Sorry if this has already been posted.I can't find nothing postive except a few quotes on other Dophins boards. They said Mort said something about it this morning.Has anyone heard something about this?
How do we manage the draft if Mueller is gone? There surely wont be anymore clued up draft guys available at this stage.
Did you read this from scout.com: Amid a report that former Packers general manager Ron Wolf recommended his GM services to new Dolphins executive Bill Parcells, 49ers vice president of player personnel Scot McCloughan said he is not interested in leaving San Francisco. When asked if he is staying with the 49ers, McCloughan said, "Definitely. One hundred percent." McCloughan is the top scout in the organization and someone Nolan leans on heavily in making personnel decisions. "You got to finish what you started, you know? You have to," McCloughan said. "I gave a commitment to coach and the organization. I have to fulfill that." FOUND THIS in ANOTHER FORUM
I find draft preparation to be vastly overrated as it is. Almost anyone with the internet can analyze players just as good as most GMs in the league. That aside, Parcells is probably going to be a lot more involved with the draft then he's letting on.
Good point, I wouldnt be surprised if Parcells has been taking his own notes on certain players. What else has he had to do over the past few months? lol
maybe Wolf will take the job... be like that geezer movie with Lancaster and Douglas or Grumpier Old Men
I respect Parcells...I just don't want the Dolphins to be where old guys come to retire and the Dolphins be a hobby for them.
Randy Mueller will be gone before the draft no doubt. He does a lot of work on prospects, but he doesn't have sole access to the information collected. Aside from that, Ron Wolf, though not formally a scout or GM, does his homework constantly on prospects and he is absolutely one of the best - better then Mueller.
We already have a 66 year old (Parcells) who is at his very last stop in the NFL. We don't need a decrepit old man like Ron Wolf. Wolf is past 70 for crying out loud. Are we going to the Geriatric Dept. to try to turn our team around?
Who cares how old these guys are, if they can still get the job done it doesn't matter if he is 30 years old or 70 years old.
Exactly. And experience counts. There are mistakes younger less experienced talent evaluators won't make that these guys since they can use their wealth of knowledge to prevent mistakes.
The last time I checked, a 70 year old guy simply doesn't have the energy and drive that a younger and hungrier guy has
