I don't think anyone really expected us to win today. If they did, it's wishful thinking at best.

What I think has some of us, me included irked is the way this team has gone about it. It's one thing to accumulate draft picks by dumping overpaid vets, but this team has gutted everything, everywhere, every way possible. When you start trading guys who are good, simply because they're soon to be due new contracts (and yes, we got good compensation for Tunsil/Stills) it's going to leave a bad taste in people's mouths. Not just fans, but clearly players too with reports that multiple players requested trades after today's game.

It's one thing to be bad... it's another to rebuild, but it's a completely altogether different animal to not even try to be competitive.

Hey, I get it.. the reset button has needed to be pressed here for a long time. To me though, what they've done this year is going overboard. It's a slap in the face to the fans, and to the guys on the roster you're expecting to go out on that field putting their bodies on the line. At least in Clevelands tank job they were competitive in most games. This is worse than Indy's tank job for Luck at this point. They weren't even trying to win, neither are we.

I love this team, always have since I started watching the game, but I'm looking for other things to do on Sundays and another team to pay close attention to this year. That's not me throwing in the towel on being a phin's fan, but I'm not about to waste 4 hours every sunday watching this garbage. I'll follow another team. Likely the Titans at this point since they are my wifes team, and Wake is there, and I like Nashville in general. I doubt that's a long term thing... because I love this team for some strange reason.. but I know there's alot of people in the same boat as me... who won't be back. I don't blame them either.

I've been a low key Packers fan since I lived there for 5 years growing up. It's kinda nice having an NFC balance to the Phins - you don't really need to worry much about matchups.

Wake was awesome today. 2.5 sacks and really disruptive.

He was going against like a third stringer for most of the game, but he looked refreshed. The question will be if he can keep it up through the whole season.

The Browns looked like a team with a rookie head coach in over his head. Kinda like us, but with actual talent to waste.

My NFC team was always the Panthers since they came into the league. I'm not a fan of Cam Newton though. His personality does nothing for me, so I'm out on them currently. Again, to be clear, I'm not looking for a bandwagon to jump on, I'm not abandoning my team. I'm still a fan of football though; good football. So, if I'm going to watch a game on Sunday, its just now going to have to be something enjoyable. Maybe it'll be the Titans to spend that time with the wife, maybe it'll just be whatever game is a good game for the week. I just doubt I'll be wasting my time watching this **** show for a whole year when they arent even trying.

At least our 1-15 team tried. The guys in charge right now dont even appear to be doing that. They're not even trying to hide it. Again.... I get the end game here, it has to happen, but to me the way they've gone about it is essentially unsportsmanlike, and hurts the integrity of the game.

Meh, that 1-15 season was straight trash, there was nothing positive that came from it, and not much that followed except that one brief spurt under Sparano.

I don't see it as unsporting or unfair at all, though I also wouldn't really care or object to the NFL (or other leagues) to try and stop it. It may just run it's own course though, baseball seems to be running up to a point where tanking isn't feasible since there are so many trying it.

The one issue I have is a team - any team - still charging full price for tickets and such when they know they aren't going to try and compete.

Yes, I get that. Again though... that 1-15 season was just years worth of bad decisions piling up. This season is simply this team, purposely doing it. That's where I have the issue. That's why it appears unsporting. It's like saying... Well, we've really ****ed this up because were inept. Lets just dump everything, guarantee ourselves a top pick and many others and start over. It's cheap. If it pays off, no doubt I'll take it  I just wish the league could stop it from happening.

Baseball though, there's no real tanking for top picks. There's just teams that CANT compete because they can't afford to have the payrolls of the top teams.

That last point of yours though, that's why I think the NFL/NFLPA will eventually look to change the system. It will help them show fans they're trying to protect the integrity of the game.

If it does that route, I just hope it happens after we've fixed this mess of ours

I dont agree with that. Trading Tunsil and Stills isn't because they were bad decisions. They were moves that clearly make the team worse now, for the *hope* of long term improvement via the draft. Alot of the other moves we've made, yes, I'm with you, they were basically cleaning up bad contracts from former attempts at roster bandaids.

Trading Tunsil and Stills is because Miami got an amazing deal. They were not part of the plan going into this season.

Again, I get that. Already stated I did. However, to say Tunsil shouldn't be a part of your plans moving forward though, when you've had one of the worst OL's in the league the last few years means you've got a really ****ty plan IMO. The only thing that made that a good move was the value we got, as you mentioned.

I am not a fan of the trade myself. I understand it, because that is QB quantity of value.

