I just got a Lenovo 300 Ideapad for home productivity. It's running speed is ... ok, but I'm curious about what I'd need to add to optimize its performance. Note: I'm not looking to turn this into a gaming computer.
SSD storage will make all the difference in the world. You should also upgrade the memory if it's under 8GB. An SSD drive will make even an old PC fast.
It depends on what you're upgrading it for. If it's streaming movies and Netflix, then your internet speed in 90% of the equation. If it's gaming, then more memory is the way to go....or an SSD drive like Bumrush said. Upgrading the graphics card can also make a big difference but that's not always an option on a laptop. Looking at the specs, you have 8GB of RAM- bump that to 16 (if one slot) or 32 (if two slots). Graphics are onboard so you're stuck there, but the memory alone will make a big difference for less than $50.
