I couldn't be more excited for movie than i am for this. Phoenix seems to be a perfect actor for Arthur Fleck and the backstory. This isn't dudes with super powers blowing stuff up with their eye's, this is real life mental health issues that we will be seeing. I appreciate realism. Great quote I read and I do not recall from who... "In 1989 they created a monster by throwing the joker into axes chemicals...in 2019...they created a monster by throwing him into society" Can't friggin wait!
I guess it's a retelling of the Joker's origin but without Batman I don't find myself that interested right now.
Movie is catching a lot of heat and folks fear what it will do to motivate other mental health victims going through what it appears Arthur is. I think it is a valid concern personally. Today's generation is influenced by TV and social media more than ever. Hoping we don't hear about any opening weekend incidents but sadly it's a real possibility.
Utterly amazing film, the last 20 mins being possibly the best payoff I have ever seen in any film. The score is phenominal and fits perfectly with the descent into madness of the main character. 10/10 will definitly go see again , 2 hours utterly flew by
I saw The Joker last night. Outstanding movie. I give it an 11 out of 10. It was so dark and beautifully done. Joaquin Phoenix better win an Oscar for this. I didn't think anyone would ever get close to Heath Ledger's Joker character...Phoenix did it. Such a beautifully told story of what makes someone a homicidal maniac. This is what happens to broken men. Brilliant movie.
Spoiler Do you guys think the events of the movie actually happened? I think the only thing that actually happened was the end when he was in the hospital and killed the lady. My theory is that he's been in Arkham since he was a boy. Everything that unfolded in the movie was him imagining it right before he killed that case worker in the end.
Movie did not disappoint at all. So many twists and possibilities for a sequel if Phoenix would want to endure that again. They leave a lot to be determined.
Spoiler None of us really knows if Joker was just being his normal, lying, delusional self while telling the story to the psychiatrist at the end OR if it was his real origin. I think that is why I love this movie so much. The guy is f'n nuts. If this entire movie was just one of Joker's delusions, then that would mean he was having delusions inside of his delusional story, lol. I find that twisted and awesome for a psychotic villain. I will be watching again tomorrow to see if I missed anything. So many questions...
Absolutely. So many twists, I feel like I missed some things on the first watch. I have to watch it again tomorrow.
Spoiler I think you are both on to something, it was obvious when he walked in the neighbor ladies apartment and she just fell into his arms, and obviously with Maury and the show that he was imagining/fantasizing. I agree, i need to see this again soon....do not feel like I have a total grasp of it
I’ve seen this mofo 3 times now, and each time I’ve picked up on something I didn’t notice before. It is about to break R rated records, I hope people watch this and do not just think he is some mad man and instead maybe “care about what the other guy is feeling” and realize that dudes like him exist, and it’s not always their fault.
Saw it Tuesday night and didn’t think once about walking out, I have been doing that to the few movies I went out to watch but this is definitely worth the price of admission. Can’t figure out spoiler tags on my phone but there were some twists that had me 2nd guessing it’s credibility but once that wrung itself out I was pleasantly surprised.
I deleted a personal fight between two members. Lets not have that stuff even creep into this part of the forum.
He tends to act in movies that I would never have an interest in seeing. The only thing he's done as an adult that I saw was Gladiator. Not that I'm saying he's bad, just very different from my style.
