murray, throw a tantrum because people see things differently than you, but I think it's even crazier to keep doing the same **** over and over again while expecting different results. Oh...and out of those six interior lineman that have been drafted over the last nine years...Tunsil and Harris are all that remain and Harris is a colossal bust. How is drafting another one in the first round this year going to be any different?
