Fantastic! At least we can see whether Rosen has what it takes to be a franchise QB. I seriously doubt it, but hope to be proven wrong.

To all those who wrote for the last month how smart it was protecting Rosen from the horrible offensive line....... HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA

THis organization has no idea what its doing or why its doing it. Dont waste you're time trying to read the tea leaves. Just know that we dont truly begin our rebuild until Grier and Flores are also gone

Really wish we had done a better job building an OL. Really any QB will have 0 chance of being successful behind this OL.

I'm a bit bummed we wont get to see him with even average protection. I mean, the best case scenario for us is that he is awesome but it's unlikely, especially in this offense.

Don't think we have to over think this one. They likely wanted to see more than just talent from Rosen. Leadership. Maturity. Etc.

Assuming they've seen that from him, in addition to proving himself capable on field, Rosen is being given his chance.

You mock this move as though fans know better than those running the team, which is blatantly ignorant.

Many factors play into such decisions. Fitzpatrick's health, the unseen progress in the film room and practice field from Rosen, spark for the team, etc. I know it's hard to acknowledge your boy Gase was a flop, but projecting such frivolousness unto the current staff without any concrete evidence that their vision will fail is . . . well, not very smart. I'll leave it at that.

I don't think they view Rosen with enough promise to warrant protecting him from whatever disadvantages exist in his surroundings as an aid in his development.

Think about it this way: would you try to protect Jake Rudock from the disadvantages that exist on the 2019 Dolphins? I don't think the team views Rosen as better or more promising enough than Rudock to think any differently about Rosen, at least in terms of whether they should protect him from his surroundings.

We also shouldn't assume that Rosen was being kept out to protect him. It's entirely possible if not probable that he was being kept out because of his own deficiencies.

The point spread in the Dolphins/Cowboys game just jumped from 21.5 to 23 with the announcement of Josh Rosen's starting.

To give that some perspective, there have been 3,872 regular season games played in the NFL since 2004, and exactly two of them (0.05%) have featured point spreads of 23 or more.

In 2007 New England was favored by 24.5 points over Philadelphia, and in 2013 Denver was favored by 26.5 points over Jacksonville.

People almost never believe teams in the NFL are this non-competitive.

There are actually two games this week with such high point spreads. The NE Patriots vs. NY Jets was also at 23. Right now both games are hovering between 22, 22 1/2 and 23:

Rosen’s stat line looks horrible, but in his defense:
    - His receivers have dropped at least 2 clear long TD passes.
    - His Int in the Ravens game was more in Grant than Rosen (Grant was 2 steps ahead of the CB when the ball was released, yet 2 steps behind when the ball was caught because Grant didn’t come back to the ball)
    - His Int against the Patsies was a last play of the game desperation throw.

At this point of the season the OL is what it is. If we wait for the OL to improve by itself Rosen will tell his grandkids about the time he almost was the starting QB for the Dolphins. It sucks, but if we are going to have any chance of seeing what Rosen can do we have to start him behind this OL.

I mean, he looked good last week in limited action...why not let him play? The line looked better last week as well and now's as good of a time as any.

How is Dallas's pass rush? Could that be a factor?

Playing IT Director/arm chair coach for a sec, I think it would really help Rosen if we have more than what we had last week with 15 rushing attempts. Ground and pound with one wide out and throw in some play action. Any offensive lineman will tell you that they'd rather run block than pass block. Kill some clock, try to keep Dez off the field the best we can, and most importantly, protect Rosen. Who knows, maybe keep it under the spread? Baby steps...

I'm really annoyed right now. I just checked the game coverage and for the 3rd week in a row the Dolphins won't be on here.
I'm in freaking Central Florida! I refuse to go back to Direct TV and shove more money into Sunday Ticket.
I guess I'm going to have to go somewhere if I want to see it.

Hard to do that when your pass defense is surrendering a astronomical passer rating of 155 and you’re consequently down big on the scoreboard every week.

It was clear to me that the Dolphins would bring in Rosen early in the season, but not the first few games unless he had really outperformed Fitz during preseason. I anticipated he would be brought in around the 4th game. It seems I was off by one game. In any case, this was what I expected from our coaching staff for the following reasons:

    1) I expected Fitz to pick up the new coaches offensive system and be able to implement it more quickly then Rosen, based on his time in the league under different coaches and systems and showing some degree of success in most. This would imply that Fritz would start and Rosen could come in later, after he was up to speed with our new coaches QB system, assuming he wasn't a total washout.

    2) I felt that it made more sense to let the more seasoned QB start while letting Rosen have a few snaps during the first couple of games to better prepare him for starting in this new (for Rosen) team and system. I think of this as setting him up to be as successful as possible.

    3) Since the first couple of games with a new coach and team are likely to have some weaknesses exposed, this period (the first 3 or 4 games) is a prime time for a QB injury to occur. Looking at what has happened injury wise to QB's so far this season certainly justifies this approach. Its better to put the more experienced QB in that position of risk because he is more likely to make it through uninjured.

Most of this should be obvious, unless your real goal is to win in Madden, where a spreadsheet analysis trumps real world performance.

That's been my viewpoint the whole time BUT I am glad they're starting Rosen. Bad line or not, we have to get him on he field and see how he works with our coaches/team. Just really, really hoping he doesn't get hurt.

Fitz teaching Rosen up. Not crying to be traded cause your not using him correctly. THAT is being a pro and not quitting on your team in the face of adversity.

Awesome. Do you think the Dolphins have a cut out cardboard of their owner in the locker room like in the original Major League baseball movie?

I'm sure the players are trying to win a few games to screw up the tank.

Yeah, Rosen had to start I 100% agree.

That said, if they really wanted to see him in action maybe not having the worst line in the league would be a benefit to the evaluation.

It is what it is though and what it is....is sink or swim for Rosen.

Josh Rosen has had the worst path barely in his second season as a NFL quarterback. Like really, he drew the short straw in the worst possible way. I feel for him, I liked him in UCLA, but his career may end quickly and he had absolutely nothing to do about it.

The cardinals fire their head coach not even letting the coach finish the season. Then they pick Kyler Murray after just one season of Rosen.. and then they trade him to possibly the worst team in NFL history... If I were in his shoes id be sick to my stomach. Thats just an unfair path, he doesnt have the support staff to develop him. The most he can do is somehow shock the world and do this on his own. But he is most definitely on his own..
