Sad to see him go. Maybe Father Time has caught up to him and he was recently injured so they had to let him go.
I'm in the minority, but he's a LS. If that's the only guy on our team who is irreplaceable, that should be a source of concern not pride.
Anyone have any idea why this was necessary? His cap hit is tiny, I doubt he was demanding some colossal extension, it isn't a trade for picks.... what's the point of this? Everyone go buy Denney jerseys!
Denney is a vested veteran. They can cut him because he won't have to clear waivers. They can claim another player, cut someone else, and re-sign Denney. I believe they did this year. Remains to be seen if this is the same thing.
The Miami Dolphins cut long snapper John Denney Monday morning -- a move that leaves the team’s longest-tenured player as a free agent able to sign with any team. Read more here: https://www.miamiherald.com/sports/...-salguero/article234633142.html#storylink=cpy
Grier and Flores must have found a little of that white powder left in the online offices. They are going wild!! Next post will be them cutting T.D.
What if Flores is still working for the Pats and just wants to get rid of all our good players and waste all our draft picks next year.
dont care if hes just a long snapper... get him in the ring of honor.. been a dolphin almost as long as Udonis has been a Heat player, never once complained, stayed professional and stayed consistently good at his job... he loved being a dolphin. So do whats right and honor him.
I completely agree- it makes zero sense to cut a 15-year long snapper after he won the camp battle. It's almost laughably ridiculous at this point.
Love the Denney, will miss him. A great teamate and solid human. Made a good amount of money perfecting a craft, cant ask more from a man. DOnt like that he was cut but I am sure there are reasons. God Speed Denney, never should have to buy a beer in Dade or Broward county.
I’m not into conspiracy theories, but man, this feels weird. Even Flores looked off when addressing it. This entire ordeal feels like Grier is pushing his weight around to secure a bountiful 2020 and ‘21. Why? Maybe because Miami wants to entice a big name coach and drop Flores after this year? I seriously do not feel like these moves are totally on Flores. Just a weird feeling I’m getting from all of this. Like a Hue Jackson move, but Flores gets one year instead of three. In saying that, I could be WAY off.....
Fire the epitome of a blue collar lunch pail working mans man on Labor Day weekend. That's effed up. Even for the Dolphins. WTF is the point of this move? To save like 200k a year. Flipping stoopid.
Why is he the epitome of blue collar lunch pail working man's man? People are going off the deep end.
All joking aside, I can get replacing Denney. He was getting up there in years, and he would have to be replaced eventually. But the timing is just... weird to me. Why so late in the game?
