Where'd you get that from? I mean, I really hope it's true...I just didn't catch that in any of the stuff I read. On a side note, what's the NFL retirement package look like for a 15-year veteran? I'm guessing it's fairly impressive and easily enough for him to live on the rest of his life. Edit- I answered my own question. Retired players receive $5,640 per month for every year played in the NFL. So Denny gets $84,600 a month for life? That's a cool million plus per year!!!! ($1,015,200) He also gets an extra bonus for being a 10+ year vet but I can't find what that actually is. His 1-year contract was for $1,030,000 plus a $90k signing bonus...so he's technically losing $15k a year by retiring (or actually profiting, depending on the 10+ year bonus size). Good for him...that makes me feel worlds better about all of this.
