If his heart and body isnt in it then he made the right choice. He has gone through too many surgeries already, the colts never got him an offensive line. And he can really hurt himself and his players if hes checked out on the field while defensive players come after you.

Got a feeling he will be back in a year or two.

    Haha my wife's fantasy QB.

Hopefully he has stashed most of that money - he can live a pretty good life, though those injuries can rear at any time. Helpful reminder for some of the "today's players are *******" crowd, that toughness comes at a big cost sometimes. It's a tradeoff.

I know this isn't a Fins story, but it still has MAJOR implications on the AFC and the Colts are scrambling to find a new QB. Luck announced tonight after the pre-season game that he just doesn't enjoy the game anymore because of various injuries he can't seem to fully shake. He also said how much their young QB was loving every minute of camp and it made him realize that his heart just isn't in it anymore..he's walking away at 29 years old.

He shared the he has dreaded this entire pre-season (he was out hurt for almost all of it) so he said the heck with it- he retired effective today. WOW!!!!

If the Colts had any interest in winning now, maybe we could swing a trade for Fitzmagic? I think they give Brissett a shot this season and then tank it in 2020 to try and get Lawrence.

I could also see that Luck might take a year off, get healthy, and want to come back in 2020. Not likely, but like a 25% chance. A that point, the Colts could try to trade him if they are in position to grab a top QB, or just roll with Luck again.

As I saw someone post about this situation; it's crazy that Brady has outlasted Peyton and his successor, Luck. Also, the Captain Luck twitter account has been pretty funny at times.

I had to pick my jaw up off the floor when I found out. The Colts had legitimate Super Bowl aspirations this year, too.

Remember that vaunted 2012 draft class? Let's look back on the top 8 selections:
    • Andrew Luck
    • Robert Griffin III
    • Trent Richardson
    • Matt Kalil
    • Justin Blackmon
    • Morris Claiborne
    • Mark Barron
    • Ryan Tannehill
    Just mind blowing.

What a wasteland. Barron will probably end up having the most valuable overall career, and he's mostly trash and playing LB these days.

Luck and Griffin should be cautionary tales on the WORST possible ways to handle franchise altering talent. Personally, I sometimes decry OL obsession, and that's certainly only one piece of the puzzle overall, but my god those franchises wrecked two HoF talents. Grigson and Shannahan should be fired into the sun for crimes against the sport. And Grigson is still in the league!!!!

Wow I'm floored! Shows how important that O line really is not only for wins but to prolong a good Qb's career.
