I must admit, the Jazz are going to be a force next year. I can easily see them as one of the top 2 teams in the west. Who is getting Rubio now? Maybe the Suns.
I have to say, even though he's a good player, I'm glad this happened and Riley won't be trading for him. I was worried he was going to give up real value for him, even though Utah didn't give much up. I didn't want to trade 13 in a deal for him, though, and I didn't love the idea of his cap hit for the next two years. I want them to either go bigger, or just go with youth until the big deals run out. Now that we dodged that bullet, we need to avoid the CP3 missile.
I keep getting hit on twitter with concerns about Brandon Clarke's overlap with Bam Adebayo. I don't see it. If anything we should be more concerned about his overlap with Derrick Jones Jr.
Rockets fans are on twitter killing Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe. These idiots are so ready to continue this week's bash-fest of the Rockets that these dummies just cited that reliable sources said "Chris Paul made Harden cry in the lockerroom this year because he was making fun of his man-boobs." This is their source.... LMAO. A well-known Twitter troll account was their reliable source. Hell, all they had to do was look at his name, lol. These clowns went on national TV and made an a## out of themselves. Nice source,
Thank goodness Perry declined...i knew Morey would try that cause the Knicks are such suckers for a big name theScore - Report: Knicks turned down Rockets' offer of Chris Paul Report: Knicks turned down Rockets' offer of Chris Paul https://www.thescore.com/nba/news/1788081
Something that is a fair question is whether college basketball has ever seen a player as short as Brandon Clarke (6 foot, 5.25 inches without shoes) lead the NCAA in blocks. William Mosley led the NCAA in blocks in 2011, and he was listed at 6'7". That could've been 6052 without shoes on. You never know. He wasn't measured at the Combine. But here's one thing I guarantee. There has never been a player to lead the NCAA in blocks that only had a standing reach of 8'6" or less. I will guarantee that. And I'd be surprised if anyone came within 3 inches. Brandon Clarke's jumping ability is special. I've seen guys get that high before. Can't remember very many that get that high, that quickly, from any direction, any balance point. He doesn't even need to break down. He just POPS. I think the combination of hands, speed, and jumping ability alone can help make him an NBA standout. Add in his IQ and that's where I see special.
It's certainly a testament to his athleticism and timing. It's not only that he's somewhat undersized, but without an impressive wingspan (same exact measure as his height). Sometimes you'll see guys like Dwyane Wade, who's shot blocking comes as a surprise because of their height, but then you see they have a crazy wingspan (Wade's is almost 7 feet). Clarke doesn't exactly have alligator arms, but it's not like he has a great wingspan that helps him out to get to shots.
Awesome! The Heat have been sniffing around some 2nd round guys, and you never know who could fall. It's actually interesting that they seem to trade away all of their 2nd round picks, because they have a really good track record in that round (Mario Chalmers, Patrick Beverly, Josh Richardson, etc.).
As for the 13th pick, Barry Jackson asked a couple of league sources their opinions on the guys in play at 13. They didn't seem to be all that excited about the names with the exception of Rui and Langford. https://www.miamiherald.com/sports/spt-columns-blogs/barry-jackson/article230147739.html
Lots of buzz about Miami wanting Romeo Langford today. I'm hoping it's true although the last time they picked in round 1 they took a guy no one saw coming. That being said, if Mitchell were there, they probably would have taken him, and a lot of people saw that coming. Apparently the Jazz did. Also, a point that's been made on twitter is trading for a 2nd round pick could be part of a bigger deal. The Heat have, in fact, shown interest in a lot of players in that range, but these trades usually happen when the pick is on the clock. To trade for that pick now without any idea of who will be available is unusual. EDIT: Maybe not
I don't actually believe the Knicks will pass on RJ, but it's Dolan's Knicks, so you can't ever feel too safe.
Ya no, thats always been a trade down scenario. I posted yesterday we brought garland in for a workout but hes not a consideration for 3 to my knowledge But yes its dolans knicks so theres no amount of unbelievable stupidity.
One thing about the Garland/Knicks link...the Knicks have strong ties to the Vanderbilt program. Luke Kornet was a UDFA signing that has worked out. John Jenkins signed with their G league team and has shown promise as a 3 point shooter. Both have raved about Garland. The Knicks have considered moving Ntilikina (it would be a mistake imo) for a 1st. I think think this is the Knicks doing due diligence in case an opportunity presents itself. Also Givony knows nothing about the Knicks. If it’s not Wojnarowski, Shams, occasionally SAS, Berman and a few others, I don’t care. They’re generally just clueless dolts throwing darts at a board.
Knicks worked out Coby White today. Saw a good point made by Steve Popper who covers the knicks...if someone leapfrogs nyk for RJ, the team is clearly not sold on Ja Morant. This is clearly a trade down scenario as they know Chicago, Phoenix etc would want to move up.
Fun has started already... Bucks trade Tony Snells bloated contract and pick 30 to Detroit for Jon Leuer. Cleqrly unloading money as Leuer is in the final year of his bloated deal. GSW buys pick 41 from ATL for 1.3m and a 2024 2nd. GSW has found some good players in that area...im betting theyre looking at Louis King there FR from oregon.
I'm going to Pelicans Draft Fest tonight, so when they cut to all the fans in NOLA, look for me. Last time I went to a Draft Fest of any sort was when the Heat drafted Harold "Baby Jordan" Miner. Hopefully, it goes a little better with ZION. And not that anyone asked, but I have no idea what we're gonna do at #4 or who we're gonna take if we don't trade the pick. Super-exciting night for New Orleans.
Should be a lot of fun. Between taking Zion and the intrigue over what they'll do with 4, it should be an exciting night. Enjoy yourself. On a related note, I remember when I went to the AAA for the lottery party in 2003. Obviously I was hoping they'd land a top 2 pick, but they were sitting in the 4 spot with the idea that as long as they didn't drop, they'd get a star player in LeBron, Melo, Darko, or Bosh. They were jumped, and landed the 5th pick. I was devastated. Little did I know at the time, it was the best thing that had ever happened to the franchise. That's the interesting thing about the draft. We think we know, but we have no idea how any of these guys will turn out. I joke with Boik about them taking Garland over RJ, but I felt the same way when there were rumors Miami was thinking about passing on Michael Beasley for an unproven combo guard named Russell Westbrook, or some white guy named Kevin Love.
Interesting tidbit. Kevin Porter got a last minute invite to the green room for tonight. There were some rumors that he might fall to the end of the round, but apparently the NBA thinks he has a shot to go in the lottery.
Thanks, man. I listened to Jay Bilas on LeBatard today and he was straight GUSHING over Zion. I watched a few games with Zion and was blown away too, but hearing it from Bilas has me so hyped!
I don't know why I felt the need to watch this, maybe in honor of the NBA Draft tonight. But I'm glad Miami only appeared in one of these.
Yeah you’re in for a treat with this guy. I’m excited but it’s hard to get too excited picking at 13. Either way I’ve got steaks marinating and some good beer, can’t complain too much.
Hearing trade down from 4 to 8 for your Pels with ATL giving you 8, 17,35 and youre taking Reddish at 8
I'm rooting for Luka Samanic and Dareius Bagley as the two picks for the Nets. We need stretch 4s. There are other players I would be cool with but those are the two I think that will be available with the highest upside. I read however that Brooklyn is looking to trade up to around 20 so we may end up with only one pick
There were a zillion people at draft fest. Can’t believe we got 3 firsts + unloaded Solomon Hill for #4. Jaxson looks like a Willie Cauly Stein clone. I’ll take it! And we get Cleveland’s 2020 pick!