Myself, we have had mostly a dumpster fire at LT, and I was happy to finally not have that. Plus when Miami does go for a new LT, they are going to have to use some of that draft capital on a LT

And therein lies the rub. They haven't shown any ability to draft offensive linemen beyond no brainer first round picks. Seriously, out of all the guys they have picked outside of the 1st round name the good ones. Other teams do it all the time. I have no faith this front office or scouts can.

Eh dolphins fans are smarter than that... they just simply don’t show up to the game. Theycan renovate the stadium and do retro jerseys and etc, dolphins fans have been in protest for decades. We have been mediocre for decades.. when Ricky got hot mixed with JT and ZT on defense, the fans sorta got interested again, they saw 3 stars who played with a lot of heart..

if ownership wants fan support they need to earn its we have been dreadful about as long as any bad franchise in the NFL. The jaguars became an expansion team in the 90s, took some of our fan base with them, whooped our asses in a playoff game, have been more relevant than us with Leftwitch and freaking Bortles at quarterback..

Today we fielded a team out there where Fitzpatrick was the starter and Rosen was the backup.. pretty sure that’s worse than the Trent Green / John Beck combo we once put together.. or the Brian Griese / Jay combo..

No, it was about two weeks of decisions with Grier and Ross. They basically ditched our entire team and replaced them with guys who would struggle to make a roster elsewhere. Jones, McCain, and Howard are about the only survivors not still on a rookie contract or a new extension.

Grier pitched the full rebuild to Ross in week 15 of the season last year. Two weeks later, we started clearing house. So that's how long this 2019 team was in the making...two weeks total.

Cherry picking? I could tell you to do the same thing by looking play by play at the NE v Pitt game, or the LAR v Car game, or the LAC V Ind game. The point is, you guys said teams run to run out the clock after obtaining the lead and this is NOT the case. Teams win by running the ball early on; by having balance in their offense. Are there the exceptions to the rule as you pointed out with KC? Sure there are. Miami during Marino's tenure was one of those teams, but if you can't run the ball you don't win...bottomline

For the record, I believe running is important.

However, I really implore you to watch the game. This team had no chance regardless of what we did.

This team made no EFFORT to run the ball. There's this misconception you gain yards and score points when only running the ball. you can rip off a 10, 20, 30 yard run just as easily as you can rip off a 10, 20 and 30 yard pass but if you don't commit to running the ball, if you abandon the run outright, you have zero chance

Running the ball and gaining negative yards wouldnt have made our defense not give up 28 points right off the bat.

They weren't winded, they were terrible.

I think Travis eluded to Grier’s track record for drafting good players as around a third. I am not sure how that stacks up, but I would guess it’s below average. It won’t happen because of Ross but we really do need a serious upgrade at GM.

Holy crap! This explains everything. You actually don't even check to see if what you think you "watched" conforms to reality.

You say that LAR vs Car is another game where LAR ran the ball early to win. Here's the play-by-play:
    https://www.espn.com/nfl/playbyplay?gameId=401127923

    Run/Pass ratio for LAR:
Drive 1: 7 pass, 0 run (+ 1 sack which is technically a pass attempt)
    Drive 2: 2 pass, 1 run
    Drive 3: 3 pass, 3 run
    Drive 4: 0 pass, 2 run
    Drive 5: 4 pass, 2 run
    etc...

So clearly what you said is false for a game where you said they ran more than passed early on to win the game.

It's worse.. another game you listed, LAC vs. Ind is also not an example of what you said:
    https://www.espn.com/nfl/playbyplay?gameId=401127972

    Run/Pass ratio for LAC:
Drive 1: 1 pass, 1 run (+ 1 sack which is technically a pass attempt)
    Drive 2: 6 pass, 5 run
Drive 3: 5 pass, 1 run (+ 1 sack which is technically a pass attempt)
    Drive 4: 6 pass, 3 run
Drive 5: 3 pass, 1 run (+ 1 sack which is technically a pass attempt)
    etc..

So clearly what you said is false for another game where you said they ran more than passed early on to win.

Furthermore, even for the NE game you're only right for the first drive:
    https://www.espn.com/nfl/playbyplay?gameId=401127860

    Run/Pass ratio for NE:
    Drive 1: 1 pass, 5 rush
    Drive 2: 6 pass, 2 rush
    Drive 3: 7 pass, 4 rush
    Drive 4: 2 pass, 1 rush
    Drive 5: 4 pass, 2 rush
    Drive 6: 7 pass, 0 rush
    etc...

Note however that NE did NOT score on their first drive. And as you see they went pass heavy the entire 1st half.

So, not only do you cherry pick data, you MAKE UP data and act like something is true when it isn't. Once again, the graph I showed you originally is what happens when you do NOT cherry pick data and that shows your theory is incorrect.
