Picks are in and they have to wait to go to some person because they are ______ (fill in the blank). Just announce the picks.
I miss the time when the NFL draft was just for Draft Nerds who want to give up their entire weekend and watch the draft.
It does take waaay too long. I get they can make money on the 'spectacle' particularly the first night, but what are we really talking about here? In essence you could have the players all line up along a wall and have the teams call out their picks. Job done.
Get off my lawn! Damn kids and their music! Seriously though I agree, I liked the ol Saturday/Sunday all football format. It's gotten so big and showy now, the NFL just has to turn everything into a giant event/party. I get why - money - but sometimes the "good old days" seem more appealing.
Have to check it out next year. ESPN put their coverage behind a paywall this year which annoyed me, so am watching NFL Network, which is just alright.
"And to announce a really low pick for a player most people have never heard of here's someone else you've never heard of and will never hear from again..." "Thank you, and now, in my most robotic voice, with missteps, I will read from a card."
I feel bad now... These community/football programs can do some good, and to leverage the draft to give an 'exciting moment' to someone in the community is understandable. Something they'll remember. Doesn't really matter if the picks come out more slowly.
