Our HOF QBs have been #12 and #13. The next number in order seems clear.

As someone who doesn't follow college ball at all (I don't think it's even on TV over here in the UK), can somebody explain to me a.) What makes Tua the standout player that's worth tanking a season over? b.) Why do some people say that he's going to be available next year and yet others say he won't be around until 2021? I get you can leave early, but both sides seem equally convinced that he's nailed in for either draft class. c.) If Tua doesn't enter until 2021, is there currently a player who would then be the obvious #1 pick?

And here's one breakdown of upcoming QB prospects:
    https://www.whitewolfsports.com/nfl...020-and-2021-nfl-draft-quarterback-prospects/

And the reason some say 2020 and some say 2021 - he's eligible 2020, so there are few players with that talent who wouldn't just jump into the NFL.

Some say 2021 because his parents have been on interview saying that educations is very important and he should finish college - and family is evidently a big deal to him. If that decision holds, then he'll be a 2021 draft prospect.

Ok I have a couple of questions off the back of that but first thank you for answering my previous questions.

1.) The person in the article has Fromm above Tua in his listings at QB, does that mean that theoretically the 2020 draft class in the QB department is less one sided than it has been this year where largely it's Murray and then the likes of Haskins, Lock etc. who people seem to think are a tier down?
2.) If Tua's family is the part pulling for 2021 and they get their way (which isn't inconceivable I'd imagine) then does this immediately just become Tank for Fromm instead? Or is that one person's opinion in the article above massively different to the general consensus?
3.) Is Trevor Lawrence an easy #1? I mean in the NBA (another sport I don't get to follow closely) this season, every mock draft from game 1 has basically had Zion Williamson going first and so it's basically been open warfare to get to that #1 pick. Clearly as such he's a player that franchises feel can change their fortunes over night. Is Lawrence that in the NFL? I mean let's say that every QB that was available to decided to declare for the 2021 draft. As things stand right this second would 99.9% of teams be drafting Trevor Lawrence or would there be a genuine mystery as to who the team at #1 would pick?

The reason that third question I feel is relevant, is let's just say we mess up tanking this season. Due to whatever reason we win 5 or 6 games and end up around 6 or 7 in the draft. Now I know we could end up trading up, but for a second let's just say that nobody above us is open to a trade. Does it immediately just become tank for Trevor or is the calibre of QBs good enough over the next few years that it's not just a one player class?

Regardless of whether Tago is there next April or not, I would have to think that the Fins would do what they could to take either Fromm or Herbert, unless something else happens and someone falls into their lap, or Falk turns into Kurt Warner Jr and has a great season no one expected.

Cheers guys, appreciate the help. At the moment they're just names on a laptop to me, so to get some opinions on them really helps. Is there a draft class from the past that next years class resembles in terms of QB strength?

In general, I'd say that this next year of college football is going to be essential in addressing these questions. One whole year will begin to confirm whether Tua and Lawrence are as good as they seem to be and/or what issues they may have, and to what extent. It'll also give opportunity to put those guys alongside Fromm and co. and do further comparisons.

Basically, we're in the good position of being able to watch what develops.

If Tua decides 2021 is the year then assuming Tua and Lawrence remain leagues ahead of the other options, and also assuming we've got an okay QB in place for one more year, is be fine with a two year wait for one or the other. Gives more time to build the team overall whilst also building up picks to make a run at QB.

Still, that's all conjecture right now.

Bottom line is it'll be an interesting year watching college football.

Assuming that the Fins dont go with a QB early in this coming draft, I'm going to be inspired to watch a lot more college football for draft purposes, for sure. My interest has been waning for a variety of reasons, but given that there should be half a dozen QBs to look at, it should be interesting.

    Trevor Lawrence man ...

He's maybe the guy that would push me hardest to going heavily in on a Murray or Haskins this year. Gives us 2 seasons to see if they are legit. If so, cool beans! If not, we will hopefully suck enough to get Lawrence. Potentially generational guy.

I'm not much of a Tua fan, I think he is pretty overrated at this point. I'll have to see quite a bit more from him next year before I get on that train.

Hitting the feelings with Kurt Warner. A lot of respect for that dude...yeah he had great pieces around him but he really came from nowhere and made something of himself.

He found the PERFECT system for his abilities. That's actually half the battle for most NFL Qb's.
