See the below video - Omar reckons Preston has a bad habit of pushing off defenders and he's going to receive lots of yellow flags because of it, in his rookie year at least. Check the video. What do you think - flag or no flag?
I don't think he extended his arms enough to warrant the flag and I didn't see the DB get moved which will sometimes trigger the flag. I think that goes uncalled 9 out of 10 times or better.
I just don't see the push off. I have no doubt that we get called on that play a few times, but mostly due to an angle the official has where he sees the hands go up and then sees the catch, so he comes to a conclusion that a push off happened. This guy is really starting to impress from what I have seen.
It would be fantastic to have found a #1 WR for free, though he'll need about two years to round into shape. I'm not trying to be cynical, but I expect Parker to be injured yet again this season and with Preston to take his place we are good. Although, having Parker, Preston, and Gesicki inside the red zone would be awesome -at least on paper.
To me, it's a flag. But as you can also see in the video, there are two refs watching the catch attempt and neither threw a flag. That's common in the NFL and doesn't get called consistently....so no flag!
I also wonder that if a push-off like that is a priority during the regular year that the refs will be calling it more during the pre-season to sort of set the tone. They didn't call it, so maybe it's not going to be a big deal.
PW play will draw a flag majority of the time in the regular season if he catches the TD. Can’t extend two arms on the break that blatantly, regardless of the actual push, and not get called most times. Washington play was a foul, but very subtle and would go unnoticed 95% of the time. Still a foul, but rare to pick up. Just my opinion.
The best WR all know how much they can push off without being called for pushing off. I dont think it's a flag to begin with but if it us he will need to learn to hide it.
