Interesting edit. Interesting lack of edits for Key's political posts. You got every right to do that. Just make sure it's not being done like Google, Twitter and Facebook does it. To support one side over the other. Very slippery slope.

But it's been a good discussion without people hurling insults at each other. The way it should be.

That's because I haven't said anything political at all, except media quotes of what's been said.

This just isn't a topic for the general discussion area since we can't talk about Trump or politics....which I have no interest in doing anyway. The only reason I chimed back in at all was about the media- I started my writing career in journalism and personally watched it spiral down the rabbit hole as morals and values were tossed aside. People can't understand the intense pressure journalists are under to produce a "hit story" daily...you're only as important as your reader count the past 3-5 days.

That's the ONLY REASON this is a thread anyway- ten years ago, an editor wouldn't dream of publishing this type of trash gossip unless it was in the Enquirer. Now it's somehow the gold standard in reporting.

The post about Kap and his "reasons" is all political. Just because someone in the media said it and you quoted it doesn't make it not political BTW.

If this thread is going to move from the Dolphin story of Stills/Jay Z/Flores/Ross etc. then it is over. The question of the place of media today is interesting but it is only tangentially Dolphin related.
I think the "rapgate" or whatever other moronic label this stuff has been given will remain current so let's keep this open for now but..... Please.

Back on topic- here's what Flores had to say about Stills today-

He also answered a question on the Jay-Z songs (couldn't find a video for that one with good audio). He said that he told Stills in front of the whole team something like, "This is to motivate you to get open and work hard amidst everything going on..." Then he jammed those tunes.

So it wasn't a "punishment" at all. That sure sounds different from what the media has been saying so far, doesn't it?

PS Galant- I embedded my first Tweet!

Sounds like Flores was trying to teach Stills and the rest of the team thru Kenny to tune out the noise and just play football. And he did it with a hey wake the flip up slap upside the head.

    LOVE DAT!!!!

I think we finally have our coach. Now he needs to find his QB and we're off to the Super Bowl!

Looking at two great coaches and how they handled egos or stars. Phil Jackson was super passive aggressive and handled his stars through the media. Worked for him. (Kobe vs. Shaq)

Bill Parcells absolutely did not care about individual agendas, used zero tact and made it very public when criticizing a players actions.

Is there one set way to handle employees within your organization? Yes! Consistency. Consistency in handling each situation that is consistent with your identity, your organizations identity, the person at the podium = the person in the locker room at halftime and the same person sorting the iPod playlist in practice.

He shared the conversation he had with Josh Rosen about his body language with the media. I don’t even think he is passive aggressive which is awesome. I think he was sending a direct message. Who knows he probably, as a pattern of behavior would show, pulled stills aside and let him know that it was coming. After he ripped him for putting his agenda before the team.

While I agree this tactic can be frowned upon and petty, but also can be a consistent powerful message that is not out of character of the leader...

This reminds me of the salt and pepper diner bit by John Mulaney...Flores should've played one song by Will Smith, then gone right back to eight more plays of Jay Z.

Parcels mostly did that in a different era with different expectations of a coach.

I'd also argue Parcells was a fairly mediocre coach to begin with. Obviously not the worst or bad, but probably not in the top 25 coaches I'd model my actions around.
